Yep, that and really dry rice, which is why I don't eat rice, Pasta or bread. They all give me that feeling for hours. Not worth it. But hang in there, it'll go away.

@@kndoster, you're doing fine. I was exactly the same but guess what, we don't all lose at the same pace. Some of us will lose 1 - 3 pounds a week while others are losing 4-5. Don't beat yourself up. Besides, you're still very early In this process. I didn't hit a grove and get through all of the emotional turmoil that comes with having this surgery until I was 2 months out. Now, at three months and 60 pounds down, I feel amazing, I'm happy and I don't care if I lose 1 pound or 3 pounds as long as I lose. And I've had a torn meniscus and haven't worked out since February but I'm still losing 1-3 pounds every week. And we aren't even going to mention the inches. I am truly amazed at how many inches I've lost!
Please don't get discouraged. Your body has been through a lot and like all the post-opters here will tell you, you will adjust and soar, just be patient.
Congrats on your weight loss so far and keep your head up.

Your doing fine. I do low carb, which is easy when your top priority is Protein. If your mom sounds disappointed she will have to get over it it's not going to be a fast process,if your doing what your surgeon is telling you to do than then there's no need for disappointment or added stress. I wouldn't worry about how others feel your doing unless it's your surgeon..he's the professional.

    Hi!
I'm almost 3 months post op and I'm losing 3-4 pounds some weeks and 1-2 pounds others. I am 60 pounds down now (43 since surgery) and I'm happy with that. I thought I would go much faster too but my body is not the same size at this weight this time around as it was when I dieted before. I'm wearing clothes now that I couldn't wear at this weight before so I'll take it. I also agree with all the other posters in that I had to stop comparing myself to others and just enjoy the ride. I do like to see a loss every week but I don't care what it is!! LOL
Congratulations, I can't wait to be 16 pounds from goal. I'm going to throw a party when I see 199!!! LOL

Just wanted to share the following with my VSG buddies......

From Beck Diet Solutions website for March 24, 2015 - Tuesday Reality Check

Don't be overly influenced by the number on the scale. If you see a higher number, you may get demoralized and overeat. If you see a lower number, you may think that it’s okay to loosen up and eat more. Remember – the number on the scale is just one point of information and shouldn’t impact how you eat on any given day.

Congratulations to you! And yes, patience is important. I remind myself of that every day! One of my dear friends that had the surgery before me, about 4 years ago now, also told me to never compare my journey to others. She said she and her friend had it at the same time on the same day and within a month, her friend had lost 30 pounds while she had lost 15. She got to her goal within a year but for her sanity, she stopped discussing how much she lost each week and it gave her a sense of peace and focus. That, and to be patient were two life changing pieces of advise for me.
It looks like you're on your way to your new life. Trust me, you will feel like a new person and will never question your decision again. Especially when your clothes start to fall off!!
Congratulations again all the best to you!

I celebrated my two month surgerversary this weekend and boy the difference from month one to month two is night and day. For all you newbies out there, hang in there, it gets better and better.
Month one you're still new and not feeling quite yourself. I have to be honest, I didn't feel "normal" until around week 6 or 7. I also had to get used to the new feeling of hunger. It's now like an uncomfortable feeling or sensation in my esophagus! I hate it but I'm getting more used to it every day.
I also had to train myself to stop eating at the first sign of fullness and let my brain catch up. Otherwise, I would become so frustrated because I would still be head hungry after my belly was full because that happens so fast now. Truth be told, I used start enjoying my lunch on the second sandwich so this is new for me! LOL
I'm also making sure to eat my Protein and drink my Water because in month one I had decided that I didn't like food you had to chew because it would make me really full so I decided I could eat a cup of Soup vs 1/2 cup of anything else. Well, that's not a good plan because soup has a lot of sodium in it and I noticed I was only losing one to no pounds a week! I got back to Proteins, found some that I like which took some work, and I began to drop the pounds.
I admit that I am just adjusting to my new life but I'm happy. Newbies, it takes some getting used to. Take it day by day, follow the rules, keep your carbs and processed food out of your diet and you will be where you dreamed you would be. You can add those things back in moderation after goal as treats if you need them. As for me, I am a potato chip and coffee lover. I now don't love coffee anymore but potato chips are still my enemy! I know, I've had them! The great thing is I was able to have a few, felt full and walked away without feeling guilty.
Today, I am 55 pounds down (I know, I need to update my stats) and I've gotten rid of all of my 2x and 3x clothing items. I'm wearing my 16 skirts and xl shirts and boy did I have fun closet shopping. I cried when I filled those two plastic bags with all my pretty plus sized work clothes because I knew I would never go back to that size again. Everyday someone asks me "how much weight have you lost" and I'm just thrilled to tell them. And this is just the beginning!
I'm ten pounds from my half way mark and I can't wait to see what the next two months hold for me.

Hi everyone, I am 6 weeks out too. I was 267 the day of surgery and I'm 239 today so I'm 28 pounds down since day of surgery but 41 pounds down, including the weight I lost pre-op on the liquid diet. I don't know what the key is, other than the sleeve. I have no appetite, I do try to get in at least 67 oz of Water daily, but I don't eat much and when I do, it's usually Protein shakes or tuna or egg salad. I do struggle with eating every three hours but I'm doing what works for me. This week, I've added cottage cheese with blueberries for Breakfast as opposed to a shake and I've been exercising on my tread climber for 30 minutes at least 4 days a week. I'm happy with my weight loss and would like to continue to average 3-4 pounds a week however, I've decided I've done all I can do. I have had the surgery, and now, I'm just going to live, eat and pray! LOL Time is our friend and in 6 months I want to be one of the ones at a weight that I'm thrilled with, whatever it may be. Until then, I've decided to put my head down, eat like I intend to the for the rest of my life and let my tool do it's job. No more "in 3 months I'll be this, or in 8 months I'll be that" thinking for me. I'm sick and tired of dieting and I've decided to start living.
    Good luck everyone!

Nikki, I don't think you were judging and are asking a very valid question. The sleeve is not magic to all, just some. I have been sleeved and suddenly I don't like coffee, sweets or anything for that matter. I realize I'm still in the early phases but there is a woman that goes to my doctor and she and I had surgery the same day in December. She has already blended a piece of pizza during her puree phase! I don't have those cravings so we're all different. As for exercising and eating right, if we could all do that, we wouldn't have had the sleeve. Being thinner makes it easer to move thus, exercise is not such a burden. But don't let these sleevers make you think that's the magic tool either. Your body will do what it will do. It may lose quickly without a day in the gym (I have two girlfriends that didn't do one bit of exercise and lost 120lbs each in 10 months) or it may lose slow and steady. All you need to do is focus on your journey and your journey only. Eat right, when you possibly can, but enjoy your life and you will be successful. I have not had a day where I craved any junk and I eat a low carb, high Protein diet when I eat. But, I don't eat a lot, I'm not interested. People here would like to give all kind of advice about that but, this is my journey, my body and my labs will tell me what I need to change, if anything. I'm having good success and I feel great. That's what you need to focus on. Get a plan for post surgery for successes and failures and keep moving forward. It doesn't matter if they paid for the surgery or if insurance paid for it, a craving is a craving is a craving and they are not wrong for eating what they want. You don't know what they ate or didn't eat the days before or after. This could have been their cheat days. At any rate, focus on your journey, they'll work theirs out in time. It won't be easy so be to them what you would want someone to be to you. I do not plan on going through life explaining my food choices to anyone, and I told everyone about my surgery. Best wishes to you!

Complications are soooooo individual. I just turned 63 at my one year surgiversary for my sleeve. My oldest sister had a gastric bypass in 2000 with horrific complications including peritonitis and poor healing of the incision. This was not laparascopic. My next youngest sister had a gastric bypass in 2011 and has done very well. She looks and feels great and has lost at least 150 pounds and had plastics done as well to put everything back in place. She looks and feels better now at 55 than she did in high school.
I had my sleeve in December 2013. I have gone from a 53" waist to a 38" waist and have lost 66 pounds. I am a slow loser because of orthopedic and spinal issues making it difficult and painful to exercise, but I am only 14 pounds away from my doctor approving a panni, which would take another 12-15 pounds off, putting me close to goal. I have had ZERO complications, not even the shoulder gas that plagues so many people post-op for a few days.
At 5'4 and 235 pounds, I was almost as round as I was tall. At 5'2" and 267 pounds, you probably are too. You have the advantage of youth on your side and have so much life ahead of you. Excess weight is a thief and steals so much enjoyment from life.
If you are an independant woman, don't say another word, and just go do it. If you are still living with your parents, I like the idea of taking them along for an information session. This is not the easy way out - it will change your life and habits forever and takes new committment every day. I don't doubt that they want you to be healthy; they just are concerned that you might suffer like your mother has.
Don't wait forever. I have been on a diet since 1978, and GAINED an extra 80 pounds. In the end, it is about your own health. At the age of 24 you should be making your own decisions about your health and finding physicians and services that you are comfortable with.

66 pounds lost after wls is awesome! That's 66 pounds you didn't gain, with more to come.
If you find it difficult to conform to the eating habits of the sleeve, do you think you can conform to the requirements if the ds? I'm talking about committing to life long vites, getting labs, and eating high Protein. Although you'll malabsorb protein and fat, you WILL absorb simple and complex carbs.
Give your all to the tool you currently have. Use it and if after 18 months you are still dissatisfied, consider part 2. I wish you the best of luck.

Well, today is my one month surgiversary and I'm happy to say I made it! I'm down 36 pounds and am really just starting to feel like myself again. I've had my share of "WTF" moments but all in all, I do not regret, nor would I change the decision I made.
I feel great, I've gotten my life back. I jump up in the morning with so much energy and believe it or not, with just 36 pounds lost, I don't hate the way I look anymore so I can't wait until 80 pounds lost!
I will be honest and tell you that I never expected to do this much work though. This little stomach is like having a baby! You have to take great care regarding what you put in it, you have to feed it every 3 hours, you have to make sure it gets it's liquids, Vitamins, etc. I mean really, it doesn't sound like much but when you can only consume table spoons at a time, this is a full time job! LOL Thankfully, my sleevie is just like her mom was, she's cast iron! I have not thrown up or burped excessively or had heartburn or acid reflux so I know I'm really blessed in this area. But still, this is a newborn baby. It's the first thing I think of in the morning and the last thing I think of at night!
All in all, at one month, I'm optimistic and hoping that my exercise and good eating habits don't let me down. I can't wait to be a successful sleever. I guess that's my one fear right now. Patience, I know, and time are my friends.
    Thank you for listening.
