    Tomorrow is my surgery 11/17/2015

I pray your surgery went well and you are having a pain-free recovery!

    Grilled chicken breast

Yep, that and really dry rice, which is why I don't eat rice, Pasta or bread. They all give me that feeling for hours. Not worth it. But hang in there, it'll go away.

    VSG and a Hernia Repair

@@sh1211 no I did not. I didn't know I had a hernia until I had an endo. I have no issues with GERD, acid reflux or heartburn now either and I am a spicy food and coffee kinda girl.

    VSG and a Hernia Repair

I had hernia repair and surgery at the same time. I didn't know I had a hernia so I had no issues before and have had no complications or issues with Gerd, acid reflux or heartburn post-op. Best wishes to you!

    So disappointed

Am I missing something? If you had a gastric sleeve surgery, don't you have staples?

    So disappointed

@@kndoster, you're doing fine. I was exactly the same but guess what, we don't all lose at the same pace. Some of us will lose 1 - 3 pounds a week while others are losing 4-5. Don't beat yourself up. Besides, you're still very early In this process. I didn't hit a grove and get through all of the emotional turmoil that comes with having this surgery until I was 2 months out. Now, at three months and 60 pounds down, I feel amazing, I'm happy and I don't care if I lose 1 pound or 3 pounds as long as I lose. And I've had a torn meniscus and haven't worked out since February but I'm still losing 1-3 pounds every week. And we aren't even going to mention the inches. I am truly amazed at how many inches I've lost! Please don't get discouraged. Your body has been through a lot and like all the post-opters here will tell you, you will adjust and soar, just be patient. Congrats on your weight loss so far and keep your head up.

    I got my date

Congratulations! I hope your surgery and recovery go smoothly! Just plan to take it slow, one day at a time, and no comparing yourself to others. The first two months are the learning curve after that it's smooth sailing and will be the best gift you've given yourself. So happy for you!

    ONEderland!

Great job! Hip Hip Horray! I'm so excited for you, 199! Congratulations.
  9. Hi! I'm almost 3 months post op and I'm losing 3-4 pounds some weeks and 1-2 pounds others. I am 60 pounds down now (43 since surgery) and I'm happy with that. I thought I would go much faster too but my body is not the same size at this weight this time around as it was when I dieted before. I'm wearing clothes now that I couldn't wear at this weight before so I'll take it. I also agree with all the other posters in that I had to stop comparing myself to others and just enjoy the ride. I do like to see a loss every week but I don't care what it is!! LOL Congratulations, I can't wait to be 16 pounds from goal. I'm going to throw a party when I see 199!!! LOL

    need to brag a little...!

Good job and congrats to you. You'll be more ready than most people are and I'm sure you'll do fine.

    Patience ........

Congratulations to you! And yes, patience is important. I remind myself of that every day! One of my dear friends that had the surgery before me, about 4 years ago now, also told me to never compare my journey to others. She said she and her friend had it at the same time on the same day and within a month, her friend had lost 30 pounds while she had lost 15. She got to her goal within a year but for her sanity, she stopped discussing how much she lost each week and it gave her a sense of peace and focus. That, and to be patient were two life changing pieces of advise for me. It looks like you're on your way to your new life. Trust me, you will feel like a new person and will never question your decision again. Especially when your clothes start to fall off!! Congratulations again all the best to you!
  12. I celebrated my two month surgerversary this weekend and boy the difference from month one to month two is night and day. For all you newbies out there, hang in there, it gets better and better. Month one you're still new and not feeling quite yourself. I have to be honest, I didn't feel "normal" until around week 6 or 7. I also had to get used to the new feeling of hunger. It's now like an uncomfortable feeling or sensation in my esophagus! I hate it but I'm getting more used to it every day. I also had to train myself to stop eating at the first sign of fullness and let my brain catch up. Otherwise, I would become so frustrated because I would still be head hungry after my belly was full because that happens so fast now. Truth be told, I used start enjoying my lunch on the second sandwich so this is new for me! LOL I'm also making sure to eat my Protein and drink my Water because in month one I had decided that I didn't like food you had to chew because it would make me really full so I decided I could eat a cup of Soup vs 1/2 cup of anything else. Well, that's not a good plan because soup has a lot of sodium in it and I noticed I was only losing one to no pounds a week! I got back to Proteins, found some that I like which took some work, and I began to drop the pounds. I admit that I am just adjusting to my new life but I'm happy. Newbies, it takes some getting used to. Take it day by day, follow the rules, keep your carbs and processed food out of your diet and you will be where you dreamed you would be. You can add those things back in moderation after goal as treats if you need them. As for me, I am a potato chip and coffee lover. I now don't love coffee anymore but potato chips are still my enemy! I know, I've had them! The great thing is I was able to have a few, felt full and walked away without feeling guilty. Today, I am 55 pounds down (I know, I need to update my stats) and I've gotten rid of all of my 2x and 3x clothing items. I'm wearing my 16 skirts and xl shirts and boy did I have fun closet shopping. I cried when I filled those two plastic bags with all my pretty plus sized work clothes because I knew I would never go back to that size again. Everyday someone asks me "how much weight have you lost" and I'm just thrilled to tell them. And this is just the beginning! I'm ten pounds from my half way mark and I can't wait to see what the next two months hold for me. Thank you to EVERY ONE OF YOU on this board for letting me come here on many occasions and cry, lament, complain. Thank you for always giving me encouragement and "tough love" and sending me back out into the fight. I can't express how important this board has been to me even though most times I "lurk". You're helping a lot more than one person when you post so thank you!

  14. I'm so sick of drinking Protein shakes! I didn't have this surgery to drink Protein shakes and eat chicken, or basically low carb for the rest of my life!! I knew I would have to drink shakes and eat protein during the healing phase but at what point does the healthy diet come into play? The reason for my tantrum today is that I'm 7 weeks post op, 44 pounds down 28 since surgery (need to update my stats) and have lost a pound a week for the last three weeks. And this week, nothing! I'm so tired of having to focus on this. I've been working out three times a week and I expected to see results, fruits of my labor so to speak! I know to some of you it sounds completely unreasonable but I'm still a newbie so let me have this one! I want a salad and fruit and Soup but it doesn't matter what I eat this last week or so, I've not lost more than a pound. I surely hope at six months out I'm further along than I am now. Do I feel 100% better, absolutely, do I look better, surely and those two things alone make it worth it but I guess I never thought I'd still be 236 pounds since I feel like I'm basically starving. Thank you vets for letting me rant, but I feel like this is a full time job, worrying about Water, weight, eating and I'm just frustrated today.

Weight loss at 6 weeks post op

Hi everyone, I am 6 weeks out too. I was 267 the day of surgery and I'm 239 today so I'm 28 pounds down since day of surgery but 41 pounds down, including the weight I lost pre-op on the liquid diet. I don't know what the key is, other than the sleeve. I have no appetite, I do try to get in at least 67 oz of Water daily, but I don't eat much and when I do, it's usually Protein shakes or tuna or egg salad. I do struggle with eating every three hours but I'm doing what works for me. This week, I've added cottage cheese with blueberries for Breakfast as opposed to a shake and I've been exercising on my tread climber for 30 minutes at least 4 days a week. I'm happy with my weight loss and would like to continue to average 3-4 pounds a week however, I've decided I've done all I can do. I have had the surgery, and now, I'm just going to live, eat and pray! LOL Time is our friend and in 6 months I want to be one of the ones at a weight that I'm thrilled with, whatever it may be. Until then, I've decided to put my head down, eat like I intend to the for the rest of my life and let my tool do it's job. No more "in 3 months I'll be this, or in 8 months I'll be that" thinking for me. I'm sick and tired of dieting and I've decided to start living. Good luck everyone!

    Food.. I hate you

I too am completely uninterested in food since my surgery however, I didn't have this issue before my surgery. I was an emotional eater too but I was VERY interested in where my next meal, snack or victim was coming from! LOL I'm glad to see it's not just me at this phase, 6 weeks out. I was wondering the other day if I would ever want to eat again. I get hungry and thank God, satisfied very easily but I don't want to eat most times because I'm just not enjoying it these days. Oh well, I'll take this time to get the weight off so I'll be combat ready when the joy does return! Best wishes to you.

    Day after tomorrow!

Congratulations and speedy recovery! Remember for some, the first few days, weeks and even months are not the best but it will be worth it in the end. Never doubt that. I wish you the best procedure, recovery and journey possible!
  20. I agree with all the previous posters about you being your own woman and making decisions that are good for YOU, not based on what happened to one of your parents. With that being said, let's say you do vomit like a dog after the anesthesia and do experience horrible gas pains. So What! It won't last forever and you still will find it to be worth it! This surgery is not a magic bullet or pill, you will have to do work. But unlike with traditional diets, there's also a metabolic change that occurs and you will find that you will want to eat right and be able to move and work out more quickly. I say you are only 24 years old, go for it and live the rest of your life in a more manageable, healthy body. You have no idea how much life you've already given up until you have it back! Also, it's perfectly normal to be nervous and second guess yourself after approval and days leading up to surgery. Most of us have done that too, but when you know that you know you're doing the right thing, you just persevere and follow through. That will be something you'll need to do over and over again before you reach your goal weight. Best of everything to you and keep us posted!
  21. Congratulations! I can't wait to join you!
  22. Well, today is my one month surgiversary and I'm happy to say I made it! I'm down 36 pounds and am really just starting to feel like myself again. I've had my share of "WTF" moments but all in all, I do not regret, nor would I change the decision I made. I feel great, I've gotten my life back. I jump up in the morning with so much energy and believe it or not, with just 36 pounds lost, I don't hate the way I look anymore so I can't wait until 80 pounds lost! I will be honest and tell you that I never expected to do this much work though. This little stomach is like having a baby! You have to take great care regarding what you put in it, you have to feed it every 3 hours, you have to make sure it gets it's liquids, Vitamins, etc. I mean really, it doesn't sound like much but when you can only consume table spoons at a time, this is a full time job! LOL Thankfully, my sleevie is just like her mom was, she's cast iron! I have not thrown up or burped excessively or had heartburn or acid reflux so I know I'm really blessed in this area. But still, this is a newborn baby. It's the first thing I think of in the morning and the last thing I think of at night! All in all, at one month, I'm optimistic and hoping that my exercise and good eating habits don't let me down. I can't wait to be a successful sleever. I guess that's my one fear right now. Patience, I know, and time are my friends. Thank you for listening.
  23. Steve, hilarious! I was wondering the same thing. Why on earth, when you're overweight and trying to qualify for a surgery that could and will change your life, would you NOW become a health nut! LOL If you need to gain 10 pounds in 10 days I'm sure you remember how it's done. Now, go little grasshopper, to the store and get er done! LOL Oh, and enjoy because that will be the last time you eat that much volume! I was sleeved a month ago and am down 42 pounds and would have eaten whatever I needed to gain weight. Best wishes to you.
  24. oatmealgirl

    Got sleeved today

Congratulations Amyecpa! Yes, I had that dry heaving and nausea even with the medication. I always have it after I have anesthesia. Even with the anti-nausea medication, which they could only give you every 4 hours, I had dry heaves about every 2.5 hours until I could get my dose. I would unhook my legs and unplug the IV and walk anyway. That gas that gets trapped in your chest that doesn't feel like gas but does hurt will go away on day two if you walk. I'm so sorry you're having a rough time. Day three, you will be a new person. I promise. Hang in there!
