  1. I cannot wait to start hearing that question lol. I guess its easy when you dont hear it , to like it. I guess the polite answer would be, " When my body finds the weight it wants to be at." The snarky answer would be "When you stop asking," and the rude answer would be " When you mind your own business." , But you done great so far from what I see, so maybe its a Water on a ducks back type of thing? Keep up the great work!

  4. talk to your surgical team and nutritionist, almost anything in pill form for a while post surgery is for most an absolute no no. and many herbs have harsh effects on the stomach and digestive tract.

  6. looks like we got hit by a troll spammer who clogged things up.
  7. Those are also the symptoms of dehydration, as well. How much liquid are you getting in? You should be getting in at least 64 ounces plus your "meals" Low blood sugar should only be a factor if you have diabetes, or hypoglycemia. Especially since your pretty much living on low to no sugar for quite awhile after surgery. I would contact your doctor or ER. you may need a good bag or two of Fluid IV to get you back up to hydrated. By always contact your team. Good luck!

  9. where are you having the surgery in boston or somewhere else? I just had mine at Saint elizabeths
  10. sugar free Jello and sugar free pudding kept me sane that and looking at the scale in the morning.
  11. Really, i thought you thought that i thought you knew?
  12. people stop jumping down her throat,, sheesh she didn't attack anyone she didn't yell at them or tell them they did wrong, if it was me or you you would also wonder how they ate a whole plate of nachos, its not that they had a little cheat here or there, if youre a new sleeve its horrible that you would risk your health like that but she didnt say it or show it she just asked about it here in a supposedly safe place so get off her back. I told th story here about one of my surgeons patients who on the way home from the hospital stopped at mcdonald's for chicken nuggets and wound up in the ICU for 3 weeks while they healed her stomach. If i told that story again would you say it was judgemental, or maybe a cheat day? No so get over yourselves. Someone asks a question and you accuse them of being judgemental, as you are judging them.
  13. i think the difference here is many of you who have said you ate this or that are also at or past our goal. if a few week old person at a plate of nachos yeah i would have to think they will fail, and as we all know people do fail, its not uncommon. and as we also know some people never solve their eating problems and rebound back to where they were before the surgery and while it stuns me to go through all this just to fail, I can certainly understand how it happens. instead of being appalled or flabbergasted, take pity on them and go your own way. They have to live their own lives.
  14. i had really bad reflux thanks to being overweight and a past sleep apnea surgery that opens your throat and a hiatal hernia. etc. Mine was so bad i wound up with aspiration pneumonia more than a dozen times. which is one step from choking to death while you sleep. Since my surgery and weight loss i have not had one hint of reflux. I was able to stop the ranitidine 4 days post op and havent needed even a tums since. It has been wonderful.
  15. i stopped for indian food on the wy home from my clearance visit. chcken vindaloo yum, nice easy chunks of stewed chicken in sauce with some very soft vegetables. That was my first real food, was excellent. i ust got cleared for all foods the ther day and i had a square of pizza about 1 inch by 1 inch, basically a bite as a celebration, then felt guilty about it lol. but it was the taste i was after and i tasted great lol.
  16. listen to these ladies they are two of the best.
  17. wow i just got my 6 week clearance and was only now allowed to eat lettuce and only in very small quantities. I don't know of anyone who eats salads post op for a while as its not Protein. remember Proteins first then other calories if you have to. My personal journey is different but ask your nutritionist as lettuce is hard to digest well actually cellulose is indigestible but its heavy Fiber and that can make for some interesting sleeve problems. I am told. I just got cleared to have about 5 or 6 small pieces of lettuce or about 1 full lettuce leaf to try for a few weeks, but again i dont know where I would possibly fit a salad into my food plan, and I love salad. you eat such small portions 1 bottle of salad dressing would last me about a year at this point. You may want to rethink about how much you will get to eat after surgery. You do know for the first 3 to 4 months depending on surgeon you could have as little as 1/4 cup of food for a meal after your liquid phase, right?
  18. at 6.5 weeks you dont have staples really anymore. your suture line is well healed by now 9provided you didn't have any post-op problems or need other surgeries etc. I should say, should've been well healed by now.
  19. you both will do wonderfully. Welcome aboard and read as much as you can from previous posts and ask about anything and everything. Listen to your docs and do not be afraid to ask every single question you can think of. You can do this, and im only 5 weeks out, down many pounds and many inches. It is worth it. Welcome!
  20. Did your doctor give you a scrip for zofran or other anti nausea drug? if so give it time to work in the morning before drinking a shake.
  21. i guess im lucky my friends love to talk about how good i look and offer encouragement. I will say you mentioned they put you on display to show off your weight loss. Why are you uncomfortable with that? it seems like thats a huge compliment. I mean, are they doing it snidely or making jokes about you? I personally look forward to looking better to show it off a bit, how can you resist not doing that? Then there is the most obvious , instead of dumping your friends ( like friends grow on trees cmon people) maybe say hey guys lets not talk about the weight loss please. How do people know what you want unless you speak up and tell them? Maybe they think they are just being friendly and supportive by saying how good you look. And if someone says you won't get thinner than they are..so what? let them think it, then if you do, they wont be able to say anything. I will say why would your family or friends not be seen with you prior to surgery, because you were fat? if thats the case then you describe them wrong when you say friend or family. change that to someone you know and relative. no friend would not be seen with you. Now is it possible that was in your mind? or did they all come out and say hey we wont be seen with you because your not thin?
  22. sounds funny but one of the re op nurses told me to ask for IV Tylenol. i know its weird but its also expensive as heck, Thank the insurance for that one though...i hope. but it really made a huge difference along with the Toradol. i refused to use the morphine pump, because of my sleep apnea. but doing the IV Tylenol and Toradol kept me just fine. and my bed also turned into a chair. which was awesome.
  23. Heck i wore sweatpants there and then a Johnnie, crocs for ease of use, but they wouldn't allow clothes under the Johnnie, one because of the leg inflation things, and two i had thigh high te stockings on as well. so every time that sweet, young brand new out of school nurse came to check my bandages she got an eye full. lol Thankfully pain meds and age made me really not care. It was chilly under there....lol
  24. Maybe its me but where is this comparison chart? I don't see it?
  25. Im only 5 weeks in, but Being able to open up, or maybe it is being forced to open up to my wife about how I feel about myself. About all the things that we keep to ourselves about being obese, has definitely brought us closer. I feel like I can share anything, no matter how embarrassing, or how personal, without fear. Since this is a journey for both of us, me in finding myself and for her in seeing the changes in me and learning to cope with everything I do to cope with my journey, has made is into a singular entity focused on me getting healthy and thinner. My wife's name is hope and she lives up to that in every way for me. P.S. It is easier to get close to someone when there is not a lot of fat in the way.
