SYNTRAX NECTAR-Does anyone have any receipes or ideas of what this can be mixed with in addition to water.
Now the nectar sweets i mix with 1% milk, those are choclate, vanilla torte and strawbery mousse as well as my beloved cappuccino. 5 to 6 oz of 1% milk 1 1/2 scoops of mix and blend to mix. love it. i will say in the summer using ice with a few small pieces of frozen fruit will be a big easy way to cool down, and with unsweetened iced tea really picks up the flavor especially strawberries and raspberries, even blue berries are good, mangoes though, oh the best. but i nevr use more than 3 or 4 pieces of fruit in a smoothie.

Yes indeed i consoder myself a Syntrax junkie. i love almost all the flavors nectars and sweets. except the grape (yech) but try mixing the fuzzy navel with diet lemonade or unsweetened or diet iced tea, you can mix almost all the fruit flavors with dit iced tea. or the diet lemonade. I also used to make a super Protein drink with 3 ounces of isopure black tea with lemon 3 ounces of unswwetened iced tea, and 1 1/2 scoops of syntrax fuzzy navel or lemonade. 40 grams of protein 1 6 ounce drink and mighty tasty. I have also used the black cheery propel fitness Water with cherry nectar, and the lifewater fuji apple pear with the green apple.

trust me you are describing me perfectly except i have a shake for lunch most work days. but yep eating is now getting boring it is no longer something i look forward to. Which i guess is part of how we get past the need to eat for fun or to eat for taste etc. so i understand it. But yep it is very boring lol

1 week post op protein problems....
genepro is a joke. its a lie they tell you to use much less Protein saying that their blend is like getting 30 grams of protein but they are saying that as if you cant absorb protein which isnt true so genepro right of is a very very bad idea it doesnt give you anywhere near enough protein which is probably why your body is starving itself along with dehydration. please do not rely on the GENEPRO or at least put in three to four times as much as it calls for.

1 week post op protein problems....
yep try the Syntrax fuzzy navel, ( i love the Cappuccino as well but thats with milk for m so its thicker,) but the fuzzy navel pink grapefruit and cherry and the apple even ( not the grape) all mix with Water and you can mix them with ike 5 ounces of water and do a scoop and a half of mix, so you get 39 grams of Protein in one 5 to 6 ounces serving so its much easier to fit in your little sleeve!. if you go the isopure ready made clear drinks, go with alpine punch and orange frost, and the black tea with lemon those are the good ones.

Need some quick responses
Simple responses 1. Thank you for your heartwarming concern. 2. You need to operate on your attitude. 3. I had surgery for weight loss, when do you go in for a personality transplant? 4. (and my favorite), wow , your life must really suck to make you have to insult others to make yourself feel good.

Halfway on Hump Dayyy!
So today i weighed in at 265 pounds which now measure my lost weight at 97 pounds and gives me 95 to go. I have officially past the halfway mark, the tipping point, over the hump! To those awaiting surgery, or struggling those few days or so after post op, take it from me, the feeling is....indescribable. Every day we rewrite the pages n the book of our lives and make them better for us and those who love us. To be honest when i first started along this journey I repeatedly said if I could just get below 300 pounds it would be a huge success for me and I would be happy. But when you follow your plan and things o right, the outcome is well just great, and heck im not afraid to say when i hit my 100 pound loss in a few days (3.2 pounds left to go) I will probably be a bit emotional about it as well. So many people here have helped me get this far and I thank you all. and to those just starting out..You Can Do This!!

Drinking Sodas with sleeve?
oh if your stuck on sodas but cant do carbonation i have a solution, you can buy the sodastream product mixes and mix them up with 1 liter of Water and bingo i use it for my red bull addiction, i use the red bull mix ( yes im allowed caffeine because it does not irritate my sleeve, im lucky i know) to make a bottle of red bull . they have all kinds of flavors for diet drinks. but id give i wasnt allowed caffeine until my 6 weeks post op. they do also have a caffeine free die coke version as well. i tried some carbonated beverage, but i can only take about 2 good sips before the burping is obnoxious and its not very comfortable. so i do without.

Drinking Sodas with sleeve?
lol you can never stretch your stomach out to anywhere near the original size. period end of story. the fundus ( the elastic part of your stomach ) is removed gone, bye bye, it dont grow back, humans do not regenerate organs. Now your stomach will stretch a bit over time, but you will not stop that, it has to happen or else you wont take in enough nutrition. You will not get fat stretching your stomach you WILL get fat eating the wrong foods, like tix bars and cake and pizza and onion rings a, hmm miss those, etc etc.

Your insurance company is NOT the enemy.
Actually she is right to a point, many insurance agencies that would otherwise cover WLS do not cover it due to a specific exclusion rider chosen by the employer who offers the plan. this saves them money in their premiums, for example my wifes company excludes tufts from covering wls, so i had to pick up insurance through my company which has tufts, because my company does not exclude anything. Now i had a hard time but that was due to paperwork issues. Now my company has just been bought out by a company in another state and they ise BCBS of tx which does cover WLS, but i checked into it to see about the panniculectomy and was told by my new company that they exclude all wls surgeries and related surgeries as well as fertility treatments, ( not worried about that lol) Now some states do not allow exclusions but they are few and far between, new hampshire is one, i think indiana, and washington, but dont quote me on those.

Frozen meals - lean cuisine weight watchers...
personally i tried using lean cuisine ( stay away from the atkins meals they are LOADED in sugar and carbs) but only two met my requirements, Swedish meatballs, and meatloaf, my nutritionist agreed that in a pinch like if i forgot lunch at work etc, i could eat just the meatballs out of the Swedish meatballs one, ( comes with noodles which i dont eat) but i found it easier to just make a bunch of small meatballs and pre-package them and freeze some for those occasions. but i do tend to fall back and have a Protein shake for lunch at work, on like 4 times a week which my nutritionist hates, but It really helps me, and i dont get a break for lunch so i need something i can make easily and quickly and a shake works great. But thats me. just my opinion. enjoy.

Only losing 1lbs a day
comparing weight loss to others will only lead in heartache, you wont lose as fast as some or as slowly as others, its the way it is. your weight loss is to get to a goal weight. if you set too many mini goals you'll get discouraged easily, same if you just have one goal then the task can seem too daunting. Take it as it comes, follow your plan and be happy with your results.

Guess What?!
You can and will do great. Have no doubt.

How Closely Do You Stick to the Program?
I find that I have very little leeway in my "program" although the nutritionist has allowed me more carbs , I don't even touch them if I can help it, I literally maybe once a week will have like a tablespoon of mashed potatoes, or maybe a third of a piece of toast that's about it or one morning I may have 1/4 cup of cheerios for Breakfast, with 1/4 cup of 1% milk. but I haven't done that for about two weeks now, its kind of a oh gosh im going to be late for work kind of thing. but then I have to supplement the Protein. I will say I have a weird weight loss. I go three days a week in a row with no discernible loss then will have 3 or 4 days where I lose 4/5 of a pound and wind up with a 4 to 5 pound loss in the week. But as long as the weight goes down in the end im happy.

Who else has been through this and conquered it?
its been tough to keep it up this winter ( no get your head out of the gutter :-) ) im just south of boston in Weymouth. With so much snow still on the ground ( you know its bad when after all this time you still have 2 feet minimum on the ground and still 8 to 10 feet piles in other places too. Youll get past it all, you certainly have the right attitude. Keep it up someday we will see spring and with spring, new hopes for the future. lol

Does everyone meet their protein goal every day?
Your body can absorb more than 20grams of protein per hour , 40 grams in your sleeve at one time is about the maximum it everyone's body absorbs differently when I need to I use a scoop and a half of syntrax products with 5 Olof 1%milk or water and I get 38 to 39 grams of protein per and it has worked great so far all my labs are great no hair loss no side effects , so be careful using not true facts please

Sleeve or Lap Band? Scared of making wrong choice!
You CANNOT Stretch your stomach back out again, it CANNOT happen. they remove the fundus, which is the elastic part of the stomach so you have very little stretch left, that's why the sleeve is not a temporary fix its a lifetime decision. There was a link to great article by a surgeon about this ill see if i can find it. now i should qualify that stretching statement by saying your stomach will never stretch to near where it once was, it will stretch somewhat from surgical size, but nowhere near to the size a normal stomach would. hERE READ THIS: ( THANK YOU TO jAMIE FOR THE LINK) http://tinyurl.com/qxchkcv

Calcium-Free Protein
your only choice would be a non whey based Protein, which i know nothing about. but they do make hemp protein, and plant protein etc mixes, vegan mixes would work, but 6 hours?? , that seems a bit long, i take my Vitamin with Iron 1 hour after my morning meal, then 2 hours later i have an chewable calcium and i have my Protein shake and that is at m nutrition and surgeons schedule,. my numbers are all nice and high. But to each surgeon their own. Everyone's surgeon has different guidelines.

3 days post op starving!
the grumbling is dual cause one from acid and two just from the new stomach getting used to itself i guarantee the hunger is really in your head, its the hard part to beat you have to think about why youre doing this and let that be your guide.

1 year post op. How much have you lost in 1 year including preop weight loss
you should always qualify the Muscle weighs more than fat , by adding, By Volume to it, because otherwise its not really true a pound of muscle is the same as a pound of fat or a pound of feathers, but the same volume of muscle weighs more than fat . I know im nitpicking. lol

1 year post op. How much have you lost in 1 year including preop weight loss
dont measure yourself against anyone else, it will only upset you or them. everyone is different, and thats a fact. youve done great things, if anyone worries about thier weight loss, we all know exactly what we eat and how much we exercise, so everyone knows if we arent doing what we should, or if we are on a slow and steady path to thindom. ( yes i know its not a word)
-
Pre op worries
eventually you will be able to eat whatever you like to a degree, yont be able to eat as muchby a lot. what you have to do is adapt, you need to find things that replace food, and alcohol, can you go drink 12 beers and get trashed? no, good luck getting one beer in, unlesss you nurse it and since most beers have a huge amount of carbs and sugar and calories you really wouldnt want to. SO what about hard alcohol, well with a smaller stomach alcohol is moving into your intestines faster than normally which means it hits your bloodstream a LOT faster and harder, I have heard it said sleevers absorb alcohol into the blood at a rate 5 to 7 times faster than a non sleever would. Even more so for a bypass patient. so you have to be careful i did a half shot during the superbowl, and really felt it, and not only did i feel it, it also put me in a stall for 4 days, so i dont advise it. besides be the sober one , its easily worth the weight loss.i wish i had done it in my twenties id trade drunkenness for being thin and not being the fat one in the group anyday.
