  1. i put this story on my blog but itts worth the quick retell. i was in walmart buying underwear because heck mine were floating on me, so just for giggles i grabbed a black suit jacket off the rack, and said to my wife " im just curious" and the damn thing fit beautifully. I was absolutely stunned. not only did it fit, but its the first time in my life i have been able to fit into something like that off the rack not in a big and tall section and not without needing alterations, or being labelled portly or wide cut etc. i actually kinda teared up for a second. weird such a moment in a walmart lol.
  2. myfav's are Irregardless is not an actual word. The word you should use is regardless. and I could care less”,actually means you do care
  3. thankfully my office allows me to war athletic stuff all the time so i wear mysports clothes, from work right to the gym and since its all elastic pants i get to wear them longer than normal. i only have one pair of black dresspants to wear out. and 1 semi dresy shirt , thats it lol but i LOVE IT.
  4. its a denial thing, its how we enable ourselves to be who we are. I compare it to smoking. For many years while i smoked i would talk to other smokers and say " i dont even want to quit, I enjoy my cigarettes and i enjoy being a smoker." the truth that we dont admit or even see is that we are rationalizing our lifestyle by saying those things. We give ourselves a coping mechanism to why we are the way we are. So to say i enjoy my food and drink, well didnt we all? if we didnt enjoy it we wouldnt have been where we were/are. its a catch 22 in that respect. now while i do not tell people hey get WLS your fat. I cannot help but wonder if i had been talked to years before how much happier and healthier i would be now. Heck i used to walk with two canes and that was just over a year ago, now i ride 10 miles on a exercise bike. the diffferences are extreme, and i never knew this could even be possible. When people would say on tv and such, how much energy they have, i thought they were all just lying and saying it for advertising etc. but its the damn truth.
  5. ty, wish i used any of those , but nope.
  6. Everyone becomes an offended party for somewhat different reasons. Whether it be a perception issue, or an incorrect tone used in the writing of a post. However my own pet peeve, if you will , is people who complain about other people complaining. If you do not like a post, or the grammar used in said post, then do not read it. The choice is yours, whether or not to read it, it is not up to you to require others to post in a manner that you like and feel comfortable with. This is not formal dining, nor is it a rational discourse on the human condition. It is an internet forum, and while openly acerbic, demeaning and/or expletive-laced insults, are not tolerated by those in power. There is leeway for somewhat contentious dialogue however. In the words of comedian Edward Murphy, "this ain't Burger King, You don't get it your way, you take what you get, or you don't get the Mother****** ." I trust this is a rational answer to your rant. Thank you. And have a wonderful day.
  7. lack of tissue or fat in the tailbone area is a real issue, i sit on coccyx cushions at work and at home, even the best office chair still makes me feel like someones trying to grab my colon via my butt whenever i get up. Worst is riding the exercise bike at the gym, every 10 minutes i have to adjust my butt or else it fels like the seat attempting to go where no man has gone before...or woman for that matter but i digress, There is that old saying "Rectum?" ""Nah I damned near killed em!"
  8. What your talking about does indeed sound like neuropathy, which has many causes. From disc issues, to spine issues, to more serious issues. I wont go into those as there is no need to scare anyone or be irresponsible. Suffice it to say, talk with your doctor. good luck.
  9. Band07 i have to ask, why would you possibly do a revision to a bypass with only 30 pounds left to lose? i would honestly, and again this is just me, slap any doctor i found that would agree to that surgery. Even if you fel you cannot maintain.
  10. Personally my surgeon has stated 12 to 18 months for plastics because after getting much lower your body needs to adjust to you atthe new weight before you surgically remove even more. Although for me, im probably only going to get away with a panniculectomy and were gonna have to show that it interferes with sex in order to qualify through insurance. any other skin will have to stay, no way to get that kind of cash or a loan since im already in a bankruptcy anyway. so ill live with it.
  11. Please remember this, ( a kis is just a kiss, a sigh is just a sigh...) oh wait sorry wandered off there. But, noi one here can make up your mind, you have to do a lot of soul searching. this is not something to be entered into lightly. Once altered you will NEVER be normal again. You can look great and feel great but your stomach cannot ever grow back. its not possible physically, ever period. That's a big burden to bear, so please do not tread lightly into these waters. If you have doubts, they will be magnified, if you cannot give up food as your friend, then do not do this. It takes more than just the want to be thin and buy new clothes ( although its fun as hell but i digress) its all about life-saving changes to make you into a happy and HEALTHY person. It's about shedding the fat person skin and becoming the you that you knew could exist but doesn't now. Its all up to you. We will be here for support and hugs, but like Smokey The Bear Says, Only you...
  12. umm sounds to me like you went way over the deep end. diarrhea after surgery is not uncommon and usually subsides within a few days 3 to 5 usually. Surgeon do not follow up a few days later they expect you to follow up with them if needed and only if needed. two days after my surgery i was on the floor of my living room crying like a baby because i had a migraine so bad i would've done anything to make it stop, but i didn't call the surgeon because there is nothing surgical about it. So my wife emailed the nutritionist who had the nurse practitioner call my wife to have her go and get some liquid Tylenol, and she did and i got better after cold compresses and liquid Tylenol. ( btw works amazingly well, tastes like ass, but works so much faster than pills or gels etc.) The point here is, that you have to not freak out over something so mundane as diarrhea. good luck, keep moving forward in your journey.
  13. could be lots of things, gastritis like you said, an ulcer which would be very bad, but that would give you blood not bloody flecks. sounds more like reflux or hiatal hernia type discomfort. as to the headache most post surgical type migraines, ( mine knocked me to the floor) are related to being dehydrated, chronic dehydration will cause chronic migraines. get your Fluid intake up. make sure you eat slowly and chew extra fully, etc. and talk to your doc. Good luck.
  14. honestly before i would go in for a manual disimpaction, i would try a fleet enema. Have someone who cares administer it if you can not do so on your own, , ther is a old saying hard hot and hellofa lot, basically squeeze that enema bottle hard make sure its as hot as you can stand ( do not burn yourself!) and lube it up well the tip that is, trust me, its the way to go. miralax can take days to work and doesnt work too well on very hard stools. good luck. (this is not medical advice nor is it intended to be such, it is not intended to treat any symptoms, diseases or conditions, and I in know way replace the advice of your own medical personnel.)
  15. i still have it, i use sugar free breath drops, and trader joes has some great sugar free mint that are strong and i like em. i also keep mouthwash in my office as well as toothbrush etc. but mints and the sugar free drops help a lot. i use the mouthwash without alcohol, i dont need to burn my mouth out lol. good luck.
  16. Personally dont like atjkins, too much saturated fat for me, and wayy too many calories, but as I often say and words to live by everyone is different, what doesnt work for everyone else could work for you, its totally an individual thing. Good luck!
  17. if you like i do video taste tests of many flavors and varieties of Protein shakes. heres my youtube link or you can also watch them on my blog, whichever you prefer. https://www.youtube.com/channel/UC9YtO83j45OsMIY1l1p_rNw/videos
  18. Umm, as to the wont see a weight change in the first month??? Says who? i lost 30 pounds my first month actually a bit over that. Please dont make wide spread statements like that. Everyones journey is completely different, if you didnt lose weight in the first month , thats your journey, not anyone else's thank you.
  19. for me Protein bars are a strict no no, my nutritionist outlawed them like the plague. So for me i wont touch any of them, 99% of them have WAYYY too many carbs anyway, i keep my carbs to 10g or under per day in most cases. I do recommend trying syntax nectars though especially the fuzzy navel, and wild cherry, and grapefruit for people who dont like shakes, if you like kool aid or mio then you'll do fin with those go on ebay, and order the single serving packets to try them, ( use Water or diet iced tea with them and they're great. mix amazingly well with fruit if you wish and ice in the summer as well. especially mango and strawberries and peach, yum,
  20. a coworker of my wife was sexually assaulted by a dolphin while swimming with them in florida, and from what i understand its not an uncommon occurrence either. which strikes me as weird . i think this thread got of course fast, the difference between thinking that you want to help someone ( great humanitarian thought) to walking up to someone telling them they are fat and telling them how t fix it, is leagues apart, and lipsticklady never said she would do such a thing. people went way off base here folks, i wish people would do better reading and not inferring. That being said there is a saying the psychiatrist i went to said and that was, "Overweight people who are happy being overweight, are also happy being in denial." when i asked about that she stated that clinically people who are hapy being overweight have developed as a coping mechanism, the ability to ignore thier won weight on a daily basis. Now I am not a psychiatrist etc so I have no idea, but im assuming it is akin to when i was a smoker I used to say i was happy being a smoker and really enjoyed it and id didnt quit because i didnt want to. I know looking back it was a cop out to my addiction but again thats just me, i cant project that on others.
  21. we actually agree on the end point blerdgirl, i think a lot of people eat fast food out of laziness disguised as convenience, i know i did, and yes i save alot more buying food portioning it and cooking it myself, heck i can get a ton of meals out of a head of broccoli compared to the small amount i get ot of a bag of frozen, or even pre cut. my current favs are a half turkey half beef meatloaf i bought individual little loaf pans and i make a half dozen or so at a time and then freeze them right in the pan then when its meatloaf night just refrigerate leave for work come home pop em in the oven and bang. its too easy. and the butcher i go to loves the fact i eat Protein almost exclusively and always jokes about cutting up things for me. i personally love many of the vegan products on the market, no im far from vegan but these products do help me with my weight loss, as I know youre probably aware of how good they can be. For example theres a brand called Maya Kaimal, Indian foods, i love the chickpea chips, and they are sending me a bunch of free foods to taste test for my blog, i love Indian food spices sit very well with my sleeve and they keep chicken from getting boring and many are vegan , in addition to say coupons etc, this is a way i supplement my food bill as well. heck ive had so many free shake mixes, drinks, and food for taste tests its been wonderful.
  22. Blerdgirl as i said i do believe it to be cheaper when taken in the long run, but cheaper now is different than cheaper overall. For example if i buy 15 dollars worth of bread and deli meats i can make sandwiches for the week at a cost of 3 dollars pr sandwich, but i have to outlay 15 dollars, i have to take the time to shop , take the time to make the sandwiches each day. i have to have something to pack them in, maybe they dont have the ability to refrigerate per se at work. So they take the easy way out, they spend 5 dollars a day buying a 5 dollar combo meal at wherever, now to them them its easier and cheaper to purchase the daily sandwich/burger etc than it is to make the food instead. Now obviously they could save even more if they bought some chicken breasts maybe cooked them all on sunday slice em up to be made into sandwiches each day but to many people they wont take that time to do it and they would rather pay 5 bucks a day than 15 bucks at once. But i do think that most of it is laziness wrapped up in what we call convenience.
  23. the show is so painful to watch, because so many times you just want to reach into the screen and shake people. I mean cant the daughter see what's happening and realize she is well well on her way to being there herself? i know im being judgemental, but its so hard not to be. Maybe when they see themselves on tv it will be a wake-up call, i hope. i just dont want people to go through what so many of us obviously have., sigh. maybe its selfish to think that way.I dunno.
  24. when people say fast food is cheaper, i think its true to a point, of course, its not cheaper when you look at how much wight gain costs you in medical bill, clothes sizes, etc etc. But in many cases such as inner cities it is in fact much cheaper, in NYC for example, large grocery stores are rare and many people have the choice of small boutique stores, bodegas etc or speciality shops, butcher shops for meats, etc, so it can be daunting, I will agree a big part of this is convenience aka laziness on the part of people, it's easier to grab something than it is to cook, A friend described it as they work until 5 bu due to transportation issues they dont get home until 6:45 then if they cook they dont get to eat until 7:30 8 o'clock and they dont have time to eat that late, so grabbing something is the option many people choose, also for people who cannot save, they cannot drop 100 bucks at a time on a weeks groceries, so they spend the 5 or 6 bucks to get the meal daily. SO there are many contributing factors, but all in all if you make the time and effort it surely canbe done. I know i never realized how much i spent on fast food and eating out until this surgery, which forced me to cook more, which i love anyway but was so lazy and tired every day coming home from work, i just got into those lazy habits and the rest is history. Now i make sure i am prepped and ready for meals as im sure many of us are. I know on gym nights for example i have my chicken already cut , marinated , and my pots or pans are out and ready etc. , i start the cooking while the wife showers then i shower while she finishes and plates, its a great system , but nnever bothered to have it before again due to being fat and lazy.
