Spanx for men?
WELL I GO BY ME, but im down to the point where im wearing a size large shirt, but they have some rumples so to speak lol from loose skin and etc. I bought size large in these shirts and they are the exact right size to hol dme in. so basically if your wearing a xl but very comfortably, i.e. it hides things and could probably wear a size smaller shirt without the bulges. Well let me put this another way i wear some xl's because they look better due to things sticking out , moobs etc, but i fit into a large very well. so i bought the large in these shirts and they fit great for me. so id say whatever size you think you would fit into well if the skin was tighter etc. thats the size to go with. also lets face it at under 10 bucks, its worth taking a good guess as well.

Spanx for men?
Hi guys i dont normally do this. But i have bought three of these recently, two white and one black, and they are uber comfortable and very forgiving, they hold in the moobs better than any shirt ive worn, even the spanx isnt as good, and the loose skin control in the tummy area is amazingly good, and these are cheap. im not associated with them at ll. but i thought these of you on a budget might really love these, i know i do and for reference i buy them the same size as the shirt i should be wearing. so basically the same size as the shirt you would wear if your stuff was more tucked in. http://www.ebay.com/itm/391178063985?_trksid=p2060353.m1438.l2649&var=660508687176&ssPageName=STRK%3AMEBIDX%3AIT

Emergency Stash of Protein
be careful to all about Protein bars, many many brands have a large number of grams of sugar. remember 4 grams of sugar is a teaspoon of sygar so 12 grams of sugar is three whole teaspoons of sugar. many is teh time i have picked up a Protein Bar and looked at the label only to be shocked and put it right back down again.

What kitchen gear helped you through your WLS journey
yea those arent sugar free though and still require heavy whipping cream, i stay away from sugar completely, at some later date i will re-introduce a lesser amount of some sugars in my diet but in this easy way out to use the sugar free cool whip, it just works for me.

Sometimes its the unexpected things that get you
SO, On Monday, September 14th I will be going to Atlanta from Boston on business with a few colleagues. The funny thing is the last time I was in an airport was 16 years ago, me and my wife went to las vegas. It was hell walking around especially in the heat, and I always tried to dress well, but lets face it, when your a big/fat/overweight guy, looking hip or classy, is not easy on a budget. At that time, I wasn't as big as I was before my surgery but I was well over 300 pounds. The stares from people when I got on the plane were of them saying, oh please don't let this fat man sit next to me. Thankfully myself and my wife had two seats in an end row to ourselves. I always used to volunteer for the entry way seats because no one else would sit next to me except my wife. ( those are the seats that don't recline etc.) This last time I sat down and, uh oh, the seat belt wouldn't fit! At the time, I did not know about seat belt extenders and probably wouldn't have asked for one, even If I had known. So I just tucked the seatbelt under my arm and my belly, and made it look like it was attached. This Monday will be my first flight since then as I never wanted to fly since, expecting I would have to buy the dreaded extra seat. This will be a first for me in a couple of ways. Obviously being able to fit in an airline seat , with a seatbelt will be, a weird but great feeling. Inside I'll have a bit of a wistful moment when I click that belt on. Sometimes it's these things, I never thought about when I started my journey, that really make me happy.

Buying the wrong size?
oops ladies room, my bad.

Drains!
gosh this is just so true though, i have no way to pay for the surgery yet, but my biggest fear with a TT surgery is the drains. Heck i was a paramedic for 11 years , but then again i freak out when getting an IV, although putting one in someone else is a piece of cake. lol irrational fears are soooo un fun. lol

Top 10 Signs of Junk Science
i made 12 million dollars working at home, on google and through this website, last month alone... Ha Ha I really despise those people. I got called last night by one of those windows service centers for your computer, i wont mention the country of origin because people think I am racist if i mention a foreign country, but anyway. I unfortunately was not in a good mood, was trying to rush out to he gym it was 96 degrees, i had just come home from work, i was washing a frying pan and dropped it and had to wipe up soapy Water on the floor etc, and got that call, and I just exploded at the guy, lol truthfully though i did feel better after. I do love to mess with telemarketers, like the last idiot that called about solar panels, i told him " im sorry sir, but on my planet, we dont have a sun, just ambient cosmic radiation." i was met with stunned silence. I love window salesmen, to them i usually say, I have no windows in my home, i bricked them all up to keep out the zombies. That usually gets a chuckle.

So....how much weight have you lost?!
to each his own. But remember it is called weight loss surgery for a reason. Its not called body change or clothes dont fit surgery. Im proud of what I have accomplished, if someone really wants to know. I tell them. I dont let others judge me, thats my job.

Below Drivers License weight!
yep, i am going on Friday to the RMV to get a new license, mine doesn't expire for two years yet, but i look nothing like my picture and I have to fly to Atlanta on Monday for business for four days and it had been brought to my attention that TSA will give me a hard time over my current license. So it was either get a new license ,50 bucks, or get my passport made, and time constraints made the passport option not feasible.

I HATE exercising! What Should I do?!
I go to the gym 6 days a week now. For me its a bit of a novelty, being overweight or fat or whatever pretty much all my life, this is still like being a newborn to me. The company is work for is full of very fit people. out of 30 employees we have 4 triathletes, 5 regular survival run type people, and 6 marathoners. I was pretty much the lone fat person in the company. My co-workers would say things like, " oh when you start going to the gym, you will become addicted to it!" or " oh you'll be unhappy on days you dont go." .... NOT!!, lol I still dont love going. but i have found its necessary to keep focused, to make that commitment to myself and keep it. Now I am lucky my wife goes to the gym with me 4 times a week and we do all cardio for now. Soon to really join in the circuit training as well. But i found riding a stationary bike while i watch movies on my tablet is just ideal. I can do 12 to 15 miles at a very good pace while watching a movie and i don't pass out and die afterward. Every other day i hit the treadmill and do about 2 or so miles at a 4, incline at a very brisk pace. But under no circumstances do i love it, nor am I addicted to it lol. But i do love the result. And im watching a lot of movies. My suggestion is dont overdo it, dont dive in to the cardio full bore, take two weeks and maybe you do 3 mile son the bike at a easy pace. then slowly each week add a mile or the like until youve lost a good amount and feel more comfortable. Do not just jump in and run yourself ragged on the elliptical or stepper or whatever and barely make it out alive, this is negative reinforcement and just makes you dread the gym or working out even more. I recommend Planet Fitness if there is one close by. If you do use a gym, make sure it is close enough that its not a big production for you to go. My gym is literally 1 mile from my home, and that's a big motivator for going. I have another planet fitness that is like 4 miles from home and that just seems to far for me and gives me an easy reason not to go. Do what is necessary to make it easy for yourself to succeed, or at least as easy as you can make it.

Recommended level of carbs in the diet - research
Everyone's journey is different is not just a common theme, it is the truth. lol I do know the dangers of ultra low carb eating. You have to be aware of how glycogen is used in the brain, and how you can use high Protein intake to run the brain rather than glucose. Also you have o be very diligent with Vitamins. Which I am, also being on top of bloodwork is important. The issues that are mentioned with low carb eating is the assumption that you go high fat low carb, which is not what i do at all. i do no sugar, ultra low carb, so you dont run the same risk of lipid increases etc. I eat things like turkey bacon, no its not bacon, but its good. And probably 99% of my meals are chicken or turkey, very lean cuts ( i tend to trim it myself) usually with spices and i do get some carbs usually from basmati or brown rice. about two tablespoonfuls with my dinner. I do get a little fat from sugar-free pudding, but I get a ton of vitamins and minerals from my Multivitamins, my Iron supplements, and my Protein shakes. Sometimes I do go as high as 30 carbs, for example last night i had some beautiful halibut, and i breaded it a bit, my estimate is about 12 to 18 carbs . Also I do occasionally get some carbs from nice fresh corn, or some carrots. For me hitting this low of a carb daily intake has helped me avoid the truly epic major stalls. Now in truth my weight loss did slow from the proverbial 20 to 30 pounds a month to the mundane 5 to 8 pounds a month. But at this point, it is to be expected. My body changes are still occurring and are dramatic so I am happy with it. and with 23 pounds to go to my goal, I'm well on my way . The most important thing I tell people, is to do what works for you. There are people's eating habits I don't agree with, and I'm damn sure some people don't agree with mine, but as long as you can be healthy, and you are achieving your weight loss goals, I'm all for what anyone is doing. In my eyes, carbs =sugar, sugar= bad , but that may not work for you. Find what works for you, and run with it.

Recommended level of carbs in the diet - research
my nutritionist, is a triathlon trainer, and as such is on my page of little to no carbs during the losing phase, after that , you increase carbs to whatever you can to offset workouts etc. so you take in what you put out, kind of thing. as such im 9+ months post surg, and i take in about 10 to 15 carbs a day, 30 on a max carb workout day. and thse high carb days are rare for me. I do this because it works. im not good at moderation. i have 2 teaspoon, fulls of basmati rice with my chicken usually 4 days a week, i started that at the 6 month mark. I find that carbs derail my weight loss faster than even sugars right now although i shun those as well. i go ultra low carb because it works for me, After the losing phase i will increase first to 30 carbs then probably upwards of 50 but i doubt ill ever get higher than that. Unless i take up distance running ( yeah right ha ha)

Purging Post Op
Its understandable to start down the eating disorder road after having to switch drastically to this new lifestyle. Heres the thing, you CANNOT continue on the road you are on and hope to succeed. You mentioned a counselor. Have you told them about this. or do you downplay it or not mention it? It is somewhat easier to mention online because we have anonymity to a degree, we dont have to face the yes of anyone else. My advice and please understand it is only advice. Is to please be very upfront with your counselor. Now i will admit, that at first when i had some issues with my sleeve and threw up. I had those easy thoughts of, hey if i throw-up this is like eating, i get the act of chewing the swallowing and all that but i dont get " charged" with the calories and sugars etc. It is a very tempting path to go down. But you simply cannot do it. There is no magic bullet, no special way to get over it. I can say that it is within you to be a success at this, I truly beleive that you will.

Call your insurance company or surgeons office ( or both) and ask if you can contact a different psych worker. I literally had hundreds to choose from.

Sphincter of Oddi Dysfunction
tramadol is good, in the hospital the iv nurse gave me a wonderful piece of advice, " ask for IV tylenol." Sounds simple right? but the stuff is expensive. But my insurance covered it so who cares . But it worked so well in conjunction with tramadol. after the first 12 hours the v tylenol was all i needed and then 24 hours i was home and no pain meds. So remember that , trust me it really really helped.

New Taste test Syntrax Naturals Chocolate
Okay hi all, so Syntrax was generous enough to send me some samples of the New Naturals line of Protein shakes. My first taste test was the Natural chocolate. Now the Naturals line has no artificial sweeteners or products and uses stevia and monk fruit to sweeten the product. Zero Sugar, Zero Fat Lactose and gluten free. 90 calories in a full scoop. It mixes extremely well, no blender required its a very very fine powder, not at all grainy. Taste wise, it is one of the most mild flavors ive ever had. It does not have that artificial sweetener taste at the end either. Its a very mild flavor. Did i say that enough? literally if you like strong chocolate flavor this isnt it. But if you need that natural part of things, and have a hard time with that sweet aftertaste, this is most certainly for you. I would highly recommend this as a stand alone mix. Its not strong enough for mix-ins as anything you added would just overpower this flavor. PB2 just overpowered it. But on its own, it was very nice and a really easy drink. I give it 9.5 out of 10 stars. 10 is reserved for an OMG absolute must-haves, and this is a great product for sure. I will have reviews of the orange, peach and strawberry creme soon. Enjoy!

Protein Chips
they are expensive and when i tried 2 different flavors , both times i thought the bag they came in tasted better than the chips...If you need chips i'd recommend the edamame chips from trader joes, or the Maya Kaimal chickpea chips, especially the sea salt ones, oh my are they good, and with some fresh salsa, can be good for you as well and fill that snack urge. But chips are also my big weakness, i have developed an addiction to bbq flavored pork rinds. They go amazingly well with hummus.

Sphincter of Oddi Dysfunction
look into medical marijuana, i used to be adamantly against it, but i had shoulder surgery, and i hate pain meds, a friend brought me over a vapor pen, and i tried a little and it was like night and day. no munchies, no coughing, none of that just the mice pain relief post surgery. Now i of course did it illegally, but perhaps you do not have to, or could, none of anyones business there. but it may just work wonderfully for you.

Dating after surgery
From the male perspective id say this. Just say your trying to eat healthy and order some veg or a salad etc. Its not a lie, and it gives you endless cover stories until such time as you wish to open up more to that person.
