Thanks for the heads up! I'm only one week out, but I can watch for signs of that stall and be proactive in the upcoming weeks.

Oh my goodness! That's a lot to go through! Glad you're on to brighter days now. And you're right, as the swelling decreases so will the #s on the scale. Keep up the positive attitude! One day at a time, one pound at a time, we'll make it

@@elturner ... I had my surgery 16 days ago. I lost 12 lbs in a week, then gained 2. In the past 9 days I would lose those two pounds, gain those two pounds and stall on many days.... I felt like it was just like every other diet I was on .. I was not going to lose, that I failed this surgery. But honestly, our bodies are adjusting. I know you don't want to hear that, and I didn't want to hear that, but it's the truth!.
So what is getting me through it? Look at the success board, or look at the veterans boards. Look how much weight everyone has lost. They have all gone through stalls and made it through. This is part of the process and we just have to go through it Just hang in there.. and don't get depressed.. because everyone has made it through and so will you !!!!

Omg the dog food smells so good! (One week what? Post OP!) went to one week post op and only lost one pound since surgery but I'm not too concerned since I had some problems after surgery with swelling and then the medicine they used to reduce the swelling caused my potassium to be nonexistent which caused symptoms that mimic blood clots..which led to some extra time in the hospital. Anyway, on a really much brighter note, apparently I had a huge hernia and by just repairing that I have so much more energy and can breathe so much better. Without sleeve surgery would any dr have picked it up? Loving my sleeve. Week 1. Ps my fears about going under did not include apparently my need to tell the anesthiologist how much I loved him, repeatedly over and over until I passed out. Lol pa I love you guys too for being so suportive! Xo

Can't remember who asked about the yogurt, but I add a tiny bit of honey, a little less than a teaspoon and I eat the 0% fat Fage total and I love it.
For those who are 3 weeks out, hitting their stall and feeling exhausted, that's your body adjusting to the lack of calories and going into starvation mode. Mind over matter. You have to force yourself out of bed, exercise, get your heart rate up and then your body will realize it HAS to burn fat in order to keep up with what you want it to do and you'll get out of your funk faster. Good luck!

Hi kathy812! You know I didn't even think about that. That's a good idea. Thank goodness I get the A-OK on Saturday, so I can try something at home. For some weird reason I have been craving a Portobello mushroom pizza. I am not even a big fan of pizza - have to be in the mood. I will wait to make these of course, but that's what I really want. Oh, and refried Beans, but all I keep thinking is "oh boy" extra gas!! When I came home from surgery, at night I sounded like a Saving Private Ryan sequel. Probably TMI, but I just couldn't help it. I think my sleeve is settling down some, so I am a little nervous of giving it more Amo - haha pun intended!
    How is your sleeve doing?

Hi all - just got back from my 2 week follow up and NUT visit. Surgeon said the side pain was probably from them pulling my stomach out - they split the muscles and some times there is some tearing. They were't concerned about it. I get to advance my diet! YAY!!!! Mashed potatoes, refried Beans, eggs, crispy crackers, etc. NUT said to try different things for about a week and then can try meats if those are tolerated OK. If meats are OK then I can start to transition to regular foods in about a week. She said that the things that are typically least tolerated are eggs for some reason and then breads. She said crispy crackers or things that are crispy so they break apart when you eat them instead of sitting like a lump in your stomach.
Making the family tacos for dinner tonight and I'm having refried Beans. SOOOOOOOO EXCITED!!!

I just posted on our other page also. (We have too many pages! lol) Had my follow up today and the surgeon wasn't concerned about the side pain. Said the muscles were split, may have had some tearing when stomach was pulled out and if it's not constant pain, they weren't really worried! Thanks for the reply!!!

For thanksgiving... Enjoy your friends and family. They will inhale a plate of food in 20 minutes while we can take our time with ours and enjoy it just as much ! And we don't have to make ourselves sick. Maybe focus on decorating for Christmas, or watch football, or just talking about something different.
    We got this !!

I felt the same way you did - weak, unable to consume any real amount of food, strained. I hadn't had a bm since prior to surgery which had been about a week. I called my NP and she said to take some milk of magnesia. I think I was so backed up that nothing was going anywhere and my sleeve wasn't able to properly empty. I will say the day after I took the MOM, I felt A LOT better. I was able to drink 20oz of water by noon, where simply drinking before was a challenge for me and left me feeling stuffed.

The MOM certainly helps. I have also heard that the Plum Smart light works wonders. I will try it tonight and let you know.

@@D.Lo please try not to stress/depress over food/family/friends....and the perceived "fun". You can still enjoy all - just differently and healthier. Focus on the fellowship rather than the food. That's easier said that done at this time, but it will get better. This whole surgery is/was about you getting and staying well/healthy/happy. Please try not to allow yourself to be confused that life ends with the surgery. Its just the beginning.
Get counseling if you can. If you can't - keep writing to us who have and are in counseling. I'm sure we would be happy to share what we've learned. There are also lots of Bariatric reading materials that will get you through the stress/depression stage.

Thanks for making the post op forum for we October folks. Good to read everyone's experiences. I am 15 days post op and started pureed foods yesterday. dinner didn't go well but I was able to eat half a scrambled egg with small amount of cheese for Breakfast. Thing is, I was full the rest of the day. Yesterday, was actually my first "bad" day since surgery. I started working again at home and doing chores. I was busy all day and so I couldn't just watch the clock and make sure I was drinking Water all day. Needless to say between the exercise I did in the morning and not drinking as much water I was very dehydrated and feeling it by 3:00pm. I got really frustrated because I felt trapped. I want my life back but it seems like I can't take care of my nutrition and work at the same time. Fortunately, I work at home. If I was in an office or something I have no idea what I would do. Every day we get to start over and so I have a good outlook today. I set an alarm on my phone to go off every 15 minutes just to remind me to drink. My stats: hw 272,sw 267,cw 249. Sleeved 10/13.

Had my surgery 10/21. One week out and I am on full liquids. So far only a Protein Drink, two tablespoons of chicken broth and Water today. Will try Soup later. Feeling weak but assume it us from so few calories. I have lost 10 pounds since surgery. I haven't had a bm in over a week. A little nervous about that. My pain was good until I passed some gas yesterday kind of straining. Now it feels pulled and hurting again. Scared I had popped a staple at first, but surely it would take more than that. Looking forward to more food choices.

Great job on the weight loss so far! I'm not close to meeting my water and protein intake winter - definitely easier said than done lol. I don't use a surgical binder at all. When I wear an older snug tank top or something for some support, I end up getting a puffy and cramped feeling in my stomach.

Hey everyone! I just wanted to keep in touch with everyone on the postop boards now that most of us are done and in a few more days the remainder of us October sleevers will be done as well.
How is everyone doing? Feel free to share any problems, suggestions, recipes that helped you get your Protein in, and any other advice you'd like to share. Ask questions, if you have them. Use this thread as you see fit, but mostly to keep in touch with everyone.
I know quite a few people went to the Facebook page. I know it's private, but I've seen cases where private information was temporarily made public on Facebook by Facebook glitches/viruses/hacks. I know there is no intention of it going public but I rather not take the risk.
So I hope to hear from you all soon!!
    Best wishes and good luck!
