  1. I have been doing pretty good post op ... Not feeling too hungry and steadily losing weight. I have nothing in my band. My question is if I am progressing nicely will the nurse practitioner tell me I don't need a fill. I would prefer to wait as long as possible to avoid stuck episodes etc. but is this wise or even feasible? Has anyone had success without fills or very few fills?
  2. Amponder Congrats. Hope you have a smooth recovery.
  3. Find out from your insurance company if there are certain hospitals you need to use like a Center of Excellence and go to a seminar. No use wasting your time with a surgeon that your insurance will not pay for
  4. I always had this question. Conventional wisdom says not to eat so few calories or you won't lose weight. So why do people with WLS lose weight on less than 1000 calories? I have MFP set to 1000 calories and except for yesterday, have not gone above that threshold and I'm losing weight consistently. I did ask my surgeon about this months ago but can't remember his answer.
  5. How is everyone just thinking about Thanksgiving coming up? I'm not cooking (yeah) but I'm hoping to have a good day. I already started to plan what I'm going to eat. My sister asked me what I could eat and I said EVERYTHING. I'm about 3 weeks out from surgery and have no fills yet. The one thing I have to watch is stuffing. Dangerous for me!!
  6. Good for you for sticking with it and getting a new surgeon
  7. Mine took about 2 weeks tongi away and at the end of those 2 weeks it was the worst. Then poof! It was gone the next day. I walked and walked and still got it. In fact almost 3 weeks out ingot some shoulder pain while driving today.
  8. I gained 3lbs also post op but it was gone in 3 days.
  9. Sorry about your dog! That is devastating. Wow you are doing some good eating. Keep up all that protein!
  10. I look forward to this. I am so sick of being sweaty when it's 15 out and I'm coming out of the subway all sweaty. Forget about the summer!!!!
  11. Right now that amount was enough to satisfy me. But im sure that any restriction I feel is from swelling. I'm only a little over 2 weeks out
  12. A friend from work wanted to go eat pizza for lunch. I know, seriously? So obv I could not eat that. But I thought about it and said I will find something to eat there...and I did! A meatball hero parmigiana, hold the bread. I asked for it it be given to me in a to go plate and ate 1.5 meatballs slowly and enjoyed it thoroughly. I packed up the rest and will be eating it tomorrow for lunch.
  13. The dude How are you doing now???
  14. Weight watchers? Why do insurance companies ask these questions? It's really so stupid. As if you would gain all this weight and never once try to diet and then say Let me have surgery!!!
  15. 2 weeks before my pre op diet began I ate myself sick. I would make nachos every night for a week and drink a bottle of wine myself. By the time I was doing the pre op I was completely sick of eating.
  16. Go walking GET IT GIRL!!!!
  17. Keeper First night I was in the hospital so wait a little while more and you should feel better. Keep us updated
  18. I hear the hernia repair can make the recovery a little longer. Hang in there. Good thing you have a babysitter. I did the same thing. Kids didn't even notice! Can you get an ice pop or freeze some protein shakes?
  19. Meatloaf muffins. Just made them tonight. About 10 g of protein each. I like that they are portion controlled. I need that
  20. Mine is empty as well. The resident originally told me there would be 2ccs but found out it's empty. I feel satisfied after a half cup but probably from post op swelling. First fill 12/3
  21. I was just banded at NYU by Fielding on 11/4 so would love to be your buddy. Private message me! Also I'm on My Fitness Pal as briefs99
