By that I mean are you guys following any programs while having the band. This week when I weighed in I have gained back 4 pounds. Which is weird I thought that I was doing good. My mom said I am looking thinner but I would think if I was looking thinner it would be less swelling but shouldn't that have been gone by now? I don't know but I was wondering if anyone could suggest a program to stay on while working with the band. I am one of those people that to be told you can only eat these things and these times. I don't like having choices in food because I will go for what ever tastes best and usually that has the most calories. So if anyone could suggest something. By the way my mom did the NutriSystem and I tried the food and didn't like it at all. Oh and since I am starting Senior High this year I don't want to bring my lunch to school so what would you suggest in helping with choosing the best school lunch? Thanks guys

I know that I shouldn't be basing my results on other peoples results but after two weeks and only being down 8, I feel like I am failing. It sounds silly but I don't feel like a winner. Every time I get on the scale it doesn't seem like it is moving. I read people saying "I am down 27 pounds and I am three weeks out", and I get sooo discouraged. I exercise everyday, like I always do but nothing is helping. I know my standards are not what they should be but I thought I would be down more than this by now. I can start eating Friday and I am scared I will gain everything back when I start eating food food. Grrrr I hate this. Plus I am all emotional today. Got my haircut and wanted to cry because I hated it and it makes me look like an old lady, my mom bought me a new bedspread wanted to scream because I didn't like it, and then I had to clean my room because my nana is coming tomorrow and she gets my room and I get the living room couch. And to top it off my new bedspread, my mom took me to get a different one, isn't allowed to go on my bed until I get out of bed tomorrow, so I don't even get to be the first person to sleep with it and always like that. GRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR!!! Sorry I just had to vent thanks for listening!

I am so hungry and it isn't mental. I am really super hungry. Liquids aren't doing anything. What did you guys do? Tomorrow I start thicker liquids but I am hungry now. Please help!

Hey everyone! Just got back this morning. Off topic but it is hotter here then it was in Tiajuana! I had fun and met some wonderful people. I am in no pain and I never have been in any. My surgery took 15 minutes! The doctor came out and was telling my mom how healthy I was. I guess he said I have SOOO much muscles in my stomach he couldn't believe it. He also said that if you just took my liver and looked at it, you would have never known that it belonged to an overweight person! Well just wanted to let everyone know I was back and I was doing good. Kylie

Hey everyone, Just wanted to say thanks for all the help for the preop stuff. Can't wait til I get back so you can help me with the postop stuff! Thanks so much for your help. I won't be back on until the third when we get home. Yeah, we are going a few days early and staying a few days late. Can't wait but I am also nervous, but its natural. Everyone is nervous and if they tell you different they are either lieing or are CRAZY! But I would have to say I think my mom is more nervous then I am! Brittany, I will be in Tiajuana from the 26th of July until the 3rd of August. My mom just wanted to make sure I would be alright before making our trip back across the country and then having to turn around if something went wrong. Hi my name is Chris and I am the proud mom of justbeingme aka Kylie. I just wanted to thank all of you for the wonderful support you have given my daughter. She is truly a pleasure to have as a child. She is my baby of 4 children and excells at everything she does. Kylie is an awesome basketball player, terrific friend, outstanding student and would do anything for anyone. This surgery means so much to her because basketball is her life and now she feels she will become even better. Yes I am sure thoughts of thiness through out the next 4 years of high school will not hurt but her true passion is to have that speed on the basketball court that loosing weight will bring her. My date is the 29th and I am excited and can't wait. I really wish that I had an earlier date. I can't wait.

In my case, I have to go out of the country because the fact I am too young to have it done in America, and Dr. Ortiz has come highly reccomended to us. Also, obesity may be considered a health condition, but I am not 18 so they will not cover me.

Oh my that is a good idea! They should have that and give it to all lapband patients. Good idea

I am going to Mexico because I am self pay....AND....I am to young to have it done in the US. So it is more than one reason

The list of people I have told and are going to tell is very small. I have told my sister, my mom (of course she has to know she is going with me...haha), my dad, and my mom's friend who had gastric bypass, Wendy. Wendy is a good friend of the family and she only knows because my mom wanted to talk to her about the surgery and what she thoght about it. She said that if it would have been available to her, she would have had weight loss surgery a lot sooner than she did. She weighed atleast 300 lbs but like me she is tall, I am 5'10" and she is 5'9", and she carries her weight well. But I don't think I will tell people I may tell my best friend years from now. But I don't really know.

I don't know her and she doesn't know me because I am new. But still send her my best wishes. Jeez Penni you are a great person and a great friend from what I have read about you!

Congrats! I am also being banded on the 29th but I am being banded in Mexico. It is a long trip but we are self pay because I am not 18 or over. But Dr. Ortiz is supposed to be very very good! Good luck!

Thanks for the input! I told my sister yesterday and she is all for it. She says anything that makes me healthier is a good idea. I was so surprised i got the exact opposite reaction than I was expecting!! Well again thanks!

After talking to Dr. Ortiz, we have decided together to go through with the surgery. My date is July 29. Thanks for all the support and I will keep you all posted!

wow thanks for the input I have four questions that I would like to ask him and they are all about getting back to basketball!! Haha....well anyways...thanks and if anyone else can add there two cents, it would help!

The doctor who I want to do my surgery is calling tonight. He told me to have any questions that I want to ask ready. I can't think of anything thanks to all of your help from here. Can any of you that have talked to the doctor like this tell me some of the questions that you asked?? Thanks in advance!
