First, ALWAYS be drinking something. Always have something ready to go. Drink broth, then start juice, then a Protein shake, then more juice, then tea. NEVER STOP drinking. You have to stay ahead of the hunger.

And for me...a lifesaver...Cream of potato Soup, extra milk added to make it super thin, blended. For some reason that stuck with me longer.

Also try changing up your flavors. If you drink only sweet stuff, get some chicken broth in to keep it interesting. Add some season salt to the broth. Keep it more interesting.

Most of all..STAY STRONG!! You WILL get through this.

The ONLY thing that satsifed me was a McDonalds shake. I limited myself to 1 a day.

Also, trying different textures of foods: popsicles, broth, thicker Soups may help.

Remember, this is only temporary! You CAN do this.

I'm supposed to be on liquids too and I'm also starving. When I really want something - I've just taken a small piece (hamburger or whatever) and chewed the taste out of it then spit it out. But last night I actually did eat a little - a couple small bites of refried beans and a couple of papitos with cheesy sauce. I freaked out after I did it though - but I was okay. I'm gona try not to do it again, but I guess until I get a fill I'll still be hungry too.

Dr. Ortiz says to have some metamusil to curb hunger. You get to start on thicker drinks now, like protein shakes, right? And yogurt too! I was just there for surgery on the 5th, just got home today. I'm getting pretty hungry now too. The first 2 days were easy because my stomach felt restricted.

Good luck!

It will be 3 weeks this Thursday, I started thicker liquids at 2 weeks. I, too am hungry more often than I thought that I would be. In the morning seems to be the worst. I drink a protein shake & eat a small container of applesauce, but that don't seem to stay with me very long. I am ready for lunch way before I should be. Unfortunately, I am not very creative when it comes to food, so I am having a bit of a problem figuring out different things to eat at this stage of the game. I hope the next week & a half go by fast. Then I will get to start adding some solids. Hopefully that will make a difference in the hunger. If anyone has any suggestions, please throw them this way.

A bandster gave me this recipe and it was a life saver for me!!Basicaly its the cabbage soup from the "cabbage soup diet" A sm cabbage, chicken broth, carrots, zucchini, summer squash, onion, garlic,a little black pepper or any seasoning you prefer and a can of stewed tomatoes....simmer till veggys are tender...and then puree...make it thick so it sustains you...low calorie...cabbage is a diuretic....and it's soothing...Keep on hand at all times...I'm 3 1/2 weeks banded and I have it several times a day and it helps but I started this 10 days post op cause I thought I was going to LOSE MY MIND!!!Hope it helps you.....Cindy
