How to heat protein powder?
@@juliedishman I'd say you are doing really good. I don't know if this is the right answer for you, but at that stage I focused on Water, Vitamins, and Protein - in that order. I don't know if I was actually getting 4 oz at each meal although the broth did go down like water. I just focused on getting in more and more protein each day. I never added protein to my soups. I just drank Protein shakes. It starts to get much easier to get the required protein and water in each day. Best of luck!

After surgery daily schedule for meds, vitamins, protein and liquids
I was told the same thing regarding the multi. We cannot absorb everything at once, kind of the same reason we have to space out the calcium. I do take the multi, b12 and Vitamin d all together and I was told that was fine.

After surgery daily schedule for meds, vitamins, protein and liquids
I take my multi, b12 and Vitamin d when I'm walking out the door. I then set a reminder on my phone (voice reminder S voice with Samsung Galaxy 5) to take calcium 2.5 hours later. I'll then set another reminder for 2nd dose and 3rd dose. I take my 2nd multi vitamin with dinner then Iron before bed. This has been my vitamin routine. Usually I get them in. The S voice reminders really help!

How to heat protein powder?
I make a Protein coffee each day. What I do is mix my protein with about 2 oz. of soy milk in my Ninja, usually the night before to use the next morning. I do this so it will settle and not be foamy. In the morning I brew a cup of coffee in my Keurig and add the protein mix. It blends great! Yes, the mix is a bit cold but not too bad the coffee is still hot.

July RNY Page
I had RNY on 7/15/14. So far so good! I try to focus on my Water, Vitamins, and Protein in that order. It's hard to get everything in! Recently, I joined a gym and started working out like crazy. I'm finding I need to increase my food and protein intake, but it is really hard! Best of luck to the next 4 months everyone!

Protein
The choices are endless with the Protein powder. Add to coffee, pudding. shake, etc. I haven't tried unjury yet. I just stick to a whey isolate protein mix, most are about the same as far as calories, fat, protein, carbs, and sugar. Perhaps you make have cut down on your protein or Water intake?

Weight tracking using My Fitness Pal
I have been using fitbit to track my food and exercise but now I just went back to MFP (today actually) since I can scan bar codes and sync with fit bit. I customized my goals to 1000 calories per day - 15 % carbs 50% Protein 35% fat. My active lever is set to: very active. When I enter my exercise I am almost at net zero calories for the day. I do think I need to increase my intake so I added an afternoon Protein shake. Even with the shake I still will usually only average about 1000 calories per day. Maybe I just wont track my exercise. I know I'm exercising and my fitbit is still tracking my steps

Would you have WLS again? What kind?
Definitely yes! Only I wouldn't of waited until I was 46, I would of had the same surgery much sooner!

Is it better to eat your protein or drink your protein?
@@ziggypbang Thank you so much! I try to get a few ounces of lean meat at each meal and a little Greek yogurt or a Protein pudding and that gets me what I need. Adding the shake has helped post workouts.

My Journey
Junk-a-tarian! I like that word. That would of described my diet to a T. Veggies pizza and veggie burritos don't exactly scream healthy. Just because I wasn't eating meat didn't mean I was eating healthy. Vegan - I tried it for about a month back in the day but it was just too hard for me.

Is it better to eat your protein or drink your protein?
I am 4 months post RNY surgery and had a question regarding Protein intake. At this stage and beyond, is it alright to get about half of my daily protein from shakes or should it all be coming from just food? Also do the Protein Shakes move through the pouch faster causing us to become hungry quicker? I have really tried to get all of the protein from just food but recently increased my protein after I started working out about 5 days a week. The extra protein is coming from a shake.

My Journey
Wow! Our stories are really similar and I can totally relate. I also wish I would of had my surgery sooner. So far, it has been the best decision I have made. I was a vegetarian in my 30's and early 40's but transitioned back into eating meat and fish. Now, since surgery, I no longer eat red meat and will probably go back to vegetarianism once I plateau. One meat at a time! Best of luck!

What kind of diet are you on?
I am 4 months post RNY. Not so much a diet, but a lifestyle change. I do similar to South Beach I guess. Very high Protein and low carb. I probably average around 80-100 grams of protein per day and about 20 grams of carbs.

Dying hair?
I dyed my hair and left my fingernail polish on except for one fingernail. It is hard to get the pulse oximeter reading with polish on the finger. I also had to take my contacts out. Best of luck with your surgery! Very exciting!!!

hands freezing
I have always had cold hands and that did not change after surgery. I was told it had to do with my iron counts always being a tad bit low. Hopefully this will change after surgery since I upped my iron count. Who knows.
