  1. I had a post that was somewhat similar to this the other day. Like @@BLERDgirl , I try to only weigh myself at the doctor's office. I figured that is where I had my "official" weigh in and that is the scale that I use. I try to pop in once every 3 weeks or so to weigh in. This past week I actually weighed in 3 times within 24 hours on 3 different scales and the weight difference between 2 scales was 9 lbs. This is why I only use one scale.
  2. I am only 4 months post-op RNY but recently started working out with a trainer. I gave him all of my information and went over examples of my diet. Honestly, I don't think I take in enough calories now (probably under 1000 a day) but I just am not that hungry. I stick to 3 meals a day with no Snacks. My trainer said I need to up my calories a bit so I started drinking a Protein shake around 6:30 when I leave for work then have Breakfast around 8:30. It has helped me increase my protein by al lot. I'm shooting for working out 5 days a week. So far so good, I haven't been dragging at all! Congrats on all of your success and thank you for posting!
  3. I'm from a big Italian family so our Christmas tradition is to have a big Italian banquet of food. You name it, we have it- lasagna, sausages, prosciutto, arancini, mozzarella, pecorino, artichokes, etc. Probably enough to feed a small army. I'm not really dreading it this year to be honest. I'll bring something that I know I can eat without any problems while still being able to keep my Italian card!
  4. Excellent job! I'm right there with you. I have about 6 lbs. to go to hit the century mark! Thanks for sharing! Inspiring!!!
  5. Thanks for sharing! I need to try this in the near future.
  6. @@bellabloom Awe, thank you so much! It's been a good 3 months! Here's to the next 3!!!
  7. @@finediva I started drinking Protein coffee (decaf for me) and love it!
  8. @@Quest4TheNewMe For me the gas pain was much worse than the pain from surgery. Here's hoping you have a speedy recovery!!!
  9. I started making Protein pudding sugar-free instant pudding mixed with 1 3/4 cup soy milk or 2 cups of milk. Mix and let it harden a bit then add 2 scoops of your favorite Protein powder. I usually divide this into 6 serving and eat a serving for Breakfast but could easily be a protein snack!
  10. @@Miss Mac I'm gonna try this sometime soon. Thanks for posting!
  11. @@Quest4TheNewMe Excellent news! Walking helps A LOT! I remember getting up almost every 2 hours during my hospital stay and walking. Can't wait to read about your journey!
  12. I only told my family and just a few close friends that I was having bypass prior to surgery. Once the surgery was over I pretty much shared with everyone that comments on my weight loss. I want to be completely up front with everyone. I'm not ashamed nor embarrassed that I had the surgery. I know over the last 4 months I have worked really hard and am so proud of my lifestyle change. Everyone is really supportive!
  13. I'm 4 months post-op RNY and have found lots of inspiring members that keep posting after 1year, 2 years, and 3 years. The stories are really inspiring and I know that I value everyone that continues to post now and will definitely be referring back to all of the posts when I am further along. Best of luck with your journey!
  14. @@Baconville I just ran across this post and your weight loss is truly inspiring. Congrats on being a 5 percenter!! I hope to one day have results that are similar to yours! p.s. love my fitbit!
  15. Great topic and excellent feedback. I need to save this for when I am a veteran! All of the replies are truly inspiring!
  16. Thank you so much for sharing! It's really inspiring for all of us that are newbies to get such great advice from veterans like you! Keep sharing!!
  17. Thanks! @@proudgrammy I just find it really strange that there is that big of a margin in scales. Probably done to make us crazy!! I'll stick with rarely weighing myself and go by how my clothes fit.
  18. Not so much of a NSV for today, but one in general - I no longer get headaches. I used to get them pretty frequently but I can honestly say that I haven't had a headache of any sort for over 4 months! Maybe it is giving up caffeine or eating better, I don't know which, I just know I am headache free!
  19. Until I got to be about 6-7 weeks post op I ate bananas with a little Peanut Butter and some pineapple that I blended in my Ninja. I didn't worry too much about the carb count then I just wanted to eat a fruit that I could tolerate and keep down. I stopped the pineapple because I found it too sweet. Now 4 months post op, I do watch my carbs pretty closely and have switched to just eating berries as my fruit. Strawberries, blackberries, raspberries, etc. I try to have a few berries at Breakfast and lunch. Eventually I'll start incorporating more fruits into my diet. Right or wrong, this is what I do. Best of luck!
  20. I also have a hard time figuring out the amount of food at each meal. I've pretty much settled on about 4 oz. or so (sometimes less) per meal and I eat 3 meals per day and no snack. Although, since rejoining a gym this week I started to take in a bit more Protein in the morning by adding a scoop to a cup of decaf coffee around 6:30 then I have a protein Breakfast around 8:30-9. As far as lunch and dinner I usually weigh out about 2.5-3 oz. of lean meat then eat another ounce of veggies and berries combined. This has been my regimen for the past 4 months. Right or wrong, it's worked pretty good for me so far so I plan on sticking to it for a few more months. Best of luck!
