Thank you Elode. I haven't taken measurements because I didn't want to know. I also have no pictures so sometimes I feel like I am flying by the seat of my pants. I wear scrubs daily so it is really hard to tell about how my clothes fit too. I can't really see my weight loss with my eyes but I do know that I wore 3x at my HW and can now wear an xl with room to spare. I might have to do a little measuring to brighten by day.

We lost our magnificent, beautiful sweetheart doggie unexpectedly a month ago. I still can't talk about it.
    It's brutal.

My losses were great too. So much so that I've yet to recover enough to create new ones. I spent few years in Iraq and cared for many of the local cats. The established military law was to exterminate any animals on the installation. No matter how hard I tried I still lost 14 to this policy. Three babies were even born in my room so I could try to protect the mother and her babies. Eventually I did bring one home, Picks was his name. He was born blind and the only way to save him was to have him live in my room. I used SPCA International to help bring him home. Picks didn't only have blindness going against him though. He had a hole in his heart. He lived for nearly nine months, two of them in the United States and he meant everything to me.

Little over 5 months...mine depends on what I am eating...thin (soup not heavy with stuff) about 1/2 cup. Thicker or chunkyier closer to 1/4 cup. Solid (meat) about two ounces. As for ever eating normally... I hope I never do it again, cause my normal let me become 258+ pds. I go out and order usually off the appetizer menu.... Eat what I want slowly and talk a lot...then get a go box and your left overs will be about three meals and some to throw away. My biggest issue is throwing away food.... I learned it is ok to throw away food, I don't have to clean my plate thinking about some starving people. I Love my sleeve and the only regret is I did not have it done 10 years ago.

Some days I have more restriction than others but for the most part I can eat 1/4 - 1/2 cup of food. It also depends on what I'm eating. I can only eat one boiled egg. But I went out to eat with friends Thursday and was able to eat 90% of a salmon fillet and two bites of spinach. No one knew about my surgery or questioned why I didn't finish my food. This wasn't my first time eating out. Just eat slowly, talk a lot and take a doggie bag if you can't finish. I have no regrets!

@@old_rn You should! I know about those scrubs I wear them too! Thank goodness for the draw String ones! I'm considering taking a nursing contract and I haven't put my scrubs on in forever! This should be fun...I will just buy some at my local goodwill If I need any from this point on, they are just too expensive to upgrade constantly!

OMG I was just telling my mom how upset I was with this woman after watching her episode. I mean her and her husband were just delusional and made up excuse after excuse. The scale doesn't lie every month. If you are doing what you need to do you will lose eventually and if you are 600+ you will definitely lose weight if you stick to the program. I love that show but her episode made me want to find her and slap her. Lol I mean I don't think I'm the perfect wls patient but I do work my butt off to be better than the person I was yesterday.

I wish I had taken my measurements at the start. But I was so deep in denial that I didn't really want to know. (Also, I didn't have a long enough tape measure.)

old_rn reacted to Babbs in Curious -- could you have done it without Weight Loss Surgery?
Yes! I have lost weight without WLS. HUNDREDS OF TIMES! But did I keep it off? Of course not! I had this surgery not to lose weight, because I can lose weight like gangbusters, but to receive the amazing tool to help me learn to eat in moderation and make what I'm putting in my mouth count to be healthy. Although the weight loss is obviously icing on the cake (mmmmm cake), the ultimate goal is a complete lifestyle change I intend to maintain even after I hit my goal weight. And I know now with this tool, if I work it correctly, I can continue to maintain a healthy weight. I'm in it for the long haul!

old_rn got a reaction from Desi1977 in Why can't I just stop? (Eating until it hurts)
I had a problem with speed eating and getting overfull because my brain didn't get the message until too late. My RD told me about an app for my phone. It is called eat slower and you can set a timer for between bites. I found it very helpful and it reminded me to put my fork down between bites and to chew the food well. I also use children's plates and silverware. I don't seem to eat nearly as much or as fast. Still a struggle sometimes though. My sister who is 6yrs out does it all second nature. I am still waiting *sigh*

I agree that there are some things that aren't sunshine and roses. After 4mo I can finally drink plain Water. I still can't drink anything cold though. I never had a Protein amount and was told to not drink shakes or eat bars if I can avoid it. I found a bar I like and it comes in a couple of flavors so I keep those on hand when I don't have time to eat my "real" food. I still have head hunger. I try and make it stop by doing something else or drinking some of the never ending water. I don't know if or when I will be able to eat roast beef. It made me sick not once but twice and am smart enough to avoid it a third time. I have found that a lot of the food that I shouldn't eat I don't want to eat. bread, Pasta and Cereal were favorite foods but now I would rather be able to park at the far end of the parking lot and walk the distance than go back and have those foods and not be able to walk around the block. Plus without those foods I no longer have swelling in my legs and feet. I am a long way from my goal and I don't lose fast but I am slow and steady and lose at least 1lb every week. I can go up stairs and breathe when I get to the top, I can sit in a lawn chair and not spill out of it, no more cholesterol meds, no more cpap and no fibromyalgia pain that I can't tolerate on a daily basis. I would do the sleeve again a 100 times to feel this good
