I pay for my insurance entirely out of pocket since I am self employed and I went from Dr visit to surgery in 8 weeks. I just picked a plan that I knew that could happen with.
It has nothing to do with her being on government assistance and mostly with the fact your insurance sucks.

You can try the Protein powder w. Water. Maybe as a last resort. I find that kind of gross but it might tide you over. If you have a backpack or fanny pack I would plan to bring some foods with you. Pack and plan to be away all day and take in what you can. They can question you if you want but you have a medical reason to bring in your own food. Keep your eye out for soft stuff you can eat-- Soups, etc but you'll have to basically depend on your food stores. Take a cold pack to keep your cheese, etc cold at the bottom of the bag. At least you'll have something to snack on until you're off of the grounds and back at your car where you have food you can eat. Make some egg salad or tuna salad and stick it in a ziplock and keep it cool with an icepak or in a cooler in the car.
Also see if you'd be able to leave and come back. You could go to your car and have something to eat and go back. At 2 weeks out though I don't think you'll be all that hungry, but I know very little about the duodenal switch only that the sleeve is part 1 of it and based on how I felt at 2 weeks out, some Snacks should be okay.
I LIVED on pintos and cheese from taco bell during the fist few weeks. Even now I will go through there for some Beans and cheese.

I just asked my sister (who has had a bypass) what she thought of this post, and her response was "Grab her by the hair and slam her face into a car door."
I guess I never realized how competitive my sisters were when I was growing up, sheesh! That what I get for being the baby...

Your sister clearly has issues and that is HER problem. Don't make it yours. I get that it is hurtful feeling betrayed by someone you trusted. I grew up with a mother who berated me for my weight from an early age. I was told things like people don't hire fat people. At my own wedding she slapped my hand away when I reached for a bun in the bread basket. I wasted a lot of years being angry at her for something that I realized was HER issue and I had made it mine. After that I realized I needed to feel sorry for her not mad at her. And it was her issue and it was there (in her case) because she grew up with a horribly abusive mother. At 110lbs she can not get skinny enough to be satisfied. When I let that go I started being happy in my own body no matter what. Now I'm doing surgery for my health not so satisfy my or anyone else's neurosis or problems...so when my mom told me my weight loss goal is not low enough..I just sigh and remind myself it is her problem raising it's ugly head and I let it go, instead of letting it derail me.
You can do this! I believe in you. Go to a local support group. Find people who do support you and spend some time with them. If I can resist the urge to kill my hubby and steal his popcorn (my kryptonite) you can too.
Also, call her out on her crap. Next time she does it confront her...she needs to know what she is doing is destructive for her...not just you and it is not ok for her to treat you like that.

Oh, another false title. I don't care if people have time to start topics to complain about others. I can ignore [almost] anything. All I ask is that movie titles not be taken in vain so that my time isn't wasted.

Right??!! People have not supported Obama for years. SCOTUS? That seat should not have been vacant into a new administration. And Trump was denying Obama as a true US citizen up until a few months ago. So now the dissenters should support Trump? Nah. Not how it works.

But here's the thing about that "voting for change". Why then would they keep the Republican congressman who were up for reelection? That's not shaking things up. They also knew before the election some of the cabinet picks he was proposing. Newt Gingrich? Rudy Gulianni? Chris Christie? Talk about some fresh faced Washington outsiders! Amiright? Seems his supporters are going to see what's at the bottom of that drained swamp.

Without more information it is hard to know what to suggest.
    Are you tracking your food?
Are you getting in all of your Protein and fluids?
Are you eating enough? Are you eating too much?
    Are you exercising?
Have you talked to your NUT about your concerns?

Does your Bariatric practice have a therapist or counselor on staff? I highly recommend that you don't do this and that you talk with your NUT or a therapist about healthy ways to address your challenges.

My surgeon does not perform surgery on anyone who isn't smoke free and committed to staying smoke free.
For your sake and your health, I hope you are able to take this opportunity to remain smoke free.

Inner Surfer Girl got a reaction from H.150ToGo in Anyone start over 400+ lbs and had awesome success?
I started at a much higher weight than you and I am over half way to goal.
It is possible to be successful. Just don't calibrate your expectations based on what other people experience.
You will probably experience rapid weight loss initially. You will probably experience slow downs and weight fluctuations. You will definitely experience periodic stalls, starting with a pretty common one about three weeks post op.
Based on my experience so far, the best thing to do is:
    Follow your program.
    Track your food.
Make sure you get at least 64 oz of Fluid a day.
Make sure you reach your Protein target every day.
Avoid starches, added sugars (especially high fructose corn syrup), and fried foods.
Take your Vitamins and supplements as directed.
Practice mindful eating: eat slowly, take small bites, and chew thoroughly.
    Exercise when cleared.
    Stay off the scale.
And, learn to Embrace the Stall
