  1. I agree. Your NUT would be the person to ask. My primary focus is Protein and fluids. If you are getting in all of your protein and fluids, then you should be fine. You may need some extra carbs above that for your exercise intensity so that is where your NUT will have the expertise to help. I the meantime, focus on getting in all of your protein and AT LEAST 64 oz of Fluid (more if you are exercising a lot), taking your Vitamins and supplements as directed, and avoiding added sugars, starches, and fried food.
  2. Yes it can.Happend to me I am surprised you were denied outright without a plan to address your issues/barriers to success. Rather than lying, why not ask for help developing a plan to help you deal with the fact that being around food post-op will be a challenge?
  3. For some reason the link isn't coming up.
  4. It sounds like you are doing ok (except maybe for the rice crispies.) Are you taking a PPI? Sometimes stomach acid seems like hunger. Early out, especially when I was still on liquids, I ate pretty much round the clock in order to get in all of my protein and fluids. That is your priority. As you start to eat more solid, satisfying foods and can get more protein in per meal you won't need to eat as often.
  5. Weighing less frequently is a great idea. Embrace the Stall http://BariatricPal.com/index.php?/topic/351046-Embrace-the-Stall
  6. Nails reflect our health. They respond to protein and vitamin level. Make sure you are getting in all of your protein and taking your vitamins and supplements as directed (not just biotin).
  7. This sounds great (mostly). I would recommend that you work with your programs NUT for your self-styled pre-op diet 1) just in case your surgeon has a requirement for a supervised diet, and 2) to make sure it is healthy -- I would definitely run this appetite suppressant/supplement by your medical team. Best of luck, the next few months are going to be an adventure!
  8. Just think how much money you can save! Maybe take the money you spend on comes and buy coca-cola stock!
  9. There are some reason posts where people are panicking about giving up pop and coming up with all kinds of justifications for not doing it. They need to hear your story.
  10. One thing I have learned through this process is how bad my nutrition was pre-op ---definitely carb heavy with much too little Protein. Just weaning yourself off of the cokes will do a tremendous amount for your health.
  11. This definitely sounds like something you need to address with your PCP.
  12. Yes, this is perfectly normal. You just had major surgery. There is nothing wrong with testing. Just focus on your Protein and fluids, and keep taking your vitamins as instructed. It gets better. Ok thanks! Sent from my SAMSUNG-SM-G900A using the BariatricPal App *testing should be *resting...
  13. I am a firm believer in using every resource available. I am glad to hear you have a mental health team to work with.
  14. You have been through the ringer. Glad to hear that things are looking up.
  15. Our body does not store protein (like it does with fat and carbs). If we do not consume sufficient protein, we will not have enough for basic bodily functions and the body will consume its own protein (muscle), which can lead to loss of muscle mass, loss of hair, slow or no healing, heart problems, etc. We NEED protein for healing and weight loss.
  16. Welcome. Without knowing what you are doing it is hard to give suggestions. I recommend that if you are unhappy with where you are that you make an appointment with your NUT to talk about your goals. In the meantime, go back to basics. Follow your program. Track your food. Make sure you are reaching your Protein target every day. Get at least 64 oz of Fluid every day. Take your Vitamins and supplements as directed. Avoid starches, added sugars, and fried foods. Exercise. Embrace the Stall http://BariatricPal.com/index.php?/topic/351046-Embrace-the-Stall
  17. My understanding is that the sleeve started the other way around. Some extremely high BMI folks were given the sleeve as the first part of a two-step procedure so they could lose enough to safely undergo the second part. So many people did so well that they didn't need the second part that they started offering it as a standalone procedure.
  18. I have a sleeve. I am allowed to drink up to the time I eat. I usually wait a while after I eat just because my stomach is full of food.

  20. The sleeve/stomach has a pyloric valve at the bottom that empties the stomach. Liquids do not sit in the stomach indefinitely, they pass through the stomach. If you drink slowly, the stomach can empty as fast as you fill it.
  21. This is simply not true. Our bodies are not simple machines, they are complex systems.
