  1. My surgeon use a BodPod to measure your Fat % ratio to Lean mass Ratio and it also give you the # of Calories you need to maintain your current weight if sedintary or active or very active. I went from a BMI of 47 before surgery to 36 today. I also have lowered my fat % to 49% it was 59% so I think that is an improvement but I was very disappointed that it was not more. I work out 6 days a week religiously and my body as changed enormously in the 6 months since surgery. Both in mass and fat at least to the naked eye. When I tell people that I still want to lose 70 more pounds they think I am nuts. I am just looking at my body not at the numbers anymore because it is so depressing.
  2. I wait the 30 minutes before and after a meal to drink. I too have trouble getting in all the water I need because I try to get 12 glasses a day since with my workouts I need more, and that is really pushing it. I know this works at keeping me full, I push water and water and more water!! LOL
  3. It has certainly been the best decision of my life. I have gone from 287 2 215 pounds in 6 months. I have gone from a tight size 28 to a size 16 and I have actually bought size 14 jeans....YEAH! I feel better than I have in over 20 years, and I work out 6 days a week and I am sure that my energy is coming from those workouts. My stress level has gone from 90 to a 10 and that was worth every bit of it. I feel more confident than I ever have in my life that I will be a healthy weight by my band anniversary. I am thrilled beyond belief and I thank everyone here that has given me the encouragement to keep going when the scale is not moving as I want it too!!
  4. I use Sparkpeople.com I did look at Dailyplate and I liked it. I have been bad this month with logging just don't have time except at work. I am at a plateau and discouraged a bit, I have not lost a pound in over a m onth and I am still working out 6 days a week, I see the surgeon on Tuesday am thinking it is time for my 1st fill perhaps. YOU LOOK AMAZING GIRL!! I am so thrilled for you you have really done well these past few months Congratulations!!
  5. I would love to plan on attending this event Keep us posted on information as you get it please!! Thank you
  6. I was banded on Nov 9th so less than 6 months!!
  7. Not at all I had little to no problems adjusting it has really been smooth sailing so far. I have to admit that I was not so sure at first, but I am sold totally that I made the best decision for myself that I could of ever done! I love the band. Congratulations on your date....and good luck!!
  8. This is my new reality. I have gone from a size 28 that was too tight, in just a short 5 months to a size 14. I bought them last yesterday and I love them. I am so proud of myself. Although I have seen little to no scale movement in the past month I have seen my size go down 2 pant sizes so things are a changing. I am thrilled with my BAND and it is certainly my best friend. I still have no fill and will talk about this with my surgeon next month on the 13th when I see him for my 6 month check. What a great feeling it is!!`
  9. Hang in there Karen just keep fighting to get the Band, even if the insurance says NO don't stop there you can fight them they work for you afterall. I bill medical insurance all day long it is my job. If I can be of any help let me know! Thanks for the kind words about my son, it hurts to this day. But yes I have finally realized eating was not really helping my pain..... It was a nice realization because it has allowed me to focus on getting better. I know my food addiction is still there I just have control of it now, and I plan on having it forever!!
  10. Glad that your meeting went well. May would work for me fine just not the 2nd or 4th Monday nights. I will work around the rest. Let me know what you decide. I will be there. Hugz to everyone!!
  11. Yes it is I wear my weight in my hips and stomach and that is why I believe. But I have to admit that bought my first pair of size 16 jeans one week ago and I was thrilled.... I am headed downward and it feels awesome!!
  12. Hi Karen: Yes I was an emotional eater, I put all of my weight on after the death of my son in 1988. I no longer let food control me. I love how feel it is truly the most awesome feeling in the world!! Congratulations on your decision to be banded you will not be sorry!!
  13. Because our tiny stomachs cannot handle them and they will eat holes in the pouch. That is what I was told and this is forever, not temporary. I was told tylenol only as well!!
  14. I got mine from Laurens Hope.com I had my name Gastric Lap Band No NG Tube & NSAIDS Allergies: Dr. phone# I love mine it was my reward for losing 50 pounds!!
  15. Yes I work out six days a week religiously. I can tell you the work out is worth every minute of it too. It maked me feel great and at the same time it is reshaping my body. I have followed the plan strictly. I do not eat more than I should be at one sitting, and I drink lots and lots of Water. I just don't have issues with food anymore.....I instead eat because my body needs it. I don't comfort myself by eating anymore. The weight has just come off. I am amazed as you are, I know that I am working hard at staying the course.....there is nothing that will cause me to detour I can tell you. I am too happy with my success to date to sabatoge myself. I can feel ONDERLAND just around the bend.....LOL
