  1. I had my surgery 8/30, I was at 226.5 on 8/16 when I started the 2 weeks of Optifast, Surgery date I was 218.5 and 1 week post op I was 210.5 and today 205.5.... I am still on Clear Liquids, at weeks 3 and 4 I get to go to full liquids, and then weeks 5 & 6 I go to Mushies and then after that introduce regular foods... I have been getting frustrated here and there with the liquids, but as of today I see the reults, this past Tuesday I was 210.5 and I got on the scale this morning and saw 205.5 and I didnt believe it, I thought the scale was wrong cuz we just put new batteries in it.. So I went to publix and it said 206.. So I was sooooo happy. I know not supposed to keep weighing yourself,, but I am one of the many that has to see some results.. and keep thinking if I dont lose its only temporary.... I am just starting to like the choice I made,, hard at times, but so far so good.....
  2. Yeah your port is at the largest incision site, it will be somewhere in that general area,, The hardness is also due to them sewing the muscles up and causing scar tissue....... I just had my surgery 8/30/05.. I am now really starting to love it, and feel the liquids only crap is worth it,,,,lol
  3. I get to start full liquids next week,,, My Dr. does 2 weeks Optifast b4 surgery, then 2 weeks Clear Liquids after surgery then 2 weeks full liquids, tehn weeks 5-6 you get to have Mushies....... So that would be a full 6 weeks of liquids..... then Mushies,,,, man I wish MY girl was a baby again,,,,lol nah not really
  4. I was banded 8/30, and the first week I felt great, however I have had more pains this week than I did the day after surgery.. I too get those pains, I find it is when I am full, I am still on Clear liquids, but If I have my broth and then a little later have more Water and more water, etc,,, I feel full, like when ya go to the buffet and have that over stuffed feeling and its hard to breathe,,, that is kind of what it feels like to me, just not tooo bad at breathing. Also all the other places I was "stabbed" have been hurting inside now too.... As the day goes on, the largest incision area gets harder and harder, the one that has a port there somewhere... When I first wake up the area is is softer and non painful of course....
  5. Oooopps forgot to mention those,, I never had to use my heating pad, but Boy I am still using the Malox maxx chewable tablets,,, I am sooooo full of the "farts" but I have to hold until on the toity, so there are no accidents... Ha ha ha ha ha, maybe TMI for some people, but ya know how sometimes guys can be "kids" and love it when they get a really stinky one or sometimes try to pull the covers up over your head?,,, well the other night I had a really bad one.. I mean awful,,, it made my hunny go whew and wanted to get out of bed.... My band has its advantages,,, ha ha ha...just hate having to Fart soooooo much though....
  6. Wal Mart has the adult Tylenol,, to me it doesnt taste to bad at all. Careful with the Ibuprofen, many Dr's dont want you taking that either at all or very sparingly with the band.... Also many only want the liquids and not pills after surgery...... Just trying to help you heal better and not upset an already swollen tummy... Ask your surgeon for sure what kind of Post op diet you will be on and for how long... Mine is one of the long ones. I had 2 weeks of Optifast before surgery, then 2 weeks of Clear liquids Post op and then 2 weeks of full liquids and then 2 weeks of Mushies...... The best of luck to you,,, Soon to be on your way to Loserville
  7. Just wondering if the surgery you had may have moved or kinked the tubing between the band or the port... or maybe come loose at the port... I dont know what kind of PS you had... But I do wish you the best in all of this.....

The Dr I go to in St Petersburg FL is Dr Rehnke/and Dr Grossbard. The self pay price for them all inclusive is 16950. and includes 1 year follow fills etc..... Closer than Mexico. Dr Grossbard trained with Dr Ortiz in Mexico, He also has his own office in Zepherhills FL, however I dont know his self pay price there..... Good Luck
  9. Just curious if anyone knows or has been told also by there Dr, NO rice,,, I mean I know it isnt the healthiest, but dang I like chicken fried rice once in a while from the Chinese resaurant or Brown Rice even....with veggies in it.. I will have to ask my Dr, I just saw it in his list of NO-NO foods....
  10. I dont know about your state, or if it is national, but if you have had coverage I think it is for the past 12 months with no breaks more than 30 days, there is not supposed to be any Pre-existing coverage.... Might want to double check on that, I cant remember if that is part of the Hippa or just a FL thing But I would try the appeal first of course
  11. How weird I also noticed that, I am not sweating as much either, hardly at all since pre-op liquid 3 weeks ago, I am 1 8 days post op now down 16 lbs and I get chilly easy,,,, not super cold just chilled... Very unusual for me.....
  12. I have Empire BCBS and I was approved with NO PROBLEMS AT ALL!!!!!!! It was soooo easy. I had an awesome case manager that I talked to. and she approved me verabally as long as the stuff she got over the phone..from the Dr's office and if he said he would do the surgery... That was the easiest part of all of it.. As long as your work doesnt have an exclusion.... Good luck!!!!!!!!
  13. Centrum coomplete also makes a citrus flavored chewable--for adults....!!! and kids
  14. Believe it or not, many of the "caluses-certain types and rough dry cracked skin can be caused by a certain type of fungal-athletes foot. There is an antifungal cream out for it, not the regular athletes foot cream, but it helps majorly, I didnt have the caluses, but I had the dry cracking feet, and used this on there and hardly have any now.. I am not at home right now so I donthave the cream, but I will have to try and look to see if I have anymore,, I wish I could remember the exact name of the condition, it is a form of athletes foot, but not the kind you might thikn of with the itchy etc and stuff like around the toes etc... I used to be a podiatrists assistant and trimmed all the calluses and super thick nails etc and other stuff... Thats when I learned this.... The podiatrists office can cut the calluses way down, because legally here in FL, nail techs etc are not allowed to cut ot trim or use the "cheese grater" on calluses. The DBPR does not allow it, I am also I licensed nail tech since 1998...So please be careful if your nail tech does this, as teh instruments may not be getting as "clean" as you think especially if they dont change the sanitizing solution... There arent enough inspectors to inspect every salon frequently.. and when they are in the area, the call each other to warn the inspector is in town... Just trying to help as many of us may be diabetics or have other problems, and dont need to add to them with foot problems-sores, etc.....
  15. Well it is 1 week today post op... I am doing pretty good,,, Since 8/16 when I started the Optifast I have gone from 226.5 to 210.5 by my scale.. 8 of those are post "hitchhiker",,, Sometimes I am soooo hungry- I guess in my head, but If I get enough Water in I am pretty good feeling... I started getting nausea spells Saturday morning... I Gag and try "not on Purpose" to throw up the Chewable pre-natal Vitamins... It is soo hard taking them.. I have kept pretty busy too, been doing house work, laundry, cleaning my daughters room, going through all of her clothes, she is 6 and had a major growth spurt, so tall and only weighs 45 lbs.. People kid me and tell me I dont feed her.... took her to the park with HotLikeMe and her kids... Went to her daughters Birthday party, went in the pool for a little bit...Man it was rough they had hamburgers there and Hotdogs, etc... But I took my big jug of Crystal light, and drooled while my Hunny ate his burgers and hot dogs,,,, and french fries baked... Yes its hard but seeing the "Bonus" pounds come off is great while I am healing.... I can see a difference in my face already, just a lil bit....
  16. HI, I had my surgery on 8/30,, I did the Optifast for 2 weeks before surgery, have to do Clear Liquids for 2 weeks, then full liquids for 2 weeks, then the mushies for 2 weeks..... I get gas, but mostly the flatulence kind, I was up and walking around the night of my surgery quite a bit..... I am taking chewable maalox max tablets,,, Mostly hurts in the area with the largest incision, where the port is also.. I have been icing my tummy often, with a freezer pack.... Just been using liquid Tylenol... I just started getting nauseated yeserday afternoon.. most of the time not really hungry if I get all of my liquids-Water in.... Yes I have the head hunger big time though..... So on some occasions I have just found something to chew on and spit it out.. and drink more water then I am ok.... on Aug 16th I started out at 226.5 surgery date at 218.5 and now this morning I am 211.5,, So I am starting to like my new Hitchhiker in me,,,lol
  17. OMG, I sure hope you are OK,,,, how scary I am still on liquids, only 4 days post op,,,, Here's to fast healing for you........
  18. Thanks friends,,,,, I am doing pretty good... Did a small load of laundry yesterday, couldnt sleep last night so I got up and watched tv, then I made my Fiance Breakfast, scrambled eggs, hash browns, and toast, then when I got my daughter up she wanted pancakes so I made her those..... For me, I drank some propel and a prenatal Vitamin,,,lol About time to take her to school..... Hope everyone is doing great, and has a great day.....
  19. Thanks again all, today is soooo much better , some pains when moving, but not really to bad... I slept on my tummy last night, just angled a little bit to the right side, not really all that hungry yet.... Doing pretty darn good I think I am,,, So glad to have it done with.....
  20. Thank-you, I am home and doing great, not a lot of pain, just around the 2 largest sites, and not really all that hungry yet.... get full feeling fast... So glad that the surgery is over now!!!!!!!! I am officially a memeber of the Band Wagon, heading to loserville...lol
  21. Thanks all,, I am home and doing good, not a ton of pain, but I regretted it last night I was in so much pain.... I asked my self what did I do to myself... today is so much better I will type more later, wanna try and take a nap....
  22. Well today is the day,,,, I dont have to be at the Hosp til 2, and it is a 2 hr drive there, so we will be heading up early to maybe take a walk on the beach b4 I go in,,, not sure yet though.........
  23. Thanks all,,,,,,,, and the count down begins,,,,,,lol
  24. OK, tomorrow is my "band" day,, now I am getting nervous.. Not about getting the band, but I really freak out with the IV- getting it put in.. Any time I have needed one they can never get it on the first try and they usually have to have an actual IV nurse do it.. And many times my veins have so called Collapsed and they had to do another one or didnt realize that it had done it and I get a big egg of Water and bruising.... Once I check in to the Hospital I wont get to have my Fiance with me until just before I go back for surgery, and they want you there several hours before.. They say that him back there violates the Privacy laws.. I say BS,,,lol since all of us having surgery are in the same area, then we would be violating each ones privacy... So any way its not the surgery its the IV and the anesthesia that scare me,,,, I always wake up very combative and Throwing up bile etc...Each time I have told the anesthesiologist this they say that it is usually kids that wake up violent and that I have probably outgrown it,,, NOT,,,, and also the stuff they give so you dont get sick,,,, doesnt work.... I dont wanna be sick... :>( OK, there, I whined,, now I feel better,,, OK, not really,,,, Just want-need your encouragement please......
  25. Best of healing to you..... Everything will be fine,,,, I will be there with you on Tuesday......
