  1. I agree kinda of scary for a moment. Any NSV is terrific. Putting on a pair of socks without sitting down.
  2. Though I have plenty of hair on top of my head my stomach is free of hair and did not have to worry about that kind of pain. Your experience sure brought a smile to my face give me the courage to face the day and thank the genes that reside in me. Take care
  3. Congratulations on your new adventure. Like the others you will benefit from all the knowledge on this forum. When I stay away from the forum then I tend to get sloppy with my eating habits.
  4. Walking and Isometrics are what works for me. Be careful and take it easy you have a lifetime ahead of you.
  5. My grand children are convinced that I have an alien in my stomach because of the Crazy and weird voices. Not much of a burper either.
  6. Congratulations I know how you feel. It has been nearly 4 years since I stop taking medication for diabetes medicines also do not have sleep apnea anymore.
  7. Congratulation anytime you have those NSV you should Celebrate. I just love tnot having to use a belt extender on a plane, not having to walk side ways down the airplane aisle. Not losing my breathe when walking down the jetway.
  8. I love to eat always have. What the band does is help me with the amount that I eat. As long as I eat slow and chew and chew and not drink fluids with my meal the hunger passes. Of course the so called comfort foods Ice cream and chocolate go down quickly no matter what. What I lean on is that in the past I would lose 40 pounds and gain 60 so I I guess it is a victory that at least I am not doing that.
  9. Frederic is correct, regarding setting realistic goals. Some will lose fast and some lose slow in any case I know that without the lap band I more than likely be over 400 lbs with an overabundance of medical issues. Take care
  10. There is always tomorrow. can not afford to get down on your self Hope you enjoyed yourself and got back on track.
  11. Congratulation on the start of your journey.
  12. Had my gall bladder removed on March 10, 2013
  13. I have triouble eating Steak can not seem to get it small enough, Orange and apples are difficult can tolerate a small amount of grapes.
  14. Even in Sunny California I have a tendency to be cold, I usually have a sweater at work and wear socks to bed at night. My wife on the other hands tends to be warmer.
  15. my wife and I were banded on the same day and even shared the hospital room. the Nurses thought it was cute. Having both of us on the same journey even though the journey has not been easy and I still have a ways to go I would not trade my band for anything in the world.
  16. What ever your reasons health is very important. I have not taken any meds or used my cpap breathing machine for four years.
  17. Last week I had to have to my gallbladder removed due to severe pancreatitis. I am still doing OK I am back down to 230 and the 100 pound mark. I know that without my band I would be over 330 lbs.
  18. Usually a "Premier Protein" shake with 30g protein in the morning.
  19. I know how difficult life journey can be. I was banded in 2007 so it has been awhile. I too have gained weight and gained back around 40 lbs to 250 but currently am back to 230, For a few seconds I did flirt with being under 200 but I was to tight and lost weight because I could not hold anything down not to healthy. I know that without my band I would still be over 330 pounds with diabities and sleep apnea. I still appreciate my band because I am at a proper fill and it is up to me not to overdue all those comfort foods. In any case I went away from this board where my support came from. Hopefully I will not make that mistake again.
  20. Happy Birthday my Birthday was on March 11 Good luck on your journey
  21. Well I have been away for a while and am checking in. Last week I had to have to my gallbladder removed due to severe pancreatitis. I am still doing OK I am back down to 230 and the 100 pound mark. I know that without my band I would be over 330 lbs.
  22. Two days ago my Dr unfilled my band I had been to tight for quite awhile. I had a upper GI that showed pouch dilation. I will be going back in for another upper GI toward the end of May. I am feeling much better and really need to be careful about what I am eating and avoid those so call soft comfort food. In any case there is still restriction and since the theory is to release the tightness so that the pouch will go back to its original size I cannot jeopardize the process by going crazy eating everything in site.
  23. I was band in September 07 and Two years ago, I hit onderland and then kinda stop paying attention to what I was eating, Stopped exercising and sadly stopped visiting this board, and gained 15 lbs. To get motivated a year and a half ago I I had a fill but the fill was to tight and then had to have the fill removed and continued to gain weight. By January 1, 2011 I weighed in a a mighty 245 lbs. January and February I lost 10 lbs. Went to the DR and received a fill on March 1 and since the fill I lost another 11 lbs. So I have lost a 21 lbs an am trying to stay from those soft comfort foods that cause me to gain weight. I have started to walk which was my main exercise and. It is possible to get back on track. Jack one of the moderators of this board mentioned in one of the responses in the men room in the "Help I lost my Restriction thread" That we have to learn that comfort food is not really comfort food. He also mentioned something that finally made some sense to me and that is "be able to recognize the simple difference between 'hunger' and 'not hunger'." Jack 4-2-11 I am beginning to remember that what made me successful two years ago was that I was only eating only when I was truly hungry and because t was available or I was bored. On the other hand 4 years ago I might of lost 50 lbs but would of gained lbs The best news is that I still do not have to take medicine for diabetes and do not have to use a cpap machine so still many things to be thankful about. Hopefully the following link works http://www.lapbandtalk.com/topic/121891-help-i-have-lost-my-restriction/ to see the entire post, Though it is in the Mens room and you might not want to be there to long.
  24. Congratulations and keep up the great work. I too am longer diabetic and no longer use a cpap machine.
  25. I gain a significant amount of weight around 45 lbs in a year and a half but this January I got back with the program and in March got another fill. So I have lost about 20 lbs since January, Just need to remember to stay way from the comfort foods that will slide down the old band like chocolate and ice cream. Good luck on your new life and your new adventure with the lap band
