Mayaresearchmom got a reaction from Len657 in Craving chocolate and sugar
Try the almonds that have cocoa on them. I find them just sweet and chocolate enough to kill those cravings. Also just discovered dole strawberry dippers in the freezer section of grocery. They are halved frozen strawberries dipped in dark chocolate. 60 calories a serving, 4 grams of fat, 6 grams of carbs, and 1 gram of Protein. They also gave banana dippers, but I'm not a fan of banana, much less frozen banana.

Mayaresearchmom got a reaction from zaaky11 in Post Bypass Surgery foods I can eat
I have found that my taste has changed. I'm almost 2 years post op. I still don't get hungry. I have to remind myself to eat on a schedule. That being said, I still enjoy Popeyes fried chicken. I usually order the kids meal that just has a leg and get a side of red Beans and rice. I just take the skin off the chicken. At Wendy's it's a small chili with added cheese and onions on top. I usually stay away from burgers and fries because of the carbs. If it's pizza, I eat the toppings off and leave the crust.

    Bari-Bread: Prep time - 10 minutes, Cook time - 20-30 minutes
Let's start with the basics. I'm sure many of us wish we could still have some sort of bread, even if only as a vehicle for meat, eggs, or cheese on our sandwiches. Despite their apparent simplicity, this riff on Paleo Oopsie Rolls have a great flavor reminiscent of potato bread and easily modifiable to meet most any palatte.
    Ingredients:
    1/8 tsp cream of tartar
    1/8 tsp salt
    3 egg whites
3 Tbsp lowfat cream cheese or neufchatel, room temparature
    2 Tbsp Water
    Preparation:
    Preheat oven to 300F
Beat egg whites & cream of tartar until stiff peaks form
Blend Water, salt & cream cheese
Fold cream cheese mixture into egg whites gently
Spoon in 6 equal sized 'patties' on nonstick surface (parchment paper with NS spray or silpat)
Bake at 300F for 20-30 minutes depending upon elevation. Remove when browned but at about the texture of the tip of your nose.
Remove from baking sheet and allow to cool to room temperature
Store in refrigerator in an open ziploc

Bariatric Bibim Bop Prep time - 5 minutes Cook time - 10-15 minutes
Alright, I know, Bibim Bob means mixed rice, so any true fan of Korean food, Korean or otherwise will probably want to shoot me for calling this bibim bop, but hey, I love Korean food and this ain't half bad for a bariatric modification. The trick here is to use a little rice vinegar in the 'rice' and then broil it before serving.
    Ingredients (per serving)
Kale, spinach, bok choi, or other greens - 25 g
Gochujang (korean fermented pepper paste) - 1/2 Tbsp
Ground beef (or goat, or chicken, or pork) - 30 g
    Egg - 1
    Cauliflower - 50 g
Rice vinegar (unseasoned) - 1 tsp
    Kimchee - 1.5 oz
    Sesame oil - 1 tsp
Tamari or soy sauce - 2 tsp
    Crushed garlic - 1/2 clove
    Sesame seeds - 1 tsp
Stevia or other sweetener - just a sprinkle (optional)
    Preparation:
'rice' the raw cauliflower in a food processor or cheese grater until rice-sized chunks form, mix with rice vinegar. DO NOT PUREE
Spread the cauliflower in a thin, even layer on a baking sheet, set aside - you'll want to broil this at the end but have it pre-riced
Add sesame oil to pan on med-low heat and saute garlic until not quite brown
Add greens and sesame seeds until wilted. Set aside.
Add ground beef, tamari, gochujang, and stevia to the pan used to cook greens. If you can't find any gochujang (usually found near the curry paste in asian grocers), you can use a black bean chili sauce - even fewer calories just not quite as tasty or authentic
Cook until beef is just done, set aside.
Now fry egg in the same pan, sunny-side up. You want it nearly raw, just cooked enough.
While egg is frying, broil cauliflower rice until brown and almost crispy but not burnt.
Add rice to bowl, top with beef, egg & greens. Stir and enjoy! For extra heat, add no-sugar-added sambal - but go easy. It packs a punch that may be hard to handle for casual-SE Asian cuisine eaters.

Calories: 283 - but good luck finishing even 1 serving in a single meal - I usually split into two meals

I was told to chew each bite 40 times, and to put my fork or spoon down between each bite. I also used baby spoons and forks at the very beginning to get used to the smaller bite sizes needed. LOL, believe me, if you use those you will have no choice but to eat slower.

You may not be feeling stressed, however your body has gone through a major stress, and continues to be stressed as you suddenly start to lose weight. In our pre-op group meetings we were told to expect major pms symptoms, and possible changes to cycles, as the weight loss causes an increase in the release of estrogen and other hormones. Not to worry though as it begins to level out after the first month or so.

Have you tried a scoop or half a scoop of Protein Powder in a carton of greek yougurt? I find it more palatable some days than the shakes. I'm 9 months out, and there are days that I just can't stomach any type of shake, but need to bulk up my Protein intake. vanilla yogurt with strawberry protein powder works well for me.

Yea! Only a few more days for you! I remember feeling the same way the last few days before my surgery. And then for a few days afterwards thinking "what the heck have I done to myself?" Now at 9 months out, and 90 lbs less, I know that it's the best thing I have ever done for myself. Congrats, and best wishes for a smooth journey.

This is an emotional journey.... I have followed this drama and here is what I think.... hurtful things (not necessarily wrong, but hurtful) have been said on all sides. The OP does have a way of attracting those remarks, but he clearly does desire the support here. As others have said, all are welcome here. I personally have a great deal of tolerance for recognizing the ups and downs (emotional) of this journey. I am not tolerant of being called names.
I don't appreciate a blanket statement about a bunch of haters on this site since I try to put time and effort into supporting people, answering newbie questions in forums and PMs etc. I think the OP "gets" that was inflammatory on top of other posts that certainly ticked people off.
I gently suggest and request everyone to stand down. All points have been made, more than once. Of course, everyone can do what they want, but one of my life lessons is that sometimes it is better to be kind and considerate over being "right".
Blocking and ignoring do seem to work. Wonder how many people ignore me? HA!! I don't think I am blocking anyone... 3 years and managed to stay out out of that business.
