Hi everyone, I have a question I had my surgery on 7/3/14 I doing great feel good and I've been doing a lot of walking I'm down 22 pounds including my pre-op diet. Now my question is did anyone start the next phase of their diet be4 it was time to? And do you think that effected your weight. I know I have started to eat meat and wonder if that's why I only lost 22 pounds only 12 since surgery please give information about your journey

I was sleeved at 10 am today. I've been on morphine and anti nausea meds throughout the day. I'm mostly just sore at this point. I've been walking around in the hospital and have no problems with it. The worst part was obviously in recovery. My gas pain has been minimal I'm guessing due to my walking.
Congrats to my other July 14th sleevers! Make sure to get some walking in there!

I too was plagued with fears and doubt! I was sleeved 2/20 at 280 and today I weighed 212.5. What a difference! I want to weigh less but the truth is, if this is as good as it gets its a huge improvement! I have no doubt that I lose more and I am so grateful for this tool! I was so miserable and only getting worse! It is heart breaking that some suffer complications from being sleeved, don't ever take it for granted! Stay on the forums, I found it so comforting to see what everyone was going through! Good luck with your journey!

You're doing great! Don't compare yourself to others because everyone's body is different. I would focus on your plan and keep doing what you are doing. It will come off... besides (I know I said don't compare) compared to others your start weight is considerably low (in weight loss surgery contexts). In total, you have lost 44lbs. What diet could you get on and loss 44lbs in a month?

it was told to me by my doctor that you focus on staying on the liquids during pre-op as much as possible. He did not recommend not following but he understood that most cheat during the pre-op phase. The goal is to shrink your liver as much as possible for they will have little to no interaction with it.
As for cold turkey, after the surgery you are going to have no choice but to go cold turkey. Your options are risking being sick with diaheria(sick) or vomiting. Your stomach is not going to allow you (I don't know as time goes by) in the beginning to eat that much.

On April 17th of this year I had my VSG.
Two weeks prior to surgery I was on 100% liquids with the last week all Clear Liquids. Surgery happens. 2.5 weeks later I was still HATING this decision. food and liquids hurt when you swallowed more than a thimble full. It was a constant fight against 38 years of practice. I lost many battles. Then something happened. I swallowed instinctively and NOTHING BAD HAPPENED. I remember thinking, "Oh shit! I'm about to pop staples and die from some septic gunk coursing through my veins."
Staples held, nothing bad happened, I lived - and still am.
In fact I'm much better. See below:
    April 17, 2014 - Weight 298 lbs. (45.6 BMI)
    June 23, 2014- Weight 224 lbs (34.1 BMI)
    TOTAL WEIGHT LOSS- 74 lbs.
    A1C on Surgery Date- 6.7 (6.5 + is Diabetic)
    A1C on June 16, 2014- 4.6 (5.7 and below is normal)
Post Meal Glucose Level on Surgery Date- 210 mg/dl (DIABETIC is 200 mg/dl or greater)
    Post Meal Glucose Level on June 22, 2014- 99 mg/dl (NORMAL is <140 mg/dl)
    Waist Size Pre-Surgery- 46 in.
    Waist Size June 6, 2014- 36 in
    Shirt Size Pre-Surgery- XXL
    Shirt Size June 6, 2014- L
    Shoe Size Pre-Surgery- 10 wide
    Shoe Size June 6, 2014- 9 med
Addendum: Additional non-quantifiable changes post surgery:
chicken Nuggets were amazing before. They now smell like Satan's dirty underwear. Salmon - Pre-Surgery- yucktastic Now- an amazing fish Ice Cream is impossible to eat now. (kinda bummed about that one...not really) Knee/foot pain from tennis - largely gone Existing on less than 1000 calories a day is not as bad as you may think Gatorade is physically easier to drink than Water (I know, that is hard for me to believe too) My libido is more...noticeable. Any one out there have any comments, recommendations, or accolades to throw my way...Lets read em. Post in comments.

To date, I have loss 63lbs. I think but not certain the rapid weight loss happens more often with huge numbers when individuals are larger. I have some friends that started probably 50lbs lighter than I did and had their surgery on the same day but loss around 40lbs. Also, they say it is unhealthy to compare weight loss with others because everyone's body is different. You may loss much more than I did in your first 9 weeks.
How much weight have you lost so fast?
