I'm going to have to check that out! thanks. My experience at the mall yesterday was like being in a foreign country and unable to speak the language, seriously. I live in a small town of 6,000 people and when I travel for Dr. appointment I shop! I went automatically to the Woman's section of Macy's good ole' stand by and the clothes were so cute but nothing I liked fit, so I figured it was time to venture to the "regular," sizes and I was sooooo confused! I haven't been in those sections for a very long time. I went to find my size and they were all picked over and very few options, unless I wanted to spend $80.00 for a pair of pants, eeeek! Not to wear for 4 weeks, not going to happen!
More to my point, I took all my clothing that no longer fit, to the local consignment stores and since Friday they have already sold 8 of 75 items. I earn 50% and can buy my clothes there until I'm down to goal. These aren't just thrift store quality they have really nice clothing, Just another option.

I was just discharged from the hospital. The experience was wonderful! My doctor is Wade Barker and he performed the surgery at Forest Park Medical Center in Southlake. I'm also self-pay. I wish you all a speedy recovery!

As recommended by my NUT, I take my thyroid pill early in the morning. Two hours later I take Bariatric Advantage advanced Multi EA chewable. My Vitamin has Iron so need to space out between thyroid pill and Calcium intake because Iron will bind with both the thyroid and calcium. Following two hours after Vitamin I can take my Bariatric Advantage Carmel calcium chewy. I follow this regime getting in two vitamin tablets and 3 calcium chewys each day. Because I am very low on B 12 I get B12 shots monthly. I take Benefiber every morning. I need it!
This is going to be my life forever more!

Why do you think you don't want to eat or drink?
You may have to do anyway, otherwise you will become dehydrated and malnourished. Even if you're not getting ALL your Fluid and ALL your Protein, you need to get SOMETHING in. Do it with things you like....cheese, eggs, deli-meat. It doesn't have to be a big production. Just get some in you! It's better than the alternative.

I'm encouraged by your posts. I'm 4 days post op and doing well. no pain meds for 2 days no nausea. I had a drain tube and a hernia repaired, drain tube was removed the next day and left the hospital. I was nervous until the day of and came to a place of peace. I am up walking and back to work. A little tired and winded after walking. I lost 53 lbs pre surgery and now I feel stuck and can't believe my expectations are so high but I know when I get to exercise it's going to be so much better. I was having a little panic about not getting enough liquids to satisfy my thirst but feel there had been some progress every day. It's 100 + degrees outside and I want to stay cool and keep hydrated. The truth is I'm cooler now than I would have been 53 lbs ago. Keep posting, I find inspiration through your personal stories to keep me motivated.

I had my preop appointment last week and scheduled surgery July 3rd! whew I can't hardly contain myself! I've been on liquids for 3 weeks now and had a rough start but figured some stuff out once I got past the headaches. I have been stressed out and nervous the whole time until last week and I know how the uncertainty can make you crazy, thank goodness for support and information, this site helps. I think that everyone is different and the more you have to lose the longer we have to do the liquids. But I've lost 50 lbs preop and I am highly motivated towards success! Good luck everyone.

Although direct contact of the NSAID with your stomach can cause localized irritation, it is the systemic action of the NSAID that causes ulcers and gastric bleeding. The very mechanisms that reduce inflammation also inhibits the mucosal lining from doing it's job to protect the stomach. This is true of both Cox 1 and Cox 2 inhibitors, but by different pathways. So NSAIDS in any form (oral, sublingual or injectable) would all have the same systemic effect. Aspirin, in fact, is so good at causing ulcers that researchers used to administer aspirin to test subjects in order to induce ulcers so they could study and develop ulcer treatments. How much and for how long you can safely take NSAIDS without causing ulcers is debatable and probably varies greatly between individuals. So although I have a medical alert necklace, and I keep traumeel and arnica on hand for aches and pains, I would probably take an Advil or two if something REALLY hurt!
My surgeon actually sends his patients home with a 5 day supply of a sublingual NSAID. He explained that the benefit of reducing the surgical inflammation in the stomach and abdominal incisions greatly outways the risk of ulcers over such a short period of time.

I am in the soft stage now. I'm drinking 2 premier Proteins a day so I get my Protein. I'm eating green Beans or mashed potatoes with a little gravy for meals. My NUT said this is the only stage that she allows KFC mashed potatoes and gravy because the intake is so little. Im only getting about 500 calories a day.

Just FYI everyone, I chose to have "Gastrectomy patient" inscribed on my necklace instead of "VSG" or "vertical sleeve". Unless you are in the bariatric world, you may not know what these are....none of my EMT or nurse friends knew. All medical personnel will understand what a gastrectomy or partial gastrectomy is.
    This is mine....

I was S'd the 10th. No problems with anything physically, just missing the taste of food. Yesterday was a depressing-kinda day. I slept from 10:30 am to 3:30 pm. Tried to fit some Protein Fruit Drinks and some Premier Protein in to makeup for my long siesta!! Joined the FB page for July Sleevers....saw too many pictures of people eating salmon; I can't even have tuna til maybe week 6!!! Chewed a couple of bites of food, then spit them out. Am I cheating already??? Felt a bit sorry for myself but I looked on my dietician sheet and knew Day 7 brought new opportunities....only I'd already started the Premier Protein. Oh well....deciding to take one day at a time, aiming for a positive attitude. Going to lunch with friends, most who don't know about the surgery--yet!! Weighed today--I am down 15 pounds!!!
    Thanks for allowing the vent!!!!

Surgery was 7/1 in Tijuana with Dr. Quinones. Since the start of my 2-week pre-op diet, I'm down 35.4lbs and 11.5 inches! 5 inches from my hips and 2 from my bust are the biggies.
I'm happily eating salmon and Beans and egg drop Soup and other soft foods. Milagro the Mexican Wonder Tummy loves cheese and hasn't rebelled against any foods yet.
After my husband and children, best decision EVER!!!!!

    The Chia Seed.
    The humble chia seed!!
If you're struggling with Constipation, try incorporating chia, either in a pre made drink (love grape chia kombucha by Synergy), greek yogurt with chia on the bottom (17g protein), or make your own chia pudding (many recipes online).
My bf works at one of those hippy grocery stores and just brought home some chia yogurt one day. HOly Crap---literally.
Check it out. Chia is high in Protein, Fiber, Essential fatty acids, and many many Vitamins and minerals etc etc. Do your own research. I'm amazed.
