Low Carb Banders Unite
Thanks...I was soooo nervous about that commercial, lol. Low carb is just about the only way I lose as well. I fight it tooth and nail, but that's just the way it is. I don't really follow the Atkins diet. I try my best to eat about 20 net carbs a day. That is similar to what the Atkins diet suggest, but I don't eat by their food list. They say not to worry about fat, but I do. I try to eat lean meats cooked with healthy fats, not butter. I'm basically eating lean meats, non starchy veggies. I like eating almonds as snacks. I love yogurt, but it's not really low carb so I've cut it out. If I could find some greek yogurt around here, I would eat that because it's a lot lower in carbs. Walmart used to have some, but they've been out for weeks. Anyway, that's what I do. Good luck with low carbing. Let's keep in touch and cheer each other along. Hey there Oregondaisy! Teriyaki chicken sounds goooood. Is it low carb? I love the teriyaki chicken strips from Zaxby's, but that's out of the question since it's breaded, fried, and dipped in a thick coat of teriyaki...

Low Carb Banders Unite
Hey ParaGirl! (btw, how are you?) You can join me. I started low carbing again yesterday. I've managed to make it though 2 days; lol. I don't know if you are anything like me, but once I eat any amount of sugar...it's all I crave! My cravings have already subsided. Hmmm...ideas for meals. Here are some foods that I eat: eggs grilled chicken and a salad or LC veggies tuna salad and chicken salad (I make mine with Tostito's spinach dip...less calories than mayo and still low carb) ham and turkey wraps (just deli meat and cheese rolled up) grilled fish and veggies pretty much any meats (I prefer lean meats most of the time) Spaghetti squash is a good side dish....love it! cheese is a good snack Walmart has stuffed chicken breasts that are good low carb slim fast or atkins shakes for breakfast HTH

Totally agree....she ROCKS! LOL! I'm with you. I thought it was ridiculous! I mean, Bob doesn't even get THAT upset when one of his own goes home! It's not like he won't get to see them still. GEEZ! I think that's why I tend to favor Jillian. Yeah, she didn't like it, but she didn't go all soap opera on us. She dealt with it and moved on!

Smothered Crockpot Meatloaf!!
It's good without the mushrooms. I've made it both ways since DH is not a mushroom fan.

Baked Spaghetti Fake Out
Hey Fairy! If you find you like spaghetti squash, I have another recipe that's really good. It's kinda more of a side dish, but really good. Here's the link --> http://www.lapbandtalk.com/f82/spaghetti-squash-pesto-casserole-52997/

Carol....I'm not the best person to give advice on being stuck or pb'ing. I've only pb'ed twice in the 1.5 years I've been banded. I don't think I've ever really been stuck either. You know your body better than anyone though. If you are feeling better, I say go for it. If not, wait until tomorrow. Feel better. Uggghhh, my week has started off bad! As you know, yesterday my ipod wasn't working and I had a crappy workout. Well, tonight I went to the YMCA to run. I was getting into my groove on the treadmill and I was asked to get off because people were waiting!!!!! I was soooo mad. They have a rule that if people are waiting, you can only do 20 minutes of cardio. While I understand that people don't like to wait, I was not ready to get off! I only ran 2.83 miles. Going without carbs already had me in a pissy mood and that just made it worse. Usually the gym has dwindled down by now. Darn all those New Years resolutions!! Okay....rant over.

Yeah, the insulin resistance sucks. The problem I get into with ANY amount of sugar, is I constantly crave it....even if it's just a little. When I do low carb, the first couple of days are rough. But after the sugar is out of my system, I'm fine. I think I'm just gonna do it and hope I can sustain my fitness level without the carbs.

Kathy....you will get there. I've been in the "100 lbs club" several times, lol. My biggest goal right now is to get to Onederland....seems like it's never going to happen! I'm even debating on going low carb again. Ughhh! I really don't like low carb, but it's the only way I lose. I can maintain with calorie counting, but I don't lose much. I think the PCOS has a lot to do with it. If I decide to low carb it, I probably won't be able to keep running 5 miles a day

I have a running playlist I use. It's a lot of my favorite fast songs and I also bought a workout album on itunes. The workout album is popular songs, not all are orginally fast, but they are remixed to be fast with a good beat. My music style is eclectic. I have everything from Miley Cyrus to Kid Rock to Hinder to Flo Rida....everything under the sun, lol. I like a good, fast beat. Congrats on week 4!!!! You definitely experienced a runners high! Congrats!!

MacMadame...if it makes you feel better, I didn't get credit for my run tonight. UGGHHH! Sooooo frustrating!! I went to the gym and my ipod was frozen. It wouldn't do anything! It wouldn't move, turn off....nothin'. So, I didn't get credit for my 5 miles tonight. When I got home, DH figured out how to reset it. The worst part was having to run with no music! It was soooo boring! I plugged my headphones into the TV thingy and watched "Chuck", but it was hard to keep going without the music.

WTG Whosya!! You rock!!! I have taken the last 2 days off. I felt like I was about to really wear myself out if I didn't take a break. I'll be hitting it stong tomorrow again. I think I'm going to try to run Mon-Fri every week and take Sat and Sun off. I'm soooo lazy on the weekends, lol. Renewed.....how's it going? Haven't heard from you lately. Hope the move is still going well! Kathy...Way to power through that run!!!

February 2009 Exercise Challenge
I took it easy today. I ran 2 miles on the treadmill and called it quits. I've been debating about trying a spin class. My only worry is the teeny tiny seats, lol.

Good to hear from you Renewed!! I've missed your posts! Moving is a nightmare. Glad it's going well though. Kathy....glad your headache is easing off! Congrats on your run too! I did 5 miles again today. I did intervals (1 mile runs/ 0.5 mile walks). I like to switch it up pretty often. Doing this way was actually harder than doing a long straight run. I guess it's harder to get going again after stopping. Anyway, I'm feeling pretty good today.

Hey LMJ! Off topic: How's the new baby doing? Hope you are all doing well. I saw a picture of him on your blog. He's adorable. I've often wondered about that as well. Once in a blue moon it shows them cooking something healthy, grabbing a healthy breakfast, or shows them going to Subway, but that's about it. Food is a major part of weight loss. You'd think they would show what they eat...

Thanks TQUAD! I'm trying to get over a cold. That was the hardest 5 miles I've ever done, lol.

Congrats Ninner! You're doing great!! Sorry you're not feeling well Kathy. I used have them too. I had a brain scan and nothing abnormal showed up on mine. I think mine are allergy related. I rarely ever get them anymore. I surely don't miss them, lol. For me, laying down in complete darkness was the only thing that made it bearable. Hope you feel better soon!

***DISCLAIMER: SPOILER...DO NOT READ IF YOU HAVE NOT WATCHED THE SHOW YET*** I don't want to spoil it for those who haven't seen it yet, lol. I don't like pink either. I'm really surprised that the mother didn't want to keep Shanon there, especially since she had more weight to lose. I got the feeling that Shanon wasn't as set on going home as she made out. The mom came across as selfish to me, but I'm a little pissy today, lol. Honestly, I would have been fine with both of them going home. I'm really liking Tara too! How can you not love her determination and drive. She's amazing!! I thought Laura did better this week. Tara casts a pretty big shadow though. I just hope Laura can keep up...
