Check in: Week of Nov 17th Sleevers!

Today is 2 months to the day. I can eat almost anything, only a few things upset my sleeve. I get in 50-90 grams of protein (it depends on how much I supplement with shakes and bars and how much real protein I consume) and I am thankful that the temp of liquids is not an issue for me (ice cold, steaming hot or room temp) all make me happy. I started my journey: 307, surgery weight: 291 current weight: 263, that is 28 down since surgery but 44 down since i began my journey, I am 6' tall... I find myself wishful that the weight would come off faster, but when I look at pictures I see the difference, not to mention that I have changed/gone down in pants and tops. I know I need to up my exercise and I will see a more consistent loss on the scale and in my clothes. So that is my goal for this month!
  2. I was sleeved on 11/20 and my mom came to stay with me. I live in the Midwest and she came in from California for just over 2 weeks. The first 3 days were the worst for me a d she kept me on my meds schedule (pain and anti nausea). By day 3 I was feeling so good that she ended up keeping me from over doing it and hurting myself. I am the type of person who does everything on my own so she has helped remind me that during healing I have limits. But this second week with her has been very vacation like

Check in: Week of Nov 17th Sleevers!

So I was sleeved on Thursday the 20th and I have had a headache on and off since yesterday. I am thinking it is from not enough nutrients. Any one else have this?

Check in: Week of Nov 17th Sleevers!

Hi dashofsunshine, I have pain in my chest too when I breathe deeply. I was given a spirometer that I suck air in to, its job is to exercise my lungs, it does hurt a bit but the more I use it the less breathing deeply hurts. Praying that they find out what is going on with your heart.

Check in: Week of Nov 17th Sleevers!

It is done and I am home. There were delays at the hospital that bumped my surgery from 8:30am to about 11:30am, I got to my room about 4pm and was so sleepy and nauseous. Oh and the anesthesia made me solo sick I threw up on the OR when they woke me up, it took 3 different nausea meds before it was controlled. I was given morphine and threw up 3 times (once with each dose in my room) I was then switched to Tylenol with Codeine which is great. I tire quickly but overall doing great. Oh and the gas pains are tuff to deal with!! Walk, walk, walk...

15 minutes till I head to the hospital. Still excited and can't wait to be on the other side. Thank you everyone who has been sleeved this week for sharing the 'how it's been' in the early days and hours after their surgery.

I had a dream I was already post-op last night so I am beyond ready. So glad to hear everyone is doing so well who has been sleeved this week.

Check in: Week of Nov 17th Sleevers!

I start my pre-op diet on Monday the 17th, only 3 days for me (feeling very blessed in that), but when I start it will be all liquids: 3 or 4 Protein Shakes, any and all Clear Liquids. ex of any and all clear liquids: thin broths or bouillon, no added sugar Gelatin (any color), sugar free drinks like crystal light, sugar free popsicles, If blood sugar being too low becomes an issue 100% fruit juice (apple, grape or cranberry) diluted by 1/2 with water. my surgery is set for the 20th!!! My excitement is growing by the day, I can't wait for next Thursday to arrive!!!

pre-op visit tomorrow! why is it set for 2 hours?

I just had my pre-op today. It consisted of meeting with my surgeon, one hour nutrition class going over poe-op diet as well as lots post-op diet and general stuff, then I got to go get more blood work to ensure my vitamin levels were good, a chest x-ray and an eeg (or was it EKG... The one that takes longer to hook up than to run)... My surgeon was running an hour behind but all that only took 3 hours. Hope that helps.
  10. I too have this worry. I go in for my pre-op stuffs on Monday 11/10 and I have been fighting a throat/sinus thing which is settling in my chest a bit. I am not scheduled for surgery until the 11/20, so I hope they see there is time for everything to be resolved... but as part of my pre-op testing I see the anesthesiologist and get a chest x-ray (and other things) so I hope he/she will not nix the surgery that is to happen 10 days after that visit. I am only to have a 3 day pre-op liquid diet and I am very grateful.
  11. I was given my surgery date on Friday - scheduled for 11/20. I told my manager that same day, as well as all friends and family who will be told. My mom is coming to stay with me for my 2 weeks off to help out wherever I need it, she needed as much time as possible for plane tickets to not cost an arm and a leg. Today I called the short term disability people to open my claim.... Wow! My new life has almost started! It now fees so much more real now!!! A week from today I go in for pre-op stuff and get my instructions for pre-op diet which should be 3 days... I have had a super smooth process so far. I hope this continues and post-op is just as smooth.

    Awaiting approval - Cigna

today i got my surgery date!!!!! November 20th!!! wow, when things get moving they get moving!!!!!
  15. I am in your boat too. I found out that insurance sent approval yesterday, when I called my surgeons office today to speak with the insurance coordinator I was told they did get it yesterday and would call me (the nurse would) in the order the insurance approval was received to get on the schedule. If I don't hear from them tomorrow before their office closes for lunch I plan on calling them once they are back from their lunch hour. I too want to have my out of pocket max put to good use before it resets in January. Good luck!
