I completed all of my requirements since July 10....WHY am I finding out today that my Dr office is still sitting on my file waiting submission. I could not believe it when she told me my file was gonna be submitted one day this week for approval, she had no excuse as to why they haven't sent off my paperwork, she only said that it takes up to 30 days for approval, which they had already told me that. So I called BCBSIL just to check and well, no paperwork submitted....I am just fuming!!!!!

Had my appointment yesterday, my Dr took all the saline out my band, and my paperwork has finally been submitted to BCBS ????

Hopefully it will all be over soon. Hopefully the ball will get rolling quicker after your appointment on Friday. Good luck

I agree with VSGANN 2014, that it is not as important to them as it is to you. These delays are so ridiculous and unnecessary. My doctor sent mine in the day after my last appointment with him. BCBS Federal approved it in two days. So hang in there and stay on top of them. They expect certain results from you, so you should be able to expect certain standards of customer service.

Eventually, it'll all work out. But nobody cares about it going fast nearly as much as you (and I) do.

I feel your pain. My doctor's office is slow as well. It took them a week to mail me my surgery date and pre-op diet. BCBS took less than a week to approve me so hopefully you can make up lost time. I was on a time crunch so it drove me crazy with holdups and I had a bunch. Keep thinking positive thoughts

Breaking from caffeine and sugar can cause headaches. Its withdrawl! It goes away.

I am on day 5 of my liquid diet (pre-op). Day one was horrible. I thought "There's no way I can do this for two weeks." Day two was a little better, but then I got the dreaded headache (what causes this?) for the last two days. Today, I am surprisingly not hungry. I do think about food and wonder about weeks and weeks with nothing solid, but it is definitely getting easier.
I think this liquid diet is a good start to reprogramming my brain not to use food as a "go-to" in situations when I'm bored, stressed, etc. I will say I have no appetite for broth...it doesn't help anything. I eat some SF Jello just to break the monotony, but mostly just have the shakes and Water.
So, my two cents...hang in there. It gets better.

LOL! The other day I went in to see the NP.....she said I can tell in your face you are losing weight....I laughed and said "I am waiting for the day that you tell me that you can tell with my butt that I am losing weight"!

I need a letter of consent from my lung dr, seeing I have COPD. Also from the cardiologists since Ive had 2 rounds of CHF.
Te lung doctor said it's to early to give me the letter now seeing I'm not getting sleeved till Nov. Better to be safe than sorry.

A.Stoot that's great follow up on the paperwork you can Aldo check with your insurance company once they say they submitted it to ensure they did, keep us posted you got this, your almost there next will be a surgery date .

4 wks out, i can eat about 1/4 cup at a sitting, mostly Protein at this point. it is PLENTY, and my sleeve lets me know when i am nearing full. if i don't listen and keep going, it is pure PAIN for about 40 minutes after. not worth it.

Its been my experience at first i was able to eat only 1 oz at a time. Now at four week post-op i could eat 3 oz max. I feel that bites is a relative term since each of us bite off differently. I like to stick with ounces rather than bite sizes.

BarbCB, Cupcake and You were right, I called my Dr. office, who of course had to call me back. After speaking with my surgeon's nurse, she told me that they are still waiting results from the EGD but my Dr had some concerns with the results of my eco/stress test that was done June 20, my only question was why now, they could have called me when they first had a concern so I could get in touch with my cardiologist. So I had to call my cardiologist office to make them aware that I need a letter of consent for the surgery. my surgeon's nurse told me that once they receive the letter, they should have a surgery date for me within 5 days after. So now I have keep a close eye on if they really fax my cardiologist and when the cardiologist office sends the letter. Praying it all go smoothly so I will not have to stay on the phone asking everyday because I WILL DO IT

Call the doctor office I found the person responsible for insurance submission didn't know I had met all requirements. I had to call her. And then she relayed info to surgery scheduler. In my doc office diff people do different things. So make sure you connect with them and not get lost in the shuffle

AStoot sounds like a plan keep us posted, and congrats on your choice to be healthy I know the time seems like forever once you have dedicated yourself to this life style changes but it is so worth it and I am only 8 weeks out.

The 6 month wait is over. Call your insurance co. Or dr. Offices. It's over!

My doctors submitted my paperwork to the insurance ASAP but I still had to wait 4 months for surgery due to the long waiting list for my surgeon but he was so worth the wait.

I would give the Dr. office a call, you have nothing to lose. I have had paperwork misplaced. I am impatient also, but I think by now you should have an answer. Can you check the insurance company activity on line? I know I can access all of my BCBS info on line. Unfortunately in SC they don't pay for any bariatric surgery. Luckily I am eligible for medicare because of my MS and there isn't any pre authorization required. I was scheduled for 7/23 but just got a great new job working for an airline so I postponed it until 9/3 after vacation season is over...... I can't wait!! Good Luck!!
