Goal!! The band works for those who have tried everything and always failed!! 111.5 pound gone!! Can not put into words how happy I am, however, it also feels unreal! Will have to get use to not having over whelming diet goals. I have never had that in my adult life. woohoo! :w00t:

Major NSV!
Yesterday, I went to my yearly Diabetes check-up. I also needed to check my blood pressure because I had stopped taking my blood pressure medicine a month ago. My Blood pressure was (with no medication) 102/75!! And the doctor had to change my status to "NON-DIABETIC"! She said it is a rare treat to change a patient's status for the postive. My diabetes was the main reason I got the band. What a great day!

Fast Approaching 1 Year Bandiversary!
Carrie_C, I try to never eat sweets, unless, it is a holiday or a special occasion. I keep track on my calories and protein using "livestrong.com", "My Plate". I try not to eat more than 1400 calories a day and have at least 70g of protein. The protein helps keep your metobolism working well. And I watch my carbs. I do eat some carbs but I do avoid Mashed potatoes, rice, pasta and sweets. I have noticed eating too little (under 1000 calories) for an extend time will really slow my weight loss. I do not regularly exercise. When school is out I will start walking and get on a schedule with my eliptical. I hope this helps! And 50 + pounds lost is nothing to be sad about!!!!

What do you reward yourself with?
I have bought a 6ctw. green amethyst ring ... that is gorgeous. I have had "100lbs!" engraved inside the band. I have not worn it yet and I asked my husband to hide it until I come out of the bathroom one morning doing the 100 dance. I am getting close to wearing that ring. As of this morning I am down 99lbs! It is funny. I use to go out to eat as an award... that doesn't work any more. So buying a new size now and then if really fun!

Cravings for Sweets - What do you do?
Found something great just today! Cocoa Almonds by Emerald. My sister found them at Sam's so I bet they are sold at Wal-mart as well. They taste really good, the cocoa does not add additional calories. It is a great source of protien and fiber. I also love the SF pudding. I really like to make parfeit with coolwhip but sometimes it is too fluffy and it won't go down well. Adkin bars are also a nice treat!

Jadensmom... I am so sorry to hear about your year. Congratulation on 44lbs! That's great!! jkpenny.... I agree, the band has taken all the fun out of eating. However, I think I was having way too much fun eating. Congrats on your 53lbs!

Help........Cold Feet!!!
I have notice the gastric bypass people lose much faster (at first) and have a bigger problem with the skin issues. That being said.... I am much older than you, 47. I have lost 95 pounds in 11 months (unbelievable for me). My skin is looser, for now. I can make wrinkles where there never have been wrinkles before but I don't think it looks bad to other people. I feel so much better! I fit in regular movie seats and rollercoaster seats!! I am on no medication!!! And I look much better in clothes (which is 99.999% of the time). If I am a bit saggy here and there only me and my Dr. will know about it. They say to give yourself a year before you give up on your skin tightening up. You are probably just getting nervous and focusing on the wrong stuff. So the worse case senerio is... you lose a lot of weight and your skin sags just a bit at first and you feel great and your health dramtically improves!! It is still better place than where you are now! Good luck! I have not regretted a moment my choice to get the band. It really works! Check out the before and after photo thread now and then (it is on general labband thread). I think it is a great motivator! Most everyone on there looks great and one day you can post there too.

My mother's mouth is what needs to be banded.
I read this thread because the title and your avitar name both made me laugh :tt1:. I bet your fun! I had a minor but similar situation. A co-worker was getting banded at the same Dr. and eventually she figured it out. I would have kept it to myself if I could but there was no way once she found out. Nothing mean spirited but she was so excited and could no contain it. So, I didn't want to come accross ashamed. It was just I didn't like the idea of people watching too closely. And what if I failed :smile2:! Well it ended up to be a liberating thing and 99% of the people have be super suportive. And when (not if) you start looking dramtically thinner and your heavy co-workers ask you what you are doing... how do you not tell the truth. I have been honest to anyone struggleing with their weight. If a scrawy person who isn't really nice compliments me I just say thanks...that is all. Good luck and be aggressive!

How Many Calories Do You Consume On An AVERAGE Day?
This thread got me thinking about calories and I realized I had no idea how much I was eating. I knew I was eating less but that was all. As I get closer to goal the slower the weight is coming off. I started keeping a journal on livestrong.com "The daily Plate". It is free, I love it and I am completely hooked. I thought I was eating enough protein...I was wrong. I have only been tracking for 2 weeks and the weight loss is picking up. I am eating 900-1200 calories. This allows me 3 meals and an afternoon snack. Hopefully by my band-aversity (May 12th) I will get to post on "Who has lost 100 pounds"!

Popcorn?!?
I am a pop-aholic! I love popcorn. I am very restricted and really have very little problem eating popcorn. I fill-up much faster and can not eat as much as before.... but that is the purpose of the band. It works!!
