  1. I was constantly on a diet so often times I call myself going to salad bars where you pay per pound. I like all the different selections so I always wanted a little of this and that and well, my eyes are bigger than my stomach so I always overdid it and end up paying over $10.00 for lunch. Well when I am on solid foods after surgery, I can't wait to be able to go to a salad bar and get very little and be satisfied. I always admired the people who get the small containers and have very little in them. I can't wait for that to be me. lol

    Gastric Sleeve Surgery in NYC

I was sleeved on June 30th by Dr. Holover from NY Bariatric Group on 28th Street in Manhattan. Website Stopobesityforlife.com. Welcome to the site and Good luck.
  3. It depends on the insurance. I have a $1000.00 copay for a hospital stay. I paid $150 the day of surgery so I received a bill for $850.00.

    Favorite in Puree?

I liked pureed baked chicken with cottage cheese. Good luck with this stage. Just know it will be over soon.
  6. Hi Trudy, I'm doing pretty good. I started the gym this week so I feel like I'm getting back to a normal schedule. I was out for three weeks so this is my second week back at work, surgery was June 30th. I came home (day #2) on soft and pureed food. I eat eggs, tuna fish, chicken salad, egg salad, pureed baked chicken, fish, turkey meatballs, turkey slices and yogurt. What's changed is the way my clothes fit and the amount of food I'm able/unable to eat. It's amazing to me how much I can eat. How are you feeling? Are you tolerating the soft/pureed food well? I work on Broadway, 2 blocks from City Hall. We work in the same area. I'm looking forward to sharing stories and possibly meeting up. Have a wonderful day and even better weekend.
  7. Hi @@truberry, Congratulations on your surgery. I had my surger 6/30. I live in the Bronx and work in lower Manhattan. I would like to chat about our experience and possibly meet up. I hope all is well. Chat with you soon. Take care.
  8. Hi, Very good post. I love it!!! Thanks for putting it together and most of all, thanks for sharing. That was very nice of you. Take care.
  9. The day after surgery (1 day post op) I was on pureed/soft foods. I never had a problem with any of the food I've eaten.
  10. Cut up your medication and start taking them again. If you don't feel like doing it yourself, have your husband cut them but please start your medication immediately. Afterall, they were prescribed to you for a reason. Good luck!!!

    Liquids

At least 64 oz of liquids including protein and popsicles.
  12. Congratulations. I am so happy for you and this is just the beginning. You will be in the single digits in no time. Keep up the good work!!! I was able to get into a size 14 on Saturday and just a few weeks ago, they wouldn't get past my thighs. Good for us!!!!
  13. Hello, I was sleeved on Monday, June 30th. Upon arriving home on 7/1, I started the stage II pureed/soft mushy food diet. I am only able to eat 1 oz of pureed food where as another woman who had the same surgery on the same day and with the same surgeon can eat 3 oz. What the heck? That's a huge difference when talking ounces. I'm curious, how many ounces were you able to eat a few days post op?

    surgery Aug 6th

I was on pureed and soft foods the day I left the hospital. I stocked up on eggs, chicken and broth to add to it while puree, tuna fish, cottage cheese, sf jello, pudding, sf popsicles and beans.
  15. I opened my capsules and I cut the other pills in half.
  16. It could be gas. Try chewable Gas X and walk around the house. If you're lying in bed shift and turn to get the gas out. Don't forget to walk every two hours, it helps with the gas as well as help prevent blood clots. I still get my walking in. I am almost two weeks post op and I still walk around my house. Today I walked around over two hours. Good luck and I hope you feel better.
  17. Tuna with yogurt in instead of FF Mayo. Interesting. I just put FF mayo on my shopping list. I have tuna and low carb plain yogurt so I might just add the yogut to the tuna fish. Thanks for sharing. I just purchased a few cookbooks. I'm waiting for them to arrive. I'll share some ideas as well. All ideas help.
  18. Hi Missviscious, While on the liquid diet I was able to have SF popsicles, SF Jello, low carb yogurt and SF pudding and 1-8oz serving of fat free milk. Congratulations on your surgery and good luck.

    hair loss

Hello, Thanks for your post. I have very very fine hair. So much so, barretts fall out my hair. For years I've been using all kinds of products to thicken my hair but everything I use doesn't work. The product sounds interesting. Do you know if this product is good for African Americans? Thanks in advance.

    I barely drink

Yes, I do follow the no drinking at least a half hour before, during and after a meal. That is about 1.5 hours a meal. You have to make the time to drink. Set time limits and a schedule. I look at the clock and say ok, I have to drink at least 4 oz in a half hour or 20 minutes. Wait 15-20 minutes or a bathroom break, whichever comes first and do it all over again. I will literally hold my Water bottle near my mouth and sip sip sip until I think I've had enough so I don't forget. If you have to, set your timer on your cellphone and snooze every 15 minutes and when the alarm goes off get to sipping. It's not easy but good luck to you.

    June sleevers, check-in!

Same here. I might be less than 500. Sleeved 6/30. Good luck on your journey. I actually can't get to more than 500 cals in a good day..
  23. I wasn't going to be hungry so soon post op. So I've read a few, no many post where people were saying they didn't feel physical hunger until 6 months - a year after surgery. As I read those post, I kept thinking boy, I hope I'm the same way and won't feel hunger for months. Well let me tell you, I'm a week post op and I am h-u-n-g-r-y. I believe the reason I am frequently hungry is because I can only eat 1oz of food at one sitting. A few hours later, I'm hungry again. I thought it was gas bubbles and have ignored them the last couple of days. It took me to talking to another patient to realize I could actually be hungry because I wasn't eating enough. This woman's tummy allows her to eat 3 oz while mine only allows me to eat 1 oz. After giving it some thought, I realized that I'm not eating enough due to my stomach's capacity therefore was feeling hungry once my stomach is empty. Is this normal? While I was sticking to just three meals a day (basically starving myself), should I eat more frequent (1 oz. meals)? Thanks in advance for your input.
