What a great inspiration to us all - especially us newbies who are just getting started! (5/28/14)

jajmj got a reaction from Nicci829 in May 28-31st Sleeve Week!
Hello, all! It's so nice to see how everyone else is doing and what is comparable and not - to my situation. I was sleeved on the 28th. Came out of it pretty nauseous for a couple hours after. Was afraid to move - in fear of hurling! Dilaudid was my best friend. It was an instant pain fix and I knew nap time came immediately after. Yesterday before I left the hospital they changed me to lortab - which tastes like your typical cough Syrup. Nice to know that I spent $60 on my prescription bottle of it - only to not use one ounce. Pain was not really an issue. I have been pretty lucky. I am on liquid diet til my follow up appointment with my surgeon on Tuesday - then follow up with PCP on Wednesday. We will see what happens then. 5 incisions - I think they may have even used 1 or 2 from my gall bladder surgery years ago . Napping seems to be on my agenda a lot today. I am told to have 4oz of liquid every hour - can be a mixture of Water and something else - yogurt, Popsicle, whatever - as long as it's 4 oz total to keep hydrated. Pain in my lower back right side just from being o it so much I think. Otherwise: same gurgling - liquidy bm's and all your other stuff. Just can't beeline it's here and gone after all the preparation!!

Wow - great story. I like Premier Protein, especially strawberry, for Breakfast. Chilled is best. I have never found them to be clumpy, but usually give them a quick shake before opening. I get mine from costco. Now that you have a connection with the company, do let them know butterscotch and chocolate mint would be awesome...

May 28th here. Just had pre-op physical with PCP yesterday. Started liquid diet this past Sunday. So far, so good. Haven't chewed anyone's arm or head off yet. Ha ha ha. liquid diet for me is Protein Shakes, Dannon lite & fit vanilla Greek yogurt, sugar free pudding, diluted Tomato Soup, chicken broth and cream of wheat. YEAH!! Now it starts where the excitement and anticipation is making it hard to sleep at night. Anyone need a surgery buddy for support?

I know - it's funny how people feel so bad for us - ha! I tell them, "I have to get used to this as this is my new life" then they feel a little better. I have been around plenty of food and not having problems. We'll see Sunday when I take two nieces to a movie as I told them I can "watch them eat popcorn" - ha ha. During my classes - we were given a comparison chart that listed different types of chewable multi Vitamins and what all they contained. And for each one - if we took that specific one - what other Vitamins we'd have to take in order to make the most of it. That was the one that you just need four of them a day and everything else is good. I don't want to become a pill popper if I don't have to. Cannot believe it's day 6 of liquid - which only means one thing - 5 days till surgery!!

Well - here we are at day 5 of the liquid diet. Dilluted Tomato Soup never tasted so good. I have to admit - it has been easier than I anticipated. I STILL haven't chewed anyone's arms or heads off - so that's a good sign. It's amazing the amount of support you get from people in your life. barbbcute - i THINK i added you as a friend - but being a newbie on here - I guess we'll see if it worked.
6 days and counting - we can say, "Wednesday is our surgery" - yikes!!!!
I have found that the Multivitamins from Bariatric fusion are the best. They seem to have everything in them that we need so we aren't taking 15 pills a day. If you need information - please let me know. If you've never ordered from Bariatric Choice before - I can email you information and you can get money off your first order!! (of course, I get a little off mine as well!!) Let's help each other out here. I know I have had the best experience here in Omaha and they have been awesome with providing information - so ask away!!

    Hey Jajmj!
I can sure use a surgery buddy and I am sure the others feel the same way! I had to laugh at your comment of not chewing anyone's arm or head off. I have noticed I have been a "wee bit" crabby the last couple of days probably due to the diet change. My doctor had a "mandatory" pre-op nutrition class that I went to. It was very informative and gave me more of a medical appreciation for why they have us do the liquid diet. It is really for our benefit so I guess it makes me more compliant.
Hoping for an easy recovery for all of us! And lots of success!

I totally had the same thing, except they didn't tell me ahead of time!! LOL maybe the anticipation is worse? You can and WILL get through it! Then you'll drink that contrast dye for your leak test like it's freaking nectar of the gods!! Hahaha
