My New Life Starts Wednesday, June 25th
You should be able to have all the foods you love again...eventually, just in much smaller amounts. I know my surgery is a ways off but my innerself keeps asking me "Are you sure you can't just do this with dieting alone? Do you really need surgery to lose weight?" It seems like it should be so simple -- eat less and healthier and move more but I have been down that path sooo many times and it has not worked. You will do fantastic tomorrow. Good luck to those of you having surgery on the 25th and I hope you have a quick and easy recovery

What's one thing you hope to enjoy after you've lost the weight?
I want to be able to go kayaking! Also, I want to be in pictures with my family - I have avoided being in pictures for years because of my weight.

Help, I dont want to tell my boss
I went into this thinking that I would not tell anyone other than the people who live in my house. Now I find myself going back and forth....it's no one else's business but I really don't want to lie to anyone. I want to be up front with everyone but I don't want the judgement and the constant questions. I would like to think they will be more accepting than what, in my mind, I am giving them credit for. I have a lot of time to make up my mind what I want to do as my surgery wont be until November or maybe December. The boss thing is a problem because the boss is my neice lol. Life is never boring is it?

AM I CRAZY!
You are not crazy. I think most everyone who has undergone WLS has had second, third, and probably fourth thoughts lol. For me the dangers of surgery versus the dangers of being obese, with Diabetes Type II, and possibly now hypertension....I think the odds are pretty good for the surgery winning out over staying obese. It is a choice each individual has to make for themselves. You need to make the decision that feels right to you

86% will regain the weight they lost after WLS
Thank you all for your replies! I will definitely ask her about this when I have my next appointment. I will then decide if it is worth my time to continue seeing her or if I will need to find a new nutritionist. You all have made very valid points and I am just swimming in information overload on so many levels...trying to absorb everything and learn all that I can. It's a very exciting time for all of us new people So thanks again and I am so happy I found this site!

Ex-Friend Keeps Writing Negatively About Me on Different Blogs and Web Sites
She is a very unhappy person and it appears she wants everyone around her to be unhappy also. Be good to yourself and do what is good for you! It's hard to let go of a friend but you have to wonder if she was ever really your friend to begin with...friends don't treat each other like that imo. Good luck with your journey and don't let her put any more negativity in your life.

86% will regain the weight they lost after WLS
Yes, she did say 86.something% regain their weight. I checked with my husband who was there with me. I realized you would probably gain a few pounds back when everything was said and done and that is why most people seem to want to lose 10-20 lbs more than their final goal weight - just to have some wiggle room. Thanks to all of you for your helpful replies. I am just determined to make this work for me. I WILL NOT be one of the ones that gain all my weight back. I am ready to be healthier and lose this weight permanently. I hope everyone has a great weekend.

86% will regain the weight they lost after WLS
This is what the nutritionist told me when I met with her "About 86% of people who lose weight with WLS will regain". Is there any way that number is correct? If that is true why do so many people continue to go through with these surgeries? Of course I said "I won't be one of those because I want and need this sooo much." I am assuming those 86% said the same thing... Do you think that many people actually lose their weight just to gain it back? That is very discouraging to hear. Have you all heard those same statistics?
