  1. My 40's are fantastic. I never have felt this happy and relaxed in life. I'm almost to my surgery goal. I'm jogging in 10k's , snowshoeing and just overall enjoying the hell out of life. Trying to experience so many things that I let myself miss out on. So bring on the 50's !
  2. Ok ladies. I have spent years of hiding from mirrors and cameras. Being obese I dressed in things to hide my body. I'm 7months out and 110 pounds down. I'm now struggling to find what looks good at my age. I'm in my 40's. I don't want to look like a woman desperately trying to be young. I have no clue what age appropriate is in 2015. I'm trying to keep it classy. Any good web sites for women my age?
  3. I am genuinely sad for the place I was at before. I feel more compassion for me and all of my faults. I am still finding out who I am. I would like to think I'm beautiful inside and out.
  4. When you're husband takes you to Victoria's Secret and you walk out with size small pantie's.
  5. Weight loss seems to be stair steps. As everyone has said you are in the norm. The stall will break.
  6. I have been married for over 20 years. We have a solid relationship before wls. I'm always amazed that he has been my biggest cheerleader. He has always believed in me. He is letting me spread my wings and fly. Yes, he has had some insecure moments. He has told me the weight loss is nice but to have me happy and involved in my life is a greater thing. We are like teenagers again. Yesterday he asked me to marry him again. This has been positive for our marriage.
  7. Have you tried a stool softer? Its not as harsh as a laxative. Check with you're doctor to see if it allowed. Seems that each doctor has different requirements.
  8. @@MeAndTinyTina i never liked working out before surgery. It was always a chore. Now I'm up for doing anything! I work out regularly, I'm active in community event's. Just loving life. I'm amazed at what this surgery has done for so many people. Keep up doing the things you enjoy. you are doing fantastic.
  9. @@proudgrammy Snowshoeing and a soak in a natural hot spring is next. Loving winter.
  10. I have a good work out routine. I'm up to an hour of cardio and an hour of weight lifting. I have not lost muscle with my weight loss. I have gained muscle. Get you're Protein in. Best of luck to you' jenn
  11. Off my bucket list~! Christmas 10K 2014
  12. I have always worn a sweater or jacket to hide my body(even in the summer) I now no longer need to hide.
  13. Now that I have lost 81% of my weight. I thought I would give a drink a try. I ordered a skinny girl drink of the menu. It was a citrus drink (sugar free) but with a shot of vodka. I had a few sips. I now realize what others on the board were talking about when they say low tolerance level...Oh my it caught me off guard. For me It's a once in a while treat. I really don't like the way it makes me feel.
  14. I worked into it. I was defiantly not a runner/jogger before surgery. I started with walking. I started jogging on a treadmill in November. On Thanksgiving I did my first 5k. Jogging on the road feels much different. Motivation for me is to Finnish and to push myself to beat my own time. I'm on to a Christmas 10K on December 20th.
  15. You fell off the plan...the good thing is that you can hop back on... I found this on the web. Thought I would share it. For some people, eating is a way to cope with emotions. It can often serve as a sort of “numbing mechanism” in order to avoid feeling certain painful emotions. After bariatric surgery, this can be a painful and unhealthy coping mechanism. You should know that breaking the pattern of eating in response to stress, frustration, or sadness is possible. Identifying the Emotion When you experience a strong emotion that leads you to food, stop and identify the emotion you are experiencing. You may open the refrigerator and realize that you feel sad or angry rather than hungry. Ask for Help When You Need It Breaking the connection between emotions and food can be difficult. If you feel overwhelmed or out of control, attend a support group meeting or contact your bariatric program’s mental health professional. These two resources can help you identify what’s causing the emotion and provide you with strategies and alternatives to eating.
  16. I sold my treadmill on craigslist and bought a gym membership. my gym offers so much that I'm entertained all the time and don't get board. Besides cardio and weight lifting. I kayaked at the gym for my first birthday after surgery. For winter I'm off to a snow shoeing/ Natural hot springs soak trip with other gym members. Many community events that I love. I jogged the turkey day 5K. Dec 20th I have the YMCA Christmas 10K. Find activities you enjoy. Try not to make your workout a chore make it fun.
  17. I like the body spanx that are one piece and drop below your bust line. I like to wear my own bra. I don't think I can afford plastics. So this has been a good option to hold the loose skin. The only people to see me O natural are me the hubby and the occasional Dr.
  18. The staff at the hospital had me walking laps around the surgery floor the day after surgery. I think it helped me to bounce back and heal. After I was home small walks until I felt better. Start slow and build your exercise up as you progress. Best of luck to you, Jenn
  19. Bartender carded me then he bought me a drink...Things that have never happened to me before. I'm an old fart
  20. Fantastic find. Thanks for sharing. Can't believe its less than $6. I found my lap top lunch box online. Its similar to a Asian bento box. Small portions and easy meals on the go. http://www.laptoplunches.com/
  21. @@Katcloudshepherd, This post really touched my heart. You have so much love for you're husband.I hope you will find the strength to battle this challenge in life. I will keep you both in my thoughts and prayers. Wishing many good things to come you're way in the new year, Jenn
  22. @@Elode is so right. I second that
  23. @@Pr33ty Heard Protein, protein and protein Lean meats and veggies. Try to stay away from carbs. (No breads, rice and pasta). Drink a lot of water/crystal light. If you don't mind me asking...Why do you have less than a month to loose 15 to 20 pounds?
  24. @@Rubygirl Like you and most of us here. I have failed at every diet. You're sleeve is an amazing tool. The change is not just a surgical procedure. A lot of it is mental/behavior change. Following the program: For me I could never maintain all the diet plans that I have tried. My sleeve has made a big difference. This is NOT another diet. Being scared of failing is not necessarily a bad thing. Use it to keep your mind on task. Only you can make the changes to get the results you want out of this. I hope you find what inspires and motivates you to success. The pain is temporary...the results are amazing! Jenn
