Hardest behavior for you to change?
I'm a water drinker. I looooooove my water. I drink heaps and heaps of it. Not drinking during meals or directly after has definitely been the hardest physical challenge for me. To get around this, I try to plan my meals for when I have to do something straight afterwards. Ie, I eat breakfast (if I have it) right before I have to leave the house. That way, by the time I get to the office, enough time has passed for me to drink. I have my lunch, then go for a walk. At dinner, I'll have a bath afterwards or clean the kitchen .. anything that keeps me busy for long enough to where when I finish, I can drink.

Help ME DANCE!!!
Oh oh .. back in the day I was the 2 step queen lol. This was like in high school though. Definitely go for a few private lessons. It will so boost your self confidence. 2 step is easy and its one of those dances where its nearly impossible to look like a clutz, thankfully, as I have no rhythm whatsoever lol. Kathy, I'd love to be able to dance to black eyed peas and the like, but again, have no rhythm so just sit and bob my head lol. Desperately want to learn how to do some of the newer dance stuff to go clubbing once in a while...

How will Dad's banding affect overweight children?
My 8 yo daughter has always been a chubby kid, but over the holidays, she spent two months in the states with my parents. In that time, she stacked on 10 lbs!! On her lil 4 ft tall frame that was a massive amount. She had been eating healthy with me up until that point. When I told her after she got home that it was back to healthy eating, she made the comment of, "Why can't I just have a surgery like you?" I think kids, or atleast my kid, doesn't mind doing it, as long as they don't know they're doing it. Ie, she's happy to go kick the soccer ball or ride the bike, as long as I don't tell her its exercise. She's happy to eat veggie fritatta for dinner, as long as I don't tell her its loaded with nutrients and 95% fat free... Good luck

In Pain and Feeling Stupid... need advice
It would be a good idea to go back on liquids for 24/48 hours. If in doubt, call your doctor's office.

How has it changed you?
Apart from a bit more self confidence regarding body image stuff, I don't feel the band has changed me, as a person. I've been overweight for a large majority of my life. I've often thought, as I'm sure many others have, "Oh, when I lose weight, everything will be better." Unfortunately, this is simply not true in my case. I was thinking about it today, actually. I'm 7kgs away from my original goal weight. That's not a very large amount. I still look in the mirror when I'm naked and think, Ewww! Will I feel different after those 7kgs? Probably not. Will I feel different after a tummy tuck and breast reduction? Again, probably not. Alot of the issues we deal with are in our heads. As many a bandster has said, if only they could band the head as well. As for me, I've decided to see a psychologist regarding these issues, because I now know that losing weight will not make me the person I want to be. Oh, I'm still extremely glad I got the band and that I've had the success I've had so far with it. After I fix my head, I'm gonna have one killer body to go along with it LOL.

The spoon theory
Thanks for that, Crystal. My grandmother has lupus .. was just diagnosed year before last. Its hereditary so its something I have worried about more than once. That story definitely has me understanding more what her life must be like ...

antidepressants/psych meds?
I do not currently, or ever have, taken any kind of anti depressent or psych medications. I've often wondered if I need to .. but that would take a visit to the doctor lol, and mean I'd have to talk to someone about it. I have alot of anxiety and self-esteem issues to deal with, as well as bouts of depression. It runs in the family. I just started seeing a therapist last week, for the first time in my life. I'm also getting back into meditation. I'm hoping that these two things together, can help me resolve some of my issues without the need for medication. That said, I am also seeing my GP this week to determine if hormonal/chemical changes due to weight loss could be the cause of some of my recent issues.

Yesterday, I had to go to the pet store to get some hay for my bunny. While at the shopping centre, I thought I'd try on a few pairs of jeans, just to see if I could find any I like. Went to 3 different stores. In every one, I was able to fit into a couple of their size 14's! That's a 12 in US sizes!! I danced the happy dance lol. The last time I could wear a size 12 US, I was in my senior year of high school .. and even then they didn't fit comfortably (yesterday they did).

Have the types of food you crave changed?
Recently, I've realized that when I do get a craving for something, its generally something healthier .. ie, instead of craving chips or pizza, I might crave a bit of tuna, or a salad, or two crackers with cheese. Where I used to would crave chocolate, now I crave grapes or watermelon or the like. I've also found it alot easier lately, when order at a restuarant, to order the grilled salmon or the salad. Used to I would struggle, wanting instead the chicken parma, laden with cheese and a mound of fries .. or the fish in chips, still dripping with grease from the vat lol. Now those don't even sound good to me for some reason. Oh, I still have the very occassional day where I include chips or something if they're around .. but I don't enjoy them like I used to. Just wondering if anyone else had noticed something like this?

Body Image Issues
I'm pretty sure I too, will always suffer from body image issues. I am seeing a psychologist (only just started) regarding this, anxiety issues and self esteem crap. My hubby hears it all the time too and reckons that weightloss is my newest obsession. I've just finished a book on tape, called, When food is Love that was quite good. Its about compulsive eating/dieting. The author was an abused child, which I thankfully, can't relate to .. but alot of it really hit home. Good luck with it all ...

help! can't swallow my meds!
Ask you doctor if there's a liquid option available, or another alternative. If not, ask him if you can grind it up and perhaps put it in a spoonful of applesauce or something? Not the best taste in the world, but its what we always did at the nursing home and they survived through it lol. Good luck!

Something that has helped me...
Not silly at all! I've done the same thing I needed to lose at least 110lbs/50kgs - I've set my mini goals for 5kgs. Its definitely made it feel more achievable! You've done sooooooooo well in such a short time, Carrie - congratulations

I am really ticked off!and ripped off!!!
Francesca, while I don't have any words of wisdom to offer, know that I am thinking of you. You have every right to be pissed off. I can't imagine what I'd do if I lost my band .. but I know the scale would start moving up.

Fills...............Do they hurt ????
Doesn't hurt for me at all .. and I've never had a numbing agent. The first time is a bit uncomfortable, because you generally have yourself worked up lol. After that its a piece of cake, imho.
