  1. Congrats Angie, you are doing just great! I hope I'm half as succeful as you. The self impossed pre diet isn't going well. Even though I'm keeping my total calorie intake low....I'm not loosing weight. I actually kinda worried that after surgery it won't be any different. Yesterday I ate 900 calories. The day before only 800. Today was closer to 1000. Monday was in the 900 range. I've also decided, I don't like strawberry/bannana Jello.....YUCK. The protien powder I've chose to use is pro performance 100% whey protien...when mixed with carb countdown milk it is 210 calories and 29g protien. Can mix with Water as well (thats what I'm doing now actually for less calories and its 120 calories/ 21g protien. So far I've tried the banana creme/ french vanilla/ chocolate carmel. If you are still on liquids anyone...campbells has some great Soups in boxes....portabella mustroom (very very good) and summer squash Soup (also good). Melissa
  2. Funny we just got the official letter that he is refering his patients to Dr. Zweng yesterday. Melissa
  3. Monday lunch will work for me. (the other two would too, but I'd most likely have Karah in tow for a Tuesday dinner ...since I'd have to come straight from her dance class) Melissa
  4. I up to it...bad times for me are monday nights, tuesday late nights (could meet around 6:30 or 7 on Tuesday, but would probally have Karah with me...she is pretty good though in resturants) Sundays are just bad....and of course if its next week...LOL Thursday is BAD! Just let me know and I'll try to be there. Melissa
  5. Oct 13th here, with Dr. Bauman in Concord, NC. Starting to "nest" kinda like the last few weeks of pregnancy...lol. I've been organizing, planing, making lists...you'd think I'd be leaving hubby in charge for more than a day. LOL Anyone else doing this as an outpatient? Melissa
  6. Her surgery was at 730 this morning. Melissa
  7. Glad to hear it went good...I'm doing the last pizza, cake meal tonight (daughters birthday party) then I'm doing the 2 liquid meals, light 3rd meal diet of my own invention till surgery LOL So right behind ya Starr. Let us know how you are feeling when you get home. Melissa
  8. Good to see you are home and being "spunky" lol. Don't worry Starr you will be just fine, you will see. I'm in "nesting' mode. I've been doing stuff I hate...like matting the basket of socks in the laundry room. Cleaning out the closests, making sure the kids have their clothes organized so hubby and grandpa can find things. But I'm not really nervous about the surgery....but jittery like. I'm teaching the next two sundays for sunday school, just trying to stay busy. Will be thinking about you Friday Starr....believe me I think you will be feeling better than I friday. Kristen is having a sleepover 6 13-14 year old girls....can we say LOUD. Melissa
  9. oh gosh, now you are making me nervous...staying another night....I'm not even going to be staying one night. I'm glad that Diane is feeling better. Look out star...you are next . Melissa
  10. Your insurance is a good one...so I'm sure it will get approval...so no worries, just keep on the pcp to get the info in though. Melissa
  11. Anyone talked to or heard how Diane is doing? Melissa
  12. I too had a great time. And Kathy thanks for the clothes. I can actually get those jeans on and zipped but they aren't very comfortable . In a couple of weeks, maybe by next time we meet. Well gotta run, got the 5 year old giving me lists of stuff to do. melissa
  13. Hey Iluvsammies....I think I might have emailed you or talked to you about sammy puppies a couple of years ago. I ended up getting a sammy and he will be three this year. The kids are begging to get him a friend, but I don't think I have another spot on my lap for another 70lb dog . Maybe after I loose weight? LOL Melissa

Oh and check out our sept 24th meeting...you are more than welcome to join us. Its nothing formal, just a group of us from nc area getting together and chatting over lunch. Welocme to the board. Melissa
  15. I have soccer till 10:00 am..helping coach....I need to run her home and maybe change, depending on hot saturday morning is. Kristen is babysitting since paul is out of town, but anytime after say 11:00 is good for me. Melissa
  16. Diane, You have my phone number girl.....give me a call next time you feel the itch to talk. I know I have called poor Kim enough venting. Thats what all of us are here for to help each other through things. I'm doing a self impossed juice fast today and tomorrow...so I might be on the cranky side the next two days myself. Melissa
  17. Like the others, I say...don't become a stranger....stop in and visit sometimes just to let us know how you are doing. Maybe I'll see you at some of Dr. Bauman's meetings. (I wish they weren't always tuesdays) Best wishes on your decision to have the rny. Dr. Bauman actually does his a bit different it seems (he thought I was rny at first when I saw him and was explaining this). After talking to him I have no doubt you will be in good hands. Melissa
  18. Not all that fast...started officially back in April. But since moving to Dr. Baumans office its when fast. Most of that is because I had all my ducks already lined up, I only had a few things additional to get done for them. Their program does seem a bit stricter as far as monitoring and such...but I think that is going to work to my advantage. I think I'm going to have to tell my mother in law, as she is planning to visit sometime around my surgery to go to the rein faire. Ah well I now have a nice spifey computer program for her to watch...so all is good. Melissa
  19. I have my date, with Dr. Bauman. Its October 13th...so I'm not that far behind you ladies. I loved their office and the staff was just great. And they kept saying things like.....I'll take care of "........." today. I was like wow, today! hehehe. I have my prescrips to get filled before surgery and my hosptial check in scheduled. And it looks like I won't have to stay overnight. Which is great news. I am going to stop letting people measure my height though soon....I keep shrinking...sigh. Melissa
  20. I actually sold my treadmill I had at home to pay my surgeons evaluation fee and first nutrition visit. It seems kinda of irnoic to some....I'm opting to have weight loss surgery but selling my exercise equipment to do it. But it isn't really since like Rose, I don't exercise very well at home on my own. I NEED the accountability of going to the gym. I make myself go every morning after dropping the kids off....even if I don't feel like it. 9 times out of 10...once I'm there...i'll do my whole 1.5 -2 hour workout. Today was just one of those days it didn't happen. I think I'm nervous about meeting the new surgeon tomorrow or something because I had the worse yucky stomachy feeling today...so I cut myself some slack and only did 35 minutes on the treadmill. I think I'm going to try to get back into spinning after surgery...because I think I got the best workout from that. Melissa
  21. I'm big into exercise...but over the summer months my routine isn't the same and well the workout usually suffers. The little one LOVES going to the gym, she gets to play with her friends. The oldest hates it...and I begged and begged her to go this summer. Ah well. Today was just a cardio day so no weights today. I did a class called Zumba...its alot of fun. Too bad its only once a week. Then I did 40 minutes on the elliptical, so total I did 1 hour and 40 minutes of cardio. My heart rate got a bit high some of the time in Zumba..some of the songs are pretty fast tempo and high energy stuff. I wear a heart rate monitor when I'm exercising just to make sure I stay in the right "zone". When I do weights which is usually 4 days a week, I can usually keep my heart rate in the zone most of that time too. Going to try interval training soon, one of the trainers at the gym swears by it. Will have to let you all know how that goes. I did spin class for a while in the spring. I really liked it, but was a bit intimidated by some of the more "athletic" participants. But it really is a fun class. Pilates is also great....I did it 2 times a week for a few months about a year ago, and noticed a difference in how I felt over all. The instructor left that I liked so I haven't gotten back into it yet. But recently bought a dvd to do at home. Another fun exercise, that will cause your kids to make fun of you is dance dance revolution. Its a video game, you can get it on playstation and xbox...but you have a pad with arrows on that you dance ...or in my case stomp on. Most of the games have a workout mode too, so you don't even have to be good at it, but it will tell you how many calories you have burned and such. I liked it so much that I bought a metal pad. Anyway...I love to exercise...I'm hoping when i get my band it will help me control how many calories I consume...that combined with my exercise regimine I have GOT to loose weight! Melissa
  22. Not likely they already switched me over to Dr. Bauman. Congrats. Melissa
  23. From what they told me they were waiting for Dr. V to be back in the office this week, but he is going to be making professional referals for his patients to other local doctors. I believe he will be refering all of the lapband patients to Dr. Bauman. I've actually already scheduled a consult with Dr. Bauman and had the additional blood work done that his practice requires. Waiting on a call back from his nutritionist. (additional blood work was fe studies (iron), vit D 25 h, and b-12. I do know he charges a consult fee, but insurance reinburses that. The nutritionist from what I understand is once a month for a year and cost 500, which can be made in payments. You will have to go to Doctor V's office and sign a release so they can send your records there. You will most likely have to go seperately to the psychologist and ask to have your records fowarded. From what I understand there is another Doctor in charlotte that does the lapband too, but I couldn't find any thing on him when I did research....other than I did find that his practice is looking to hire a surgeon that specializes in baratric surgery. I don't know where Pinhurst is, but that doctor is listed on NC doctors on obesityhelp.com. I really wish more doctors would do the lapband, and this wouldn't be such a issue. I think if I had of wanted rny surgery...I would have already been done...thats sad. Melissa
  24. Since I now have copies of all my evaulations I got to read what everyone said. Mixed reviews on that. LOL Not sure I liked what the nutritionist implied about my weight training, but hey the psychologist thought I was pretty well balanced, so my obsession about getting a surgery date wtih some doctor soon is most like a perfectly healthy thing. LOL I went to a meeting tonight with people I hadn't seen since May, boy were they shocked to see I had gained weight and not lost. Ah well...soon soon. Since you are not going to be there on the 24th angie you need to post a picture so when we meet in October we will know who to look for! Your weight loss numbers are great. Melissa

I still think I would ask to remove the gall bladder first and see how you feel after that. Leave all the Fluid out of your band for awhile give yourself a rest. It's awesome that you have lost 140lbs, that doesn't sound like it isn't working! And I would really resist the rny until they can tell you whats happening. Because if it continues after the rny its much harder to reverse, and then you are stuck with MAJOR surgery. I can't see how the band would keep pills from digesting...they need to find a reason for that before they go willy nilly taking things that they "think" might cause it...especially with no proof that anythign is amiss with your band. Of course I'm no doctor...lol, and I don't even have the band yet. But as hard as I'm fighting to get the darn thing, I'd fight even harder to keep it....especially with 140lbs lost...wow you go girl! Melissa
