  1. I went ahead and did my measurements...I've lost 5 inches off my chest, waist and hips....since it seems to be the same everywhere...wonder if thats why I can't see it in the mirror. I tell you what I can see....flabby flab. I really think thats what got me so depressed and off the wagon before when I lost 50lbs on weight watchers. At least fat, my fat was firm..now I'm all jiggly wiggly and no boobies...lol. I also checked my goal list that I have...so far I've marked off two things as done 1) giving up carbonation 2) getting into the jeans Kathy gave me and being able to breath at the same time....they are actually getting big....sigh and they are such cool jeans. LOL When I was in china town I bought me an oriental shirt....its like as size 4x and doesn't fit....I know the sizing is off...but that doesn't help the ego either! I bought Kristen one too, and it looks so good on her (not 4x) I really want to be able to wear mine....guess I'll add it to the goals. I tried the technique where you stand in the mirror and try to find something good about your body...so far...I like my wrist don't have much to say about the rest of me. Diane I think its great that you are being so positive...hopefully I will snap out of my what did Kathy call it Frumpy state soon and join you. And its great to see Kathy is snapping out of it. Kathy I think its a great idea to do a little individual shot of us all at our monthly meetings...everyone bring a camara...and we can use it to take your picture. Or if you don't have a digital camara some of the rest of us can take one for you. You girls are great..and I hate that I seem to be moaning and groaning all the time recently. Melissa
  2. Oh moving around with the band has got to suck. Yeah it sounds like if you really want to use the same doc everytime your best bet might be Mexico...and who knows maybe you can make it a romanic weekend trip. Good luck, and so sorry to hear about your base closing and having to move again. Melissa
  3. You've been so patient...and I really don't think calling them once a month to "check-in" is that big a deal. I'll keep my fingers crossed for you. I really hope no more "crud" happens here....I don't think I can take it. I'm tired of fighting the child to get her medicine in (still has a few more days to go on that) I'm tired of coughing so hard I pee my pants. :embarassed: And if hubby gets sick...oh gawd the world will end. If the oldest gets it and has to miss school she is sure to fail, she can't seem to get it together when she is there much less if she missed. Kim, how is curtis feeling today? Hope he is on the mend. I really really want to get a fill scheduled next week...I'm feeling like a failure weight loss wise. The only way I've lost weight in the last two months is to get sick. And we all know that comes back as soon as you start eating again. I'm getting rather discouraged, I'm going to have to own up to that with the nutritionist I guess. :star: I feel like people are looking at me going..."you had wls...how come you haven't lost more weight" The drawback of having a big mouth and telling EVERYONE. I can't even see it in pictures. Was looking at the pictures from San Fran....I look as fat as ever. I think when we have our meetings I need to get one of you girls to take a picture of me with my camara...at least I"d have a month by month then. I still find myself trying to hide from the camaras or trying to figure out how to hold my head so I look less fat. It's pathetic. I know at least something is happening since I can get in smaller jeans...but at the same time my mind says stuff like...oh thats because those jeans are lower waist...or those jeans are stretchy...or those jeans are a different brand...ya get the picture.:help: Geez didn't really mean to right a book! Going back to bed now to try to knock this thing out TODAY!:sick:notagree These new smilelys are funny...here is kim and her new washer and dryer..... Melissa
  4. Yes, but yours is much healthier. I'm going to try to eat more today...going to eat some bland things like cheese and Beans I think..not sure I want to try anything too adventurous. Melissa
  5. I've got everyone beat today LOL ...course I had to be sick to do it . B: hot tea L: cold tea and 5 fries (my medicine said take with food) d: cold tea...thought thinking of trying some potato dumplings hubby made.
  6. Sorry that curtis isn't feeling well. Watch him closely...don't let it turn into anything worse. I'm so paranoid now. It's great your doctor sees them on the first day of a fever. Our pediatrician usually doesn't seem them to day 3 of a fever, especially this time of year. Tomorrows the big day for Karah, she is heading back to school...hopefully she will stay there all day lol. I went to the doctor and mine is broncitis (sp) he gave me big horse pills to take. Glad I haven't had a fill yet huh. The dog had to stay over night with the vet, not serious...they just want to bathe him and maybe cut his fur some. And it takes all day to dry our furball. All these doctor visits and prescriptions are starting to suck...nice of United Heathcare to increase the copays huh. Paul made potato dumplings, the smell good, I might try to eat some. Haven't been doing the eating thing. Melissa
  7. Karah appears to be better. Paul is taking her to the doctor tomorrow for a follow up. She is eating like a pig, which is a good sign. She had lost 2lbs Friday when I had her in. I'm sick now...lol, 102 temp for two days, coughing up a lung, I'm so tired right now but can't rest. I even suffered thera flu....man is that stuff nasty. I didn't eat anything yesterday except some chicken broth and a cheese stick. Not going to worry much about logging right now. Had to postpone my nutrition appointment till next week...which really sucks because I was hopping she would schedule a fill. The dog also has done something to his tail. Paul took him in yesterday afternoon, but it was so painful that they gave the dog pain killers and sedatives and he goes back in tomorrow so they can put him to sleep and shave him to see if they can figure outs whats up. The dog is literally a big 66 lb white rug right now with a huge cone around his head. Thats it for now, but thats plenty...our luck has got to change soon right? Melissa
  8. Defientlly get some birth control going. Women become more fertile apparently if they loose weight. I had just lost 50lbs when I got pregnant with my second. And on flylady, i don't get the emails.....my life is too cluttered and stressed right now for that. I will just stick with the few ideas I've picked up from the website for now. When I get a handle on that stuff maybe I'll scoop out more ideas. Melissa
  9. Well didn't do to bad this morning....blew it at dinner. Chinese takeout...need I say more? Oh and the popcorn to go with the movies we rented to entertain Karah. I was fine until after the doctor visit....I defiently think I have a stress eating habit to get a handle on. Stress eaters...give me some coping pointers...cause otherwise I'm going to drive myself nutty and gain anything I lose. Melissa
  10. Keep moving Angie, I'm sure it will help. Glad to see you are on the mend. Update on Karah: took her back to the doctor today. She still has crackle and wheezing in her left lung so he switched her to a new anitbiotic. This one cost me 58...I about had a heart attack. The pharmacist warned me before he filled it, and I was like, well gotta have it anyway. Thankfully I could afford it, but I remember a time when 58 might not of been in my budget...and thats with insurance...how do people that don't have insurance or have lower incomes do it? Anyway...end of rant. She goes back Tuesday to recheck, they will do xrays then again if needed. The doctor also told me not to worry too much about fevers under 100, apparently children can fluctuate normally temp wise. I'm glad I took her in though, at least we found out the antibiotic wasn't working. Going to try to keep her quiet this weekend and hopfully she will be able to return to school next week. Her class all sent her get well cards today, it was so sweet and it made Karah smile. She has missed her friends so much. She has literally been begging to go to school. Melissa
  11. You know what happen shortly after I decided to let go of all the baby stuff? I got pregnant again. But you are right, even if you have another, the stuff you have now if its more than a few years is totally unsafe. LOL It's amazing how the cribs we slept in are considered death traps now. But also, part of the excitment of having a baby I think is shopping for the new baby stuff. The thing to do would be to take all the baby stuff to a resell shop (once upon a child) and sell it to them, then put the money in an account to put towards new stuff later. I need to take a few things there myself right now....just been too lazy and unorganized to do it. Its on my todo list though. Congrats on your upcoming surgery date. Melissa
  12. Thats great Kim that you don't have to have anything done to the port right now. That's one of my biggest fears having to go back to surgery for something. We all know what Kim's going to be doing this weekend...laundry...LOL. What kind did you get? We bought the front loading ones when we bought this house and really like them. Though Paul would love the have the Neptune...we couldn't afford that at the time because we were having to buy so many appliances at once. Did anyone ever get dance dance revolution? If so...how do you like it? Waiting on the doctor to call back about Karah. Her fever this week has been low grade (lower than 101) and she only had a slight fever once yesterday. But her cough is horrible. She wanted to sleep with me last night. And I don't think I slept very much because her cough was so bad, she can't be resting much. Her jeans are all really baggy on her (she has lost more than me the last 2 weeks) and I can't get her to eat more than a couple of bites of anything. She finished her antibiotic yesterday and I think I want them to just check her out to make sure she doesn't need more. She has missed two weeks of school already. I really wish my dad had of taken her back earlier in the week, but I told him to use his judgement, and he felt she was on the mend....and she is...its just seems awful slow. Melissa
  13. Going to try to do this daily now, now that I don't have the excuse of eating out every meal. Going to count my protien too, not sure I'm getting enough in. friday 9/13 B: decaf coffee w/8 oz of ff milk (8) protien s: string cheese (9) L: 1 cup low carb soup (8) Kim you have been doing great about posting. Melissa
  14. Glad to hear that you are home and doing well. Get some rest and take it easy. Melissa
  15. My dad did hang Karah's canopy for me...so one thing off my list. He also rehung her picture in here room mumbling something about its not suppouse to lean out from the wall. LOL I have to work tomorrow, but really want to try and tackle the sink this weekend...or maybe Monday or Tuesday since the kids are out. Melissa
  16. Anyone heard how Angie is? Is she home yet? How's she feeling? Kim will anything have to be done about the port, or is it a wait and see type of thing? Got home about 7:30 am this morning, and had to take Kristen to school and such. Karah stayed home today, but didn't have a fever anytime I took it...so I might send her to school tomorrow. She defiently wants to go. I'm dead tired right now only got about and hour of sleep on the plane..it was a full flight and everyone was taking their suitcases on instead of checking them. So ended up having to put my laptop bag under the seat in front of me, so there was no place for my feet. And the person sitting beside me took up the arm rest so was pratically sitting on my hip. I did get a bit of a nap this morning...during fariytopia...Karah woke me up to tell me the movie was over. I think I'm going to encourage an early bedtime tonight. Melissa
  17. Kim I got all excited about a vacum cleaner and kept watching for the ups guy to deliver it. I even had karah excited, to the point when the ups guy finally came she was standing at the door chanting "its the vacum its the vacum" Needless the say the ups guy thought we were a bit crazy. Kathy I hope everything goes well with your dad. My dad has had two cysts removed on his neck apparently caused by glands or something. It was a relativly easy outsurgery type of thing....I'm sure he will be fine. Karen I hope you are feeling better, are you excited about the new department? Diane I might go to a therapist if I could think of them as my friend. I have really only gone with Kristen to her therapists and I didn't feel very comfortable with it. Today I went to de young musem, saw the pacific ocean, went to the asian tea garden and had tea in the tea house. I also went to the Legion of honor, and walked down clemont street (some cool stores and resturants there) and went to the japanese market and culture center. (basically it was a mall like thing with tons of Japanese resturants, and stores selling asian antiques and gifts. For dinner we rode the trolly out to Fishermans Wharf and had dinner at Seafood resturant there. Pricey...pricey...pricey, we blew the expense account on one meal...actually we went over! I bought the girls some shirts. It's calling for rain tomorrow so will probally go to the macworld expo exhibit floor. According to my husband there is tons of cool apple stuff to buy (he has been talking apple all week...hehehehe) and try to get tot he asian art musuem. I have to be at the airport around 9pm san fransico time tomorrow, thats like 12 our time. I should get home around 7am on Thursday. I'll probally need to take Karah back to the doctor since she is still running a fever when the motrin wears off. meanwhile off to get som sleep. Melissa
  18. first I tried to chat up food journal talk, then I went and posted my food journal in the charlotte talk. LOL You guys can go fuss at me later. It sounds like everyone else is eating better than me. I have got to get into the groove. I really think i need a fill desperatly. Today: B: sugar free/skim latte b: a pastry from bakery in china town l: in an out burger single, about 6 fries d: 4 pieces of sushi, miso soup, 3-4 salmon snack during the day 1/2 of a luna "nuts over choclate" bar Melissa
  19. Yes I made it to San Fran. My daughter though is making me feel quilty as heck. She is still out of school sick. Though her fever isn't going as high as it was...only up to like 100 now. They call me every time she refuses to take her medicine so i can try to convience her. Tonight she was begging me to come home, I felt so bad. I'm having fun other than that, and getting lots of exercise in. I'm been to the embaraggo (sp), Fisherman wharf, China town, the modern art museum (I'm not cultured enough for it obviously) Castro and Union Square. We took a bay cruise on Sunday, and then bought coats (we left them at the hotel and were freezing to death with the breeze.) Tomorrow I'm going to the bridge, the japanese tea garden and the legion of honor and the de young museum. If I get back towards the hotel side of town before paul get out I'll go to the asian art museum. Today for Breakfast I ate some type of pastry from a bakery in china town, it was good. I tried in and out burgers and it was alright, I couldn't eat it all...and zacks in charlotte has it beat. Then for dinner we went to a sushi bar. Right next to our hotel is a HUGE old navy and I went in there tonight on the way back from dinner. I got a size 18 jeans...and they were only 7.00. Well I think the time change is finally catching up with me, going to head off to sleep. I'm having fun but my feet are killing me. Hope you ladies had fun at lunch today. Melissa
  20. Yesterday was more stress eating I'm afraid for me. I ate a slice of ham and 2 of the Cookies (they are alll gone now thank goodness) for breakfast. At lunch I had baked fries (my excuse is that i was enticing Karah to eat) and half of a hamburger. dinner I was a little bit better I had salmon, some peas with pearl onions and a small salad. Oh...and when I had to go out to pick up Kristen at school, karah asked for and ice cream at McD's...so of course all three of us had one. She was still running a fever as of last night, and I feel like a bad mom for even entertaining the idea of still going on my trip. The thing is....she acts like she is fine and wants to do everything thing that she normally does, she is just running a huge fever and hacking up her lungs while she does it. I've got her taken her anitibiotics, I was really the fever would be gone or at least lower by now. Currently I'm waiting on the motrien to wear off to see ifher fever comes back again, if it does I'm calling the doctor back. Melissa
  21. Can you come put away my decorations properly and hang MY daughters canopy...hehehe and while your at it, take apart the old toddler bed that is taking up all the availble space in her room? LOL This is what I got accomplished today: Cleanned out kitchen cabnients of food no one will eat. Folded all the clothes that was piled ontop of the washer and dryer. (that was about 4-5 loads) Still gotta fold whats in the washer and dryer now...pledge to do that before bed. Deflated the christmas blow up thing in the front yard (the only house in the neighborhood that still had something up and lit. Organized stuff to donate versus stuff to take to once upon a child. Things I want to get accomplished soon: Clean out unused makeup, nailpolish and hair crap from under the girls bathroom sink and toss. Go through kristen's clothes with her and get rid of the things that she just won't wear or can't ( I think this is a large portion of the laundry I keep washing and folding that I never see her wear) If Karah ever goes back to school, go through and get rid of toys that she is too old for but won't part with. Anyone need board books? Kim? Okay I like this....hopefully I can post that I did some of these things soon. Melissa
  22. I've been doing the tackle one thing at a time thing...and doing the room sweeps, a box for trash, a box for misplaced, and a box for go away. The only problem I've had so far, Is my dad came up during this and started pulling things out of my go away and trash. I too like the 27 fling boogie, but don't do with the kids around, they start claiming everything too. I live in a house of pack rats. Melissa
  23. I started off alright, protien drink for breakfast, then had a chicken breast and about 5 fries for lunch. But then Karah wanted me to cook the Cookies that were in the fridge so i cooked them. Didn't eat any until later...but ate like 4 later. Then at supper I was too tired to cook, and Karah still isn't eating yet, so gave myself and the family a corndog and fries for dinner. I know its just plain stress eating. Karah's fever still hasn't broke and we went for xrays today and it's pneumonia. So now she is on antibiotics and we are just praying that her fever breaks by saturday. Otherwise we have to call the doctor, and will probally end up at the hospital because that would mean that she wasn't responsing to the antibiotics. I'm trying to prepare and pack like I'm still going to San Fransico on Sunday...but I just don't know. Have already called expedia where we got the ticket...and there is a chance I can get about 50% of the ticket price back if I have doctors statements showing why I had to cancel. Positive news, I managed to squeeze into a size 16w jean today. Most of my jeans are still size 20, I need to buy some 18 I guess...or wait a few weeks and buy 16? I'm going to head to bed, just plain wore out. Will try to keep better track tomorrow of the food thing....the fancy diary I bought is still in the car lol. Melissa
  24. It's okay...it'd be cool to meet up with folks while I'm there, I'm just not sure how and if I'll be able to. Apparently I'm going with him on to the show floor one day, he got me a ticket. (I'd much rather go to the museums LOL.) Right now I'm just hoping my little one is well before I go. She has been running a fever for 3 days...tomorrow is doctors. My dad might not want to deal with sick kids. He saw how much effort and hassle it was to get her to take her chewable motrin tonight. Melissa
