Waiting for Approval
I spent so much time watching you tube videos prior to my approval, it was insane. I was engrossed in everything I could find on the internet. I started following certain people who had similar stats as me, such as height/weight. Folks who had to gain some weight to be approved. (I had to gain a little before my first appt, or I would have been denied). Educating yourself is not a bad thing, and it can help pass the time while you wait the long wait. Best of luck to you.

Gall bladder taken out after sleeve?!?!?
@@Kindle I know RIGHT!! I'm super excited for ANOTHER surgery where my employer wants me to take a month off!!

Gall bladder taken out after sleeve?!?!?
My surgery is next Thursday. I've prepared my boss, and I have someone in place to cover my desk. I will be out for sure for a week until my follow up appt. The nurse told me today that my surgeon will require at least 2 weeks off work, and my FMLA plan requires a minimum of 2 weeks of STD leave....so this girl is going to take off a month. Which works for me!! I hope it is as easy for me as it seems to have been for others who have commented. Then it can be another long vacation!

Plateaus suck
yup! they suck alright. But, this is not a race, it's a marathon. Just keep at it. We all get stuck, and we all have to do something to make that scale move again. change up the routine, or the diet and the scale will move again. I have yet to achieve my goal, by following the rules. So, I just keep at it. Stay positive...don't quit or give up. We took drastic steps to lose it, so just be patient.

Kansas city area sleevers?
I just can't say enough great things about the surgeons at the KC Bariatric center of excellence. Dr Hoehn is amazing! I get to see him again in 2 weeks so he can remove that dang gallbladder!

Gall bladder taken out after sleeve?!?!?
@@grandmaofone Holy moly that was one BIG stone!! I will only be off 2 days plus the weekend (4 days total) so let me know how you are feeling day to day. Its so early in the year, I don't want to use my vacation. And to take FMLA I have to use up a week of vacation first. Really don't want to do that. Hoping this is a quick recovery for us both!

GoFundMe accounts?
Best of luck to you @@Salinagetssleeved You are in pursuit of one of the very best life choices (in my "opinion") to improve your quality of life. I have never regretted my decision to have this surgery. It is so unfortunate that all insurance companies do not recognize the importance of this surgery to save lives. I hope you have a very Merry Christmas, (or whatever you Celebrate this time of year). I hope your dreams come true.

@@psychprof I did not state the OP asked for an opinion. It appears other posters, however, do not appreciate others' opinions. Hmmm

Did you say "what did I do" !
Prior to surgery..for over a year....I researched the surgery. I got onto this site and got to know people who had the surgeries, and I asked questions. I viewed Youtube videos about the surgery, so when I got out of surgery, I regretted nothing. I knew exactly what I was in for before they ever put me under and rolled me back to surgery. I have felt blessed, and privileged to have this surgery to help me get to and maintain a normal weight and be healthy so I can extend my life, I hope. Never one second was there ever any regret.....EVER!

GoFundMe accounts?
Its a wonderful thing that we are all entitled to our own opinions if we believe a GoFundMe account is not appropriate for someone to set up, when they can't afford weight loss surgery on their own. If honest opinions aren't wanted, then the question maybe should not have been put out there for everyone to see. Again...just MY opinion.

I want a salad
8 months out and no salad for me. Last time I ate a salad I had a gallbladder attack. I'm afraid of 'em now.

GoFundMe accounts?
$21,000 for self pay sounds really high to me. My bariatric center of excellence offers self pay for $11,000, and offers financing. Maybe shop around more.

Do You Eat Breakfast? What Do You Have?
Same as many of the others....Greek Yogurt generally. On my days off I may splurge and actually "cook" and make eggs some kind of way and share those with the hubs. Or on days I just don't feel like eating I will drink a RTD Protein shake. Those are lifesavers!

How Are You Handling Your Friends and Family and Weight Loss Surgery?
I will see all family over the holidays. This is the family that cautioned me to not have the surgery because it "doesn't work" or because I will "die" on the operating table. Well...I totally survived, with no issues, other than losing about 85 pounds (almost). Everyone was very interested in what I ate, or didn't eat at Thanksgiving. I think they're over it now... I do have a jealousy thing going on with my older sister, who told my Mom that she was on a "diet" so she can be thinner than me at Christmas. lol
