  1. Funny you brought this up. I am 6 months post op and just bought myself a Jerky dehydrator and jerky gun (for ground meats) Love love love jerky!! Great way to reach those Protein goals!
  2. @@shriner37 We have the same surgeon! My surgery was at the end of April this year. I hear you about the boredom eating. I have to really watch it. I had a really long stall because I was grazing on pretzels. I had to give them up and do a 5 day reset (per Tim) That worked, but I have to really watch it. I think I'll have to be conscious of this forever, to be honest. I think grazing was how I became obese in the first place. Take care!
  3. Twice baked cauliflower: Fresh cauliflower (boiled till soft) (drain off water) mash, then "whip" your cauliflower Add: chopped green onion Some fresh minced garlic real bacon bits shredded cheese sour cream. Salt and pepper. Stir it all up together and put extra shredded cheese on top, then Bake it till the cheese gets a little bubbly There are no measurements, because you make it your own. And it is wonderful!
  4. I did not over eat today! AND I ate a tiny piece of pie! I feel I deserved that teeny tiny piece of pie. Everyone laughed at how small my piece of pie was...but it was pretty darn good, and it was plenty.
  5. I'm taking my twice baked mashed cauliflower, and I'm also taking the ham and turkey to my Moms. (we have a huge crowd coming). The twice baked mashed cauliflower is to die for!
  6. WOW! I do have an acquaintance who has had C-Diff and has yet to be cured of it, even though she has had several fecal transplants. But. fecal transplants are the only "cure" I am aware of. Good luck to you.
  7. I think I might have shed a little more than normal at about 3 months, but it didn't last long. My hair isn't thinner, but I do have whispy baby hairs that drive me nuts, because I wear my hair long. While it was shedding, I didn't wash it, but maybe twice a week, and I didn't use heat on my hair. I wore my wavy hair....wavy. I didn't blow dry it or straighten it for about 2 months. Now it seems like It's growing like crazy! It's down my back, and I've noticed lately that I sit back on it, when I'm driving...which is annoying. You see, at 53 this is the first time in my life that I have ever grown out my hair. So, I am really happy mine didn't get thin. I took Biotin and zinc for 4 years every day (growing out a pixie)...so maybe that helped.
  8. Let's see...so much to be thankful for. I'm Thankful for my employer, and the health insurance they chose to offer their employees, where bariatric surgery is not excluded! I am thankful for my skillful surgeon, who made my sleeve surgery such a non-event! I am thankful for my 86 year old Mother who, even though she fought me about my decision to have the surgery, has stood by me every step of the way, and is my cheerleader! I am thankful for my husband of 27 years (in 11 days) who has put up with every crazy diet, whether it cost thousands of dollars, or came from a $5 book, and supports me to this day, by finding different ways to cook meat. I am thankful I found Bariatric Pal. I am thankful I chose to stay on Bariatric Pal, so I could get to know some really crazy wonderful people. And I am thankful that I wake up every day feeling even better than I did the day before! Happy Thanksgiving everybody!
  9. @@WLSResources/ClothingExch Thanks! I guess you found me!
  10. @@WLSResources/ClothingExch Scroll to August 20th, 2015. Its a front and side view (4 pics) My name is in the post.
  11. NSV=non scale victory...like being able to cross your legs, or paint your own toenails. Edited to change it to "scale".
  12. We just follow the nutritionists guidelines. Protein first, then veggies or fruits. No simple carbs. And exercise.(which I abhor! I walk or hike...that's it) Nothing any different than yours, I bet. And if you are looking at the before and afters, I am Sherrie. But mine is more a Before and during. Cuz I'm not done.
  13. I was just the same as you. I don't remember exactly when it was, but it may be when I was finally able to eat normal food, that is when I felt the restriction. Still do. You will. But I was hungry like a crazy woman at first during liquids and mushys. You're perfectly normal.
  14. I was supposed to be in a "twilight" sleep, but I remember it, as if I was wide awake. the thing they put in my mouth, the spray they sprayed in the back of my throat to deaden it, the scope they told me to swallow. It was over in a few seconds. I got up, got dressed and went shopping. No issues. But I was not asleep.
  15. @@Joz31 well...cr@p! That's too bad. Their page has some good stuff on it.
  16. @@RyansGirl89 just hold your finger on the post, and it will come up on top to "like" it. It's a "thumbs up" icon you touch, there is also a "comment box" icon there too.
  17. I'd have to say YES. I don't offer advice, but I am not ashamed of my decision to have WLS. I am proud of my accomplishments so far, and I am happy to help anyone who wants my help. So, when I say I convinced people to have the surgery, it's not because I "talked" them into it...because I didn't. They made their own decision based on my (and others at my work) great results, and they "asked" me who my surgeon was, and "asked" me how to get started. I have not lost one friend with this convincing. In fact I have gained friends and supporters, and we all Celebrate each others victories and successes. I am super transparent and open, and people I work with know they can come to me and talk about anything without being judged. I believe in this life saving surgery with all my heart and soul, and if someone wants to hear my story and my story convinces them to take the plunge, then....good for them!
  18. BP is awesome! Helped me through preparation prior to having insurance, then through preop hoops, and I'm 7 months out, and I still come here daily. I feel like I have gotten to know a fair amount of people on this site, and I really enjoy them. The banter is awesome. Sometimes I laugh so hard my sides ache. I will continue to be here to help others, the way others have helped me. I enjoy being supportive, because so many of us don't have the support we need to succeed. Then, of course, there's @@LipstickLady
  19. That was way back in 2012. She may have been following her surgeons instructions. We all have our own path to follow.
  20. @@Joz31 blur your face, and don't let them use your name. I keep forgetting we had the same surgeon. I did let them use mine, even though I haven't reached goal yet. Can you find me on their page???
  21. Not me. Constipation for me. I still struggle with it 7 months out.
  22. been there...done that. walking helps.
  23. I knew people who went back and forth every day to the hospital to have a nurse administer them, because they just couldn't do it. Ya gotta do it, or find someone who will.
  24. @@HappyNean32 The title of your thread kinda scared me a little...I won't lie. You are NOT dying on day one of liquids. On day 2 you will have a headache, so be forewarned. My surgeon approved excedrine migraine, so call them if you get a bad headache, and see if your surgeon will approve something to help you through the preop period. Oh...and naps are your friend during preop. You can't eat if you are asleep, plus it helps your days go faster. You'll make it. Look at the rest of us. We did it, and so can you. Keep reminding yourself that YOU are worth it. And it isn't forever. It's just something you have to do so the surgery goes smoothly. Gotta shrink that liver!! You CAN do it!!
