  1. Hi Pnw Red, I jumped right in and got all my Dr. visits done. All I have to do is finish the 6 month diet. Then they can send in all the paperwork for final approval. With all the Dr. visits done when the approval comes the surgery date should be quick.

I have 2. A butterfly on my left shoulder and the sun, moon and stars on my right ankle.
  3. Hi Serena, Thanks for the info. The cardio guy never said I had a problem. When they took my blood pressure it was a little high. This was my second visit to a Dr. that same day. So I wonder if that is why he said to take the beta blocker. He never gave me a reason. I thought I would question it when I went back to get the prescription. Thanks again!
  4. Congratulations Metalband! I can't wait to join the losers bench. Keep up the good work!
  5. :help:My LB surgery will not be til maybe April next year. I had my consult with the cardiologist and he wants me to take a beta blocker for a month before and after surgery. I already take bp medicine. Has anyone else had to take a beta blocker? Any info will be appreciated. Thanks
  6. Please DO NOT REMOVE your sig line. What an inspiration you are to me! I haven't had surgery yet and watch others on this board with their progress. You and others like you inspire me to continue this 6 month supervised diet so that I can have the surgery. Keep up the good work! I don't think your bragging and if you were, you have every right to. You're the one who lost the weight. You have worked hard to do it. One day I want to be there too!
  7. "Good Luck"

Had my appointment with the pulmonologist and the cardiologist yesterday! Yeah, they are done.:clap2: The pulmonologist said he will send a letter to the Dr. giving his approval! Yeah! :clap2:The cardiologist said I have to come back one month before surgery for a prescription of beta blockers. He wants me to take them for a month before and after surgery. Yeah! Now I just have to work on the six month supervised diet. Next appointment is 11-01-07. :whoo:Trying to keep on track..Walking almost daily and really watching the calories. At both of these appointments I weighed in 2 pounds less.:whoo:

  10. Congratulations Sharee! Keep up the good work! I have not been banded yet, but I can share in your good news. I have to do the 6 month supervised diet. I have learned so much from this site. Take care,
  11. At a nutrition class I attended everyone wanted to know "what if I lost too much weight?". The nurse told us they go your bmi from the first visit and no one from their office has ever lost too much weight. Good Luck, we are all in this together!
  12. Welcome adryan! You will find a lot of info here, I know that I have! Keep reading and keep learning! I too have just recently started my 6 month diet. So it looks like I won't be having my surgery til next year. Disappointed by that but it will be my birthday gift to myself next year.In the meantime I'm learning all that I can. Thanks everyone for all the great info!
  13. Well, I've gone to a nutrition class and got lots of the same old information on diets that I've tried plenty of times before. I'm doing these diets again because if I don't I won't be able to get approved. Had my psych evaluation last night. I think it went well. I've been walking almost daily with my neighbor. We take a diffent route so that the scenery is different. Will probably join a gym by the end of the month, yeah, I get to spend more money that I don't have.....just to improve my chances of being approved. I don't understand why the insurance companies make us jump thru the hoops. I have my appointment with the pulmonologist and cardialogist for 10-17-07. Once I get my appointments done then I can start looking for another job. I know I sound discouraged but I'll be damned if I'm going to let the insurance company discourage my getting healthy. I WILL DO THIS 4 ME!:whoo::whoo::whoo::whoo::whoo::whoo::whoo::whoo::whoo::whoo::whoo:

  16. Hi Goldie, I'm 51 and can't wait to get approved. I want to be healthy and be around for many years! Don't let your age stop you from achieving your goals. Remember age is just a number! Keep reading here, I found a lot of info and it has only inspired me to keep coming back and learning as much as possible before I have my surgery.

Well today I had my first visit with Dr. Joyce. I will go to a class on 10-02-07. I will make appointments for my visits with the pulmonologist, cardiologist and the psychologist. I will wait for insurance approval and hope that all goes well. I know it may be at least six months before I can become a "bander" I can't wait!!!!! My new life as a healthy person is only just beginning! Sounds like a song!:whoo:

  19. I love that show! It has given me the extra boost I needed to look into LB for myself. I also like that they are honest about who must lose weight before the surgery and they really explain the choices they make. Can't wait for the next season to start.
  20. Thanks for the tip Wendell! I was thinking about the same thing for my future journey. I've learned so many things from this site and look forward to learning many more things before I actually have my surgery. Keep up the good work!
  21. I belong to BCBS of IL and the Drs office has told me the same thing, 6 months supervised diet, 5 years of medical records showing weight. Someone said it's to show your really going to follow directions with the LB. I'm seeing the Dr on 9/28 for the first time. I'll do whatever it takes to get this weight off for good! Good luck!
  22. I'm from the Chicago area and new to this website.I have an appointment with the Dr on 9-28. I will be going to Silver Cross Hospital with Dr. Joyce.

I'm on my way to a new life! :clap2: I took my first step on 8/22/07 and went to a seminar. My first Dr's visit is on 9/28/07. I can't wait to complete my journey. I'm excited to find this web site and to learn more about what I will be doing in the future. I will learn about the trials and tribulations that you are going thru and I will learn from them. I've struggled forever with a weight problem. The fat kid no one wanted on the team in a gym class. The fat teen who didn't date. The mother who gained more and more weight with each pregnancy. I remember weighing 170 pounds when I got married and thought I was fat then..now I'm over 280 pounds and find it hard playing on the floor with my young grandchildren. I want to play and run with them without being out of breath and taking a break. Of course I regret not watching how much I ate before and I thank God my children do not have weight problems. This site will be an additional support for me, and believe me I need support. I will do this and I will do it well! Look out world, a new me will emerge!

Good luck tomorrow. I will be looking forward to reading new entries in your journal. I have gone to the seminar and have my first visit with the Dr on 9-28-07, so I'm really new at this. I'm glad I found this site so that I can gather more info. I'm nervous and scared and excited to be doing this.
