    Calling all April Bandsters!!!!

OMG! It has been ages since I've posted here.....Merry Christmas everyone! I'm down a total of 80 pounds. I've been a slow loser but that is okay at least I have not had any drastic gains. I've had my share of plateaus but it is all good!
  3. Hi April 8th Avengers! If you have a two week pro-op diet to start, today is the day! I was not totally prepared for it and it caught me off guard. First day hasn't been to bad so far. I need to go shopping. Yesterday was my education class, it lasted three hours and was very informative. I can't believe how quickly the time has flown and the 8th is almost here. Lets keep in touch so we can support each other.

    Anyone have Dr Christopher Joyce?

Hi giddyupgrandma! May you have an uncomplicated surgery and a quick recovery! Being excited and nervous at the same time is a good thing...you have a great doctor and everything will be fine......I'm not sure if you are one of the ladies I met at the support group meeting or not but I'm sure we will meet again. If you are the lady I was talking to we talked about my not being hungry after surgery. Got questions, reply to this message as I don't come on here often. Good luck Tuesday, I'll be thinking about you!

    Anyone have Dr Christopher Joyce?

Hi CyndyG! You came up to me at the meeting last night and asked if I was Carol from lapband talk.I had to come on here to see if I was the Carol you were looking for. Now that I'm online here rereading these post I am mad at myself for not realizing that I have posted replies to you. I am sorry. It's just that I don't come on here often. I usually pop on after I get an email saying someone replied to my post. When I'm on here I ususlly only go to the April 08 bandsters. Maybe we will meet again at the next meeting. Again I am sorry.

    Anyone have Dr Christopher Joyce?

Do not panic! Did they tell you that you have to go back and see the pulmonologist? If not just call him/ her and ask them to send the release to Dr. Joyce. Ask them when they will be sending it. Each doctor you saw had to send a release for you, maybe they didn't send it or it could have gotten mixed up with someone elses paperwork. It will happen quickly!

    Anyone have Dr Christopher Joyce?

Yes I attended the last support group meeting. Since there was a speaker a lot of people showed up. The discussion was about "changes" good and bad. Changes in relationships with spouses, children, friends, co-workers. They gave us handouts. I have them if you have access to a fax I can fax them to you. pm me with a fax number. I don't know if Cherrish has additional copies.

    Calling all April 8th Avengers!

Oh Carol I'm so sorry for all that is going on in your life. I'm sorry to hear about all the problems you had with your band. Did they tell you why the erosion occured? or how it makes the hole? I will keep you in my prayers so that you heal and keep the weight off. I think I would be crying too if this happened to me. Keep your chin up...you have lost 50 pounds and you were on your way to healthier eating. I'm sure you have learned a few tricks to keep on track now without the band. I hope that your husband has recovered from his accident without any adverse effects. God Bless you my friend!

    Anyone have Dr Christopher Joyce?

Hi EllindaGreek, how are you doing? I see your going for a mini consult next week...did you get rid of the cold feet? It was suggested to do the Adkins ones but they also allow others. If you choose others they must have 15-40 grams of protein and less than 10 grams of carbs.

    Anyone have Dr Christopher Joyce?

Hi CyndyG! They are soo nice at Dr. Joyce's office. I had BCBS of IL for insurance and they approved it in about a week. I hope you get an approval quickly. The 2 week diet is to shrink your liver and it helps you lose the carb cravings. I'll tell you what the diet consists of. I lost 17.5 pounds during that two week period. Meal1: Atkins Advantage premade Protein shake Meal2: Atkins Advantage premand Protein Shake Meal3: 4oz protein and half cup of non starchy vegetables Also can have 2 servings of each per day: sugar free Jello sugar free popsicles chicken/beef broth Must also drink 64oz of sugar free liquids. It wasn't hard to do knowing it is only for two weeks. There is a support group meeting on the last Tuesday of the month @6:00PM if your interested. It meets in the room where the seminars are held. Good luck with your journey!

Increase in Depression with weight loss

Hi Tracy...I've noticed my moods to change frequently. I can just think about something sad and start to cry. I hate that. I don't know if the fat cells store estrogen or not but it makes sense. I hadn't had night sweats for awhile and since surgery they are back...that would be a hormonal issue.

    Calling all April 8th Avengers!

Welcome Lynn...you are right we are here to support each other. Sometimes hearing that someone else is going thru the same non loss as you is very comforting...like you now know that your doing everything right but nothing is happening. Our bodies need to catch up with the loss we've already had. I just keep thinking that 9 months ago when I started my journey I weighed 286 pounds and can happily say that I now weight 229 pounds. 87 pounds lost and gone forever....yeah!!!! I just wish that it wasn't soo slow. I knew going into this it wasn't going to come off overnight...and I'm okay with that. Every pound lost is terriffic!

    Calling all April 8th Avengers!

2 months out and I'm stuck at 230. I've been fighting the same 2 pounds for 3-4 weeks now. Somedays its down....somedays its up. Frustrating but I've still lost 56 pounds and I'm thrilled about that! I liked it better when I thought I lost 58 pounds.....such is life...I'm not changing my ticker....I'll get back there....I was hoping to be at 60 pounds lost at 2 months post op....I'll keep trying.....

    Calling all April 8th Avengers!

Carol, sorry to hear about your father passing away. That had to be very stressful for you. I heard that stress also causes your band to tighten. I hope that things are getting better for you. A 37 pound weight loss is great! Keep up the good hard work.

    Calling all April 8th Avengers!

Hi 4-8-08 bandsters! It is now 8 weeks since we had surgery. How are you all doing? The day of surgery I weighed 245. This morning I weighed 229. I've lost 16 pounds. I have been losing the same 2 pounds for the last 2 or 3 weeks. I'm still glad that I have had this surgery even if I'm stalled. I'm still down 56 pounds total. I've also started to go to th gym 3 times a week. I must remember that muscle weighs more than fat. My next fill will be on 6-27. I feel so much better than I have in years. I hope everyone is doing well.
