  1. There are only 2 similarities between the surgeries. Protein first and the are both weight loss surgeries.
  2. I was diagnosed with PCOS 5 years ago. Since then, I've learned that it is tied to the diabetes on my father's side and there are also studies going on that connect it to sleep apnea. I went off the pill in July and had a cycle every month except for November. I went low carb for a couple of weeks and my cycle came last week. My reproductive endocrinologist didn't put me on Metformin because he knew that I was having wls. I also belong to the Soulcysters website. They have a forum dedicated to wls. My weight loss could be better but I was unable to exercise until a few weeks ago due to surgery on my feet. I gain weight quickly but I lose it fast as long as I exercise and don't eat refined carbs.
  3. Actually, our mayor is Richard Daley. He's been the mayor for almost 20 years. Barack is the junior senator for Illinois. Prior to that, he served in our state assembly.
  4. I have a crush on my surgeon. I can't wait to see him on 12/19.
  5. Many people aren't aware that Oprah stated she would support Barack prior to him even throwing his hat in the ring. Personally, I vote on issues and will be doing so in 2008. In addition, when I went to Atlanta, by the 2nd day I was talking with a southern accent. The same thing happened when I went to Bangalore for two weeks. I was training 10 people and adopted their mannerisms and sayings. That's what communicating properly is all about.
  6. If you've ever been to Detroit, you would understand why Eminem talks the way that he does. It's no different than growing up in NYC. NYC is separated by money more than by race. Therefore, people of all races tend to hang together in the hood. When I worked in customer service, I would actually get callers that would say, "thank goodness, I found someone who isn't Black to talk to." LOL. Sometimes they said things that were even worse.
  7. Please tell me to whom this was directed? :help::phanvan
  8. If we didn't make tasteless and crude music record labels wouldn't sell it. If record labels didn't sell it we wouldn't make it. It's a neverending cycle. I refuse to buy or listen to the crap that is being promoted. Thank heavens for Common, Kanye, Mos Def and Talib Kweli.
  9. I am well aware of the saying "Me Against My Brother". I am only 32 and have been stating for years that WE have no business interfering in places where tribal feuding has been going on for centuries. I am not advocating the US military going to Sudan. I am stating that you were not entirely accurate about the current situation.
  10. There are Christians in Darfur that are being slaughtered by the Arabs and Janjaweed that run this region of Sudan. These are the people that implemented Sharia.
  11. Can you tell me where you went to your seminar at? I went to the University of Chicago.
  12. Hello my fellow May Bandsters! I was banded on 5/18/07. I am down 60 pounds in 6 months. I haven't gotten a fill yet and look forward to doing so in January.
  13. I just read up on Ken Tillery. He was murdered over gas money for $50, not because they singled him out for his race. The FBI investigated and determined that it was not a hate crime.
  14. I respect people because they're people. I don't look at how they talk. Since I was a spelling bee champ, I'm more interested in that. I just think that it's shameful that respect is tied to the way a person speaks? Unless someone uses curse words in every sentence, I don't withhold respect for them.
  15. Most Black people that speak "ebonics" have a very limited education. It really blows my mind that someone has to speak a certain way for you to respect them. Unless someone disrespects you, they should automatically be granted respect due to the fact that they are a person.
