New to the loser's bench and having some questions RE consumption! Please help!
According to my NUT, you want to look at the ingredients list. To make sure you are getting high quality Protein powder, she recommended making sure it says protein ISOLATE, not protein concentrate.

Is it normal?
From what I've learned on this site, it's totally normal to think one day, "It's a good idea," and "What the heck am I thinking!" the next. I also have diabetes, and also sleep apnea. My doctor told me this weight would take 10 years off my life. Whoa! That's a LOT of time! I don't want to miss so much or have my kids miss me so much for so long.

I officially HATE protein shakes!
I just ordered a book that sounds promising, "The Bariatric Foodie Guide to Perfect Protein shakes." If you make them yourself, you have the flexibility to make them just the way you like.

Almost 9 months with before and now pics
I suggest you talk to a friend and ask them to be a back up in case it's needed. That may ease you mind. You ARE taking care of him by taking care of yourself.

Any "60s" with low BMI?
How are you doing? Did the fatty liver clear up? I have one too. My BMI is 38, and I will have surgery in the September/October timeframe. My understanding is that you have to lose all the excess weight for the body to remove the fat from the liver too.

Calling All Sixties!
Hi, I'm 63. Started going through the hoops to get approval for surgery (BMI is 38). I have diabetes, sleep apnea, back problems, knee issues... hope this will help. Never too late to get healthy and be here for my family an extra 10 years!

Any More Sixties?
You must be my "other brother!" It was like that in our house too... my brother was "quick on the draw." He got the mostest!

ice cream....big mistake
I haven't had surgery yet, so I'm not sure this idea will work... I've seen ice cream that is 1/2 the fat with no sugar. I wonder, if you wait for it to get a little soft, then putting stevia in it & mixing it in, would you be then able to eat a little bit?

First post-op appt=SUCCESS
Sounds like you are doing spectacularly well. Just curious... if you lost so much of your excess weight beforehand, was there any problem in qualifying for the surgery? I guess I don't understand which weight is taken that goes to insurance when they review your file for approval.

What I let grief do to me.
I really relate to what you are saying. You've been through tough times-- I can't think of a many sorrows in life that compare with having a parent die. You've had a 2nd trauma with your boyfriend. Please don't be hard on yourself for not "keeping control"-- who could? I hope things go better for you. Best wishes.

HELP! HELP! Not doing well with weight loss..
I haven't had surgery yet, so I can't help with what to eat and how much to alleviate hunger. I do want to say that you have a "hard road to hoe." I suggest you find someone to help at home so you can get out for a few hours a day. Best wishes.

Curious About Soda
I am going through the hoops to have gastric sleeve surgery in October.I have seen posts from people that had lap band surgery...soda might stretch the small pouch because of the carbonation. However, I've read that with the sleeve, the tube left is not so stretchy. After a several months post gastric sleeve surgery, is it still not advisable to have any soda? .

"I don't ever want surgery..."
Sorry to hear that. On the positive side, you are well on your way to living a longer and healthier life!
