Why does the sleeve fail?
*If* you're not already doing this, I suggest you bring healthy Snacks with you to work so you're less likely to be tempted by the junk.

Bra Fitting
I just put mine in one of those net bags and wash on cold. I think it's heat that makes elastic lose its oomph. So I air dry them-- don't put them in the dryer.

Help
Sounds like high risk to me... I wouldn't do it unless every member of the team felt comfortable. Any way to strengthen your heart beforehand?

GERD?
I don't know the answer to this, but maybe there's a higher chance with a particular type of bariatric surgery... sounds like something you may want to ask your surgeon.

Sleeve today may 29
I've heard that Gas-X Strips really help.

Emotions + eating
I've had similar issues for sure! I haven't been sleeved yet, but from my research, I realized that, unless I figured this out, I would not be successful long term... that's what we're after, isn't it? Two books have helped me a lot: "Emotional First + Aid: A Practical Guide to Life After Bariatric Surgery" by Cynthia Alexander "From the First Bite" and other books by Kay Sheppard Best wishes on your journey!

Cheating!
There are some books that helped me: "Emotional First + Aid Kit: A Practical Guide to Life After Bariatric Surgery" by Cynthia Alexander - this one helped me the most. It helps you separate emotions from eating; also, to set up your environment to minimize eating what you have a hard time staying away from. "From the First Bite" by Kay Sheppard "The Bariatric Foodie Guide to Perfect Protein Shakes" Hope these help!

A New WLS Procedure From Mayo Clinic
I would imagine that if the sutures are loose, food could seep into that part of the stomach and stagnate. That would not be good at all. Very interesting. Thank you!
-
Good luck!
I'm curious what your instructions were for the 2 weeks before surgery. I'm not sure you have Clear liquids that have Protein in them, for example,

Recently Lost a Best Friend Because of My Decision to Get Bariatric Surgery
I'm so sorry... it must hurt so much to be snubbed by someone you regarded as a friend! It reminds me of the time I had gestational diabetes and had to give myself insulin shots. My aunt referred to this as "shooting up." As moxy says, just plain old IGNORANCE! I applaud your decision to get the surgery now, *before* you get diabetes. The time of the crossover from pre-diabetic to diabetic is when you lose a large percentage of pancreatic islet cells than make insulin. Doing it now will preserve them and you have a chance for complete cure. Maybe she'll come around, maybe she won't. I'm so glad you are making this decision for yourself!

Thanks!

Calling All Sixties!
You mention sabotaging yourself. As important as the surgery is getting straight with the "head" part, separating eating food from emotions.

I have lost my way
I haven't had my surgery yet, but knew a large part of success will be learning how to lessen the connection between emotions and eating. One book has helped me a lot: "Emotional First + Aid Kit: A Practical Guide to Life After Bariatric Surgery" by Cynthia Alexander. Hope this helps!

United Health Choice Plus -- Denial
I would go with your surgeon... they are experienced at this. The insurance companies do this hoping people will give up. Don't!
