  1. I was originally scheduled for the 8th, but had to reschedule so now I am scheduled on lucky #13.
  2. MAE-I am also nervous about the 2 wk. liquid pre-op diet and the diets we have to follow the first 6 wks. post op. I am wondering if I will have enough energy to work and do everything else being on the liquid diet. I am hoping it will be a blessing though and I will lose a significant amount of weight before the surgery. I am ready to make the changes, but also scared of making those changes and wondering "Can I REALLY do this?" Having a great place like LBT to go for support and support of my family will help. Best wishes to you and also to your Mother.
  3. :frown::Dancing_wub:Hey Mae! ONE MONTH until we become banded!!! YEAH!!!
  4. Just wondering if anyone out there had an ab lounge and if so if you did or did not like it. Thanks!
  5. Mely-you are pretty close to where I am from. I live in Evansville, IN. I think you are like 2 hrs. from me?
  6. I like the Magnificient Mays. Mae, we will definitely have to keep in touch since we will be going through things at the same time. As far as not telling people about my surgery- I have told my parents, brother, sister-in-law, a couple of close friends and my supervisor at work. I haven't told any of them not to tell anyone. I wish I would have told my supervisor and I think I will when I let her know when I will be taking off work for the surgery. I really don't mind family and close friends knowing but, you know how it can be at work, there are always a few Nosey Nellies that can be annoying. Anyway, ready to vote whenever for our name. I liked them all really. Look forward to keeping in touch w/everyone!
  7. Thank you guys for your support!
  8. I gained 3#'s to make the 40 BMI. I didn't think about it at the time, but drinking a lot of water and wearing heavy clothes probably would have got me the 3#'s.
  9. Got my surgery date today. Scheduled for May 8! Can't Wait!!!!
  10. Hey all, I will be a May bander too, just got my surgery date today! Mae, we have the same date May 8. Can't Wait!!! Well, good luck to all and keep in touch!
  11. I'm a shortie portie too! I am 5'1&1/2". Or as I like to call it, 5'2"! I used to be 5'2" and refuse to believe that I have shrunk a 1/2 inch. I am only 36! Maybe when I get the weight down, I will perk back up a little (in height and other areas!). It does suck buying clothes and being short! It seems like pants have gotten longer and longer over the years.
  12. Thanks Janet! I love this site! Reading all the info and personal experiences on this site helped me in making my final decision to have the lap band. It's nice to have people to chat with that have been or are going through the same things.
  13. Hey everyone! I am just beginning my journey. My total weight loss goal is 89 pounds. I do not have my surgery date yet, but I see the surgeon next month. Hoping to be banded before summer!!!!
  14. I also have experienced the same. I use to be thin until I was around 23. I started using Depo Provera shots for birth control and blew up and didn't even realize. Ever since, I have continually gained, even after stopping the shots after 1 year. I guess I feel like I was a reversed anorexic. I would look in the mirror and not realize how fat I had really gotten. Like you, after seeing photos I realized how fat I really look. Now I don't like my picture taken and if someone snaps a photo of me, I destroy it if I am able too. Looking forward to being the thin person I once was and feeling the way I used to feel.
  15. Thanks for all of your input. I started the Cymbalta today. No side effects to complain of as of yet. Hopefully it stays that way.
  16. Phenry-I'm from Evansville. Are you close by? Just wondering since you said you were southern IN by the river. Would be nice to have someone close by to chat with.
  17. Anyone out there on Cymbalta? I have been taking Lexapro for awhile now, but unhappy with some of the side effects (fatigue, forgetfullness). My MD ordered Cymbalta, which I haven't started yet. I did a little research online and found there were also some awful side effects. So, I was just wanting to see if anyone was on the med and their experience (good or bad) with the med.
  18. I just met all my goals for the dietician today. :clap2: She will be sending in all my papers to the insurance company. I have anthem and was just wondering how long it has taken other people to get the approval from the insurance co.
  19. :bounce:Hello! I am from Evansville (southern IN). Nice to know there are more hoosiers out there, anyone else from E'ville? I haven't been scheduled yet for surgery, but I am hoping to have it done by the end of the year. Anyone out there have Dr. Burry do their surgery?
  20. Hey everyone! I just started the process a couple of months ago and hoping to get banded before the end of the year. I have 2 dietician classes left and 7#'s left to lose before I will be scheduled to see the surgeon. Luckily my insurance did not require me to do the 6 month supervised diet. I am married and I have a 13 year old daughter. I am a home care nurse. I live in Evansville, IN-anyone else out there from E'ville? Looking forward to having the lap band but, pretty nervous about the major life style changes. Any suggestions or success stories appreciated. I was so glad some one at a dietican class told me about this site. The other sight I was on was not all that great.
