I've been on birth control pills for 6 years, so I have a very predictable cycle. Had surgery on 12/13 and am now 4 days late.

YourFriendJess got a reaction from erp in Pregnant after sleeve
I was sleeved 1-5-15 At my post op appointment in July 2015, I told my surgeon that I was pregnant. (not planned)
I had a normal pregnancy up until my 36 week checkup. My ultra sound showed that the baby was estimated to be 5 lbs and my amniotic Fluid level was a low normal. My obgyn wanted me to return in a few days for a repeat ultra sound. The amniotic Fluid level was normal but my baby girl was measuring 4lbs 10 oz,
I was sent to labor and delivery to be more closely monitored by my obgyn's partner, (my doctor was out of town)
When I got there, my blood pressure was through the roof. After several hours, it had not gone down any. A urine test revealed that I was spilling Protein. Long story short, I was admitted. I was induced the night before 37 weeks. I had a vaginal delivery with no epidural (my wishes).
Harper Leigh was born on Feb. 16, 2016 weighing 4lbs 11 oz; 17 3/4 in. Perfectly healthy... never went to the NICU and came home on the 18th weighing 4lbs 7 oz. She is now 3 months old and was just over 9 lbs at her two month checkup.
I gained 13 lbs total and the night I got home was down 14 lbs.
    Hope this helps.

I know I've been told that your stomach will shrink down to what you eat. So if you start measuring out your one cup portion sizes again, your stomach should shrink back down to that and you should start feeling restriction again.

It's been two years now since my sleeve, and it's the best choice I ever made. My weight is stable +/-10 pounds or so, and it's relatively easy to take off weight that creeps up.
I can eat pretty much all kinds of foods now. I still eat relatively small amounts, eat slowly and with small bites. I don't drink with my meals except a small sip now and then. I focus on low carb and high Protein meals. I eat plenty of fats. I still eat my Protein first at every meal. I try to stay away from carbs, particularly refined carbs like breads, sugar, honey, rice, potatoes, corn, etc. I don't mean I never eat those things, but I try to limit it or I start to gain.
How much can I eat? I can eat 5-6 ounces of meat and a 1/2 cup of vegetables at a meal. Sometimes I can eat more. I can eat a fair amount of salad, as lettuce doesn't seem to take up much room.
I walk for exercise, take the stairs, and use a standing desk at work. This keeps my metabolism working better. I hate working out or gym classes. I still drink a lot of fluids and if I don't I get dehydrated very easily. I do drink alcohol, but I try to stay away from sugary cocktails with lots of fruit juice or sweet mixers.
The first six months are the hardest. The next six months are difficult, but so much easier than the first. The second year things get much easier, but this is also a danger zone for a lot of people, I think. You must always be aware of what you eat. That said, it is easy to stay on track if you follow your rules:
Eat your protein first Eat your vegetables second, and eat a good variety of them Enjoy fruit but limit it Avoid starches and sugars as much as possible (potatoes, rice, corn, bread, tortillas, Cereal, pasta) and save them for special occasions. pizza is my downfall. Keep up with your Water, Vitamins, and tests to insure you are not deficient When you want to drop some weight, do 3 days of Protein shakes. That will reset your sleeve. Then eat high protein/low carb until your excess is off. Once you are back at goal, slowly reintroduce foods back in and try to minimize those carbs to stay at goal.
I'm happy to answer questions. Good luck to you all.

Lots of WLS patients eat post-op like this clown does.

Today was the first day I got back in the gym since having my surgery in November. I got on the dreaded treadmill expecting to be holding on to the side rials for dear life like before and to my astonishment I was able to do 45 mins on incline and NOT one time did I have to hold on to those stinking rails!! It's a modern day miracle! Losing 91 lbs has made a humongous diffence! And Here I thought one of my legs was longer than the other and therfore causing me go sideways all this time! It's amazing how much you begin to not hate the mirrors so much in the gym. Feeling blessed.

June 18 will be a year that I had my surgery. I have lost around 60 pounds and have 25 more to go to reach my goal. I will be honest and admit that I have been very frustrated many times with my slow weight loss. I figured I would have been at goal by now especially with me working out like a mad woman. But I have realized something…so what it takes me a little longer to get to my goal than it does others. What's the hurry? This is a lifetime thing. I am happy and I feel great, like a completely new person so I will keep trucking along and doing what I'm doing. I will get there.

Congrats on the weight loss thus far!!
A few questions for you: All meals should be rich in Protein. Are you meeting at least the minimum Protein requirement that your doctor and nutritionist have recommended? Are you tracking everything that you eat throughout the day? What about your fluids? Are you drinking mostly Water or are you drinking calorie laden drinks?
Are you exercising daily or most days of the week?
And lastly have you spoken with the surgeon or nutritionist about your concerns?
I'm sure there are others that can further help you as I am just 4 months post op.
    Best of luck to you!

YourFriendJess reacted to sharonintx in Lying to feel better?!?
Sometimes we may very well stretch the truth when we respond to someone whether its here or as we go about our daily life. We don't do it to lie to someone necessarily, even though technically it is indeed a lie.
We do it because it's the thoughtful thing to say and because everyone needs a little love and support.
I like to see a genuine smile on someone's face because I told them how great they are doing and how lovely or handsome they look. Maybe every little bit of support they get helps them continue on their path. Maybe that's the only nice thing thats been said to them in a very long time. I would never want to see any hurt or bad feelings in someone's eyes because I told them they looked like a stuffed sausage in those clothes.
Be kind. The effort you put into it will be returned to you one day when you really need it.

You're eating 400-500 calories a day and exercising off 700-1000 calories a day? Yeah, you're in starvation mode.
Either up your calories or slow down the exercise. That's not healthy, and your body will start eating up any muscle your are trying to build. I know so early out it's hard to eat more but you need to try to up to at least 800 calories or so.

I realized today, that being summer and being more active has presented quite a challenge leading to improper eating: the "grab and go" syndrome. So I decided instead of just grabbing something "forbidden" in my rush out the door, to make up several "Snack Bags" just for this purpose. I will keep one in the car, and several at the ready in the house.
I'm figuring to put in small, divided containers of nuts, dried fruit, an empty space in which to put meat and cheese cubes. Pre-made shakes, Protein bars, and other "allowed" goodies will also go in.
What would YOU guys put in? Please give us some ideas, to help relieve monotony and revive interest! Thanks!!!

My insurance did. I live in MA and I have BMC Healthnet and Masshealth. My PCP gave me the script for Unjury. It is expensive. $2 a serving.
I called my insurance company and asked if they covered it. To my surprise they did. I just had to go to a certain pharmacy, they even delivered it.
Just call your insurance company. They probably do cover it.
