  1. The last time I was thin (for twenty minutes) stirrup pants were all the rage. I looked damned good in them with a tunic top. Now I should try leggings. I haven't worn a dress yet because I only own one from twenty years ago, but it's a dressy dress and I'll wear it for a classy evening out this month. I need to buy a pair of dressy shoes. Why I'm so scared about that, I have no idea. Crazy. My foot bones used to hurt so much that only certain flats would work. I went down a shoe size but am still scared to try any kind of heel, even a low one. Back pain was also an issue. Heck, maybe a good New Year's resolution for me is to buy a pair of heels!
  2. @@traveler60, you mentioned back pain. Now that mine is totally gone, I tend to forget how horrible it was every single day before. I couldn't walk a block. I couldn't stand in line. I was living the small life of an elderly, sick woman in an obese middle age woman's body. I am so grateful that my first day of 2015 is pain free, and nearly medicine free. One more BP med to get rid of and all I'll be taking is vitamins. Life is so, so good.
  3. Congrats to the newly banded. Be kind and patient with yourselves and stay off the scale. Each day should be a little better than the last. If it's worse, call your doc. Welcome to your new life!!
  4. A foot massage from a local spa. Thirty bucks for forty minutes of bliss.
  5. For me, this is how it works. I eat Protein first, then veggies, then carbs. 3:2:1 proportions. I take smaller bites and chew thoroughly. I slow down my eating a lot. I pay attention to the soft stop signals. A burp, a hiccup, a sigh, or feeling like I've had almost enough. Then I stop. When i do this I stay satisfied for 4 to 5 hours until my next meal. The band isn't supposed to stop me from eating too much. It's supposed to help me feel satisfied sooner. Not full. Full means I ate too much or too fast, and ignored my soft stop signal. Stuck means I didn't chew enough or eat slowly enough. The band keeping hunger away for 4 or 5 hours after a protein meal is the biggest benefit. I've lost over a hundred pounds and have had five fills. The last two fills were tiny. This is my experience and so far I feel successful. Good luck.
  6. congratulations!!!
  7. So sorry about your uncle. I lost my dad and uncle to ALS. Be kind to yourself. Christmas is rough and yours was especially hard. Just take it a day at a time and you'll be back on track.
  8. We do love you CG! I didn't know you never had a fill before. Good luck. I've been in a weight loss slump but I think it's turning around this week. Finally got back down into Onederland today.
  9. Congratulations and thanks for posting! It helps us newbies.
  10. I'm a bander nine months out and I had a 3-5 pound gain over Christmas. I haven't lost weight in two months. I felt like you do but talked it out with a few people, and the last three days have been good and the weight has come back off. Don't despair. We are human. The beauty of the band is that it makes it easier to get back on track. Focus on solid protein and no starchy foods and no drinking calories. You'll find that if you just focus on one day at a time you can get back to good habits. Good luck!
  11. I was told it was to shrink my liver for surgery, and if the doc cut and found a fat liver, he could close up and not do the surgery. That was enough to keep me compliant. No way was I going to not have the surgery after all the waiting and prerequisites just because I couldn't stick the pre-op diet out. Having said that, mine was only five days of clear liquids. Post op, however, was six weeks of full liquids. That was hard. But it helped me drop fifty pounds in those six weeks so it was worth it. You'll be fine. It's hard but your upcoming surgery will give you the strength. Good luck!!
  12. 12/31/2014 199.6. Happy New Year!
  13. Good luck with the unfill.
  14. A real description of real life. I look forward to the column!!
  15. My goals for 2015: Be kind to myself every day. Dare to dream about my new life post-divorce. Don't survive -- thrive. Eat well. sleep well. Find a healthy distraction for when anxiety sets in. It was recommended to me to take up reading enjoyable books again, rather than only self-help type books. Move more. Socialize more. Be open to new friendships. I did that this year and have two new friends as a result. Lose my remaining excess weight. Get off my final prescription, a blood pressure medicine. Begin the process of qualifying for a panniculectomy after goal weight is achieved. Take a vacation with my daughters. Remember every day that this, too, shall pass, and life is good.
  16. You're on your way!! Good luck!!
  17. First of all congratulations on your success. It is an incredible achievement and deserves applause!! I'm only 2/3 of my way to goal, but as someone who once lost weight pre surgery and couldn't keep it off for more than a month, I am in this now for the lifetime maintenance. I'm no expert but people further down this path than I am have strongly suggested therapy for adjusting to the new physical beings we are becoming. I see a therapist about once a month for divorce issues and I can surely see how a therapist could help me with body issues down the road. Be patient with yourself, and give yourself time for your head to catch up with your outward self. Your success is an inspiration to me. I hope you are able to enjoy it!!
  18. @@jfc193 that was exactly the post I needed to read today! Very inspiring.
  19. @@Lady VS you are amazing!!! What a great message and picture. You give me hope for the future. I so long to be able to say I lost my weight and KEPT it off!!!
