  1. I hope all goes well!
  2. I love how we're all just skipping over the comment about the fella knowing your feet are cold. You go, girl!!! On a serious note (yeah, right!) I am wearing sweaters for the first time in decades. Never needed them before, plus, they accentuated my fat rolls. Now I need them. I also bought a cute little mini-infinity scarf while shopping with my daughter last week and I wear it at my desk at work. It's probably meant for outerwear, but that little extra warmth helps. Next is getting a pair of mittens because my gloves don't keep my fingers warm enough.
  3. Thanks ladies. You're right. I know what to do. I'm not letting this derail me. My fasting day is tomorrow. I know some people do the 5:2 fasting days by spreading their 500 calories over the whole day. I haven't tried that yet. I was having it at lunch. I think tomorrow I'm going to spread it out. It will probably mean two meals of protein shakes, but that's okay. I'll see how that works this week on Monday and Thursday. And the key is to not get all loosey goosey the rest of the week.
  4. Sadly, I'm not shocked at all. I am actually surprised I don't eat these volumes of food anymore. I've been overeating since childhood. This new way of life is what's surprising to me.
  5. 201.6 12/07/2014. Not a happy camper today.
  6. Five pounds up. Since Tuesday. Ugh. Too much rich food and drink. Two days of liquids post fill and one day of fasting clearly didn't compensate for the eating and drinking the other days. This is depressing. I bounced up out of Onederland. I didn't want to post this but I have to stay honest with myself. And with my fellow travelers. Just bummed. Damn, it's getting harder to lose!!!
  7. Ten pounds the first month is fantastic! Keep following the protocol and you will see steady and consistent weight loss. I promise! Stop weighing daily. It's going to drive you crazy.
  8. Blame it on dealing with life without food numbness, but my tolerance for BS seems to be at an all time low right now. Getting crap from my mother who expects me to live in her head. I had the audacity to have my Saturday planned with my friend after my morning dental appointment, and didn't know she was thinking (not saying, just thinking) of asking me to run to the mall for her before a candy sale ended at one pm today. This was at noon today. She's openly hostile and accusing me of never helping her. Good God. Getting crap from the not-soon-enough-to-be-ex who's texting me again because he's pissed that some mail addressed to both of us actually got forwarded to my new address and he couldn't intercept it and hold it hostage. What part of "no contact" does a narcissist not get? Oh yeah, all of it. Getting a FB message from one of his friends who decided to scold me for not attending his recent anniversary party with my husband (are you f-ing kidding me?). There's more, but suffice it to say I feel like a s)&t magnet this week. I went out last night to a political banquet and had a blast. It was something I could never do in my marriage because NSETBEx was a member of the "other" party, and ridiculed every opinion and decision I ever made. It was so refreshing to be in a room full of intelligent people who shared my world views. Today and tonight I am celebrating Christmas with my best friend. One of the only people in my life who remains bull$:!@ free. Thanks for listening.
  9. I am a binge eating addict. food addict for short. I am in remission because I have changed my behaviors and because my band helps with the physical hunger. I am recovering in OA just like a gambler recovers in GA. I don't "want" to label myself a food addict, but there you go. I'd lost 130 pounds many years ago but couldn't keep it off. The reasons behind me reaching for food were never addressed. And the one year definition of success? I call BS on that. I'll battle this addiction my whole life. It gets easier the longer I practice new habits and don't indulge in binging or sport eating, as another BP poster calls it. But that draw will ALWAYS be there for me. And once I indulge it, I slide down the slippery slope, and it becomes almost impossible to halt. That's addiction, sir. I found this article insulting and aggravating because it does contain helpful behavioral techniques. So I'll take what l liked and leave the rest. With all due respect, I find this to be an oddly contentious article to have been posted here on BariatricPal.
  10. I am grateful for your post as well, and happy for your success. So much of our battle is mental and habitual. You look happy and healthy and gorgeous. Thanks for your inspiring post!
  11. It was coming for years but I had to get out of my food stupor to take action. It's the most difficult thing I've ever done.
  12. Decided before my surgery. Mentally and emotionally abusive relationship. I needed to get my shit together to have the strength to leave. I did that five months post op. It's hard as hell but better than life was before.
  13. Sigh. Ain't happening with my flabby belly skin.
  14. Sorry. Late Friday brain fried humor attempt. If I Googled this at work, I'd either get unwanted attention from the IT network monitoring group, or maybe a date. Or both.
  15. Thanks to all my bander friends who keep me sane daily. Luvya.
  16. Not at work though.
  17. This is what I'm asking my nearest and dearest for this Christmas: Foot massage salon gift certificates. Earrings. Mittens (my gloves don't keep my hands warm anymore). Mini infinity scarves in several colors (warmth again). hair salon gift certificate. I'm all about pampering!
  18. Because of another thread, I remembered I kept this dress in my closet. Fifteen years ago I wore this and it was tight. Today it's loose and I need to buy some grown up lady shoes before I can't wear it this season! Happy day.
  19. I need some grown up shoes now.
  20. Ok here it is. It fits loosely. Good thing I remembered it was in the closet! I haven't worn this in fifteen years. Love me some shoulder pads. Lol.
  21. For me, thoughts feed emotions. Emotions create anxiety (good or bad = restless feeling). Anxiety is uncomfortable. My old habits were to medicate uncomfortable feelings with food to deaden them. New behavior = don't medicate/eat the feelings away. New behavior is uncomfortable. What to do? Address the thoughts that led to the emotions. The thinking that got the cycle started. New thoughts = new emotions. New behavior = new habits. Stop the thinking in its tracks. Replace the old "tapes in my head" with new messages. The hardest part about losing the weight is not the surgery or the rules I follow as a bander. It's breaking the old habits, the old cycle of thinking/feeling/eating. New habits take time. They need to be nurtured. Great article.
