It's going to depend on the pre-op requirements of your doctor. Some require a 4 week pre-op diet, some a 2 week, and some a single day. For me, I was approved on December 30. My doctor called on Jan 6 and I was scheduled for Jan 20. It went quickly! Good luck!!
I'm Michigan as well (Midland/Bay City/Saginaw) and am working with Hurley Bariatric in Flint. My experience has been very positive. They've been very friendly, professional and efficient. They've walked me through the entire process. My Lap-Band surgery is scheduled for Tuesday Jan 20 and I'm very excited! Good luck to you!
My doctor recommended (and I bought) my calcium chewables (and other supplements) from celebratevitamins.com. I thought they were priced reasonable, fast shipping.
I learned today that my insurance company has approved my surgery. Now I'm just waiting for a call from the doctor's office with my pre-op nutrition class and surgery date. I'm not nervous for the surgery but I'm nervous about the pre-op diet. Over the past 2 months, I've been trying to go on a liquid or reduced calorie diet in preparation for the pre-op diet but I keep failing horribly. I get so hungry that I cave in and eat more than I should or things that I shouldn't. I'm worried about my ability to stick with the pre-op diet. So my question to those who have been through it is how did you prepare, mentally or otherwise? Any tips or suggestions for getting ready for it or getting through it? Thanks!
