I was seriously considering purchasing a Ninja, but I used my mom's old Cooks Essentials smoothie blender last night, and it did work really well.
I think she just lost an appliance....

    Gained 1 pound.
I need to go back to writing a food diary. Held me accountable for the stuff I put in my mouth.

Find another doctor. That's the bottom line.
At 363 pounds, "cutting calories and walking a little more" isn't going to get you the results you need and desire. If you were 20 or 30 pounds overweight, your doctor would be absolutely correct. I assume you have worked at your weight loss for years, like many/most of us, have lost and regained many times over and have hit rock bottom emotionally regarding your dieting efforts.

You need a doctor who is more sympathetic to obesity and who understands how hard it is to lose and keep off the weight, especially when your BMI is so high. He's not the one.

Good advice. With the cold weather season coming up here in Colorado I'm always looking for ways to stay healthy and fit without leaving the house.

So you had one chip.. You're okay... Life goes on.. Just follow your Doctors instructions.. You are going to cheat every now and then.. I really doubt there is anyone who doesn't cheat once in a while.. If you over eat or cheat at one meal, just make sure you don't do it the next meal.. Or the next day.. But try not to beat yourself up to bad.. We are only human!

I do Zumba on my Wii! I like it better than workout DVD's because you can switch up the workouts, if you want it longer or shorter, there's like 12 options for each length, you can also choose the intensity level you want. And if you still get bored with a workout, you can change the backdrop, from a club, to a pool party, etc. It also keeps track of the calories burned (but over-estimates them I think) and minutes you work out each week. Check it out!

    [sharedmedia=trackers:tickers:16849] Happy Wednesday!!
O.k., anyone have any suggestions for beginner Zumba DVD workouts? Not only am I obese, but I have a bad ankle. Oh, and I have almost no rhythm in me, but I do need a cardio workout.
While I was searching for recipes on the internet, I found this great blog -- "The World According to Eggface". Shelly was heavy most of her life, and had her RNY surgery in 2006 after her father passed away. Her blog is very touching, funny, educational, and she has a great collection of post surgery recipes and food ideas. I love reading her updates.

WOO HOO! HIP HIP HOORAY! CONGRADULATIONS! WICKED AWESOME!
I have a lot of respect for anyone who can make the commitment that this takes and sticks with it!
I too am from MA, and going through BSMC in Springfield, with Dr. Romanelli. I don't have my surgery date yet, but hopefully for October.
    Keep up the hard work!

As of this morning I met my goal of reaching 175 pounds, down from an all-time high of 324. My journey has not been easy as I had some complications and a second surgery early-on, but I have no regrets about being sleeved and continue to be thankful for this opportunity .
While many are pressuring me to to stop losing weight, I know that I need to lose at least another 10 pounds as my love handles are still begging for attention.

Met with the surgeon yesterday. Very nice man, was honest and open, and had a good sense of humor. I can't believe I started this journey in late February, and I'm at the point where we are waiting for approval from BCBS! Went on vacation a few weeks ago, and though for sure I gained 6 or 7 pounds, and was really worried about being declined from BCBS. Turns out I lost 4 pounds! Down to 280 from 304 in February.
I did share with him about this site, and how it's been a great tool to read about those who are on this journey, and the opinions of what works and what doesn't. I also mentioned what a good support the members have been on this site. I have been really lucky that not only did I find a great weight loss program, with an incredible team, but also this great website of fellow sleevers!

Good question! I too have just started my journey, and I have really been giving this a lot of thought. Besides new clothes, I was thinking about learning a sport, like tennis or golf with my teenage niece.

I'll tell you how I felt the day before surgery - S C A R E D. I almost backed out the day before surgery and the day of surgery. I think it's perfectly normal. Oh and I was mad the night before - like angry. Angry at myself for letting my weight get out of control. It was weird - that emotion came from no where! I can laugh about it now, but it scared me when I was going thru it. (My surgeon gave me a pass for dinner the night before surgery - No restrictions, go out and have a great time. What the heck - after a two week liquid diet? So the hubs and I had an awesome dinner together and celebrated - it will go down as one of my favorite meals and it had nothing to do with the food.)
Here's what I did - I kept thinking about the reasons I wanted the surgery in the first place. I thought about my husband and son and how I wanted things to be different at home. I wanted to be an active participant in my own life. I wanted my husband to have a true partner in life, not someone he had to take care of. I wanted my son to have a fun mom that was full of life, not someone that watched everything from the sidelines.
I also spent a lot of time on this forum - it's helpful to read what others are going thru.
So, best of luck to you tomorrow - you'll do great. It will be over before you know it. Walk as much as you can - I paced around the condo until I felt like I could walk outside. Walking will help you recover quicker and will help dispel that gas they pump into you during surgery.
    You got this!!!!!
