  1. I've always made the Bari-bread (oopsie rolls) mixing the yolks with the cream cheese. I'll have to try without them - is the texture a lot different? I bought a muffin top pan to make them in & it works great!! I usually store mine in a paper bag in the fridge & it seems to work well (not that they last that long). Thank you for the ideas/recipes!

    Memorial Day Challenge!

Hi Stephh. My weight today is 218.6 and my goal will be 210. Thanks again for picking this up from Susan!!!
  4. So sorry you got that reaction from your friend. I am 1000 miles away from my family and I only told my hubby and a few close friends presurgery. My hubby was uber-supportive & had actually been recommending I look into it for quite some time as he knew I wasn't happy. I told my mom/brother when I went to visit several months post-op. I pretty much agree with everyone here - this has to be for you. Hopefully your friend is just scared/concerned/worried for you, which is understandable, and she just didn't put it in words very well. Once the surgery is over she will hopefully step up to the plate. Even if she doesn't, a quote I saw on this site in the past comes to mind...... "Don't let someone dim your light because you shine in their face" I don't remember who originally posted it. Keep your chin up & good luck on this wonderful journey. You can definitely find a lot of support & information here (24/7!).

    Memorial Day Challenge!

Thanks so much for taking over stephh!! Didn't realize how motivating these would be. I'm a slow loser, which can be discouraging, but checking out the spreadsheet sometimes really helps. Didn't make my goal with the last one, but realized I still lost 9 pounds, which is awesome! I'm in and will give a goal with my first weigh in.

It's so WEIRD not looking fat.

@LipstickLady you look great!!! I had run out this week to buy some cheap shorts--I realized with it warming up a little, that I literally had nothing to wear! I had already donated all of my old shorts I wore last summer, that were 2-3 sizes too big. Took me longer than I expected, since I actually had to "find" the misses section of the store. I had never been there! LOL

222 Not going to make goal with this slow period. But as long as the scale is going in the right direction, it's all good Thank you Susan!!
  10. @@Elode It's really the B12 spray that is prescription. You should be able to transfer the script to your regular pharmacy for the same co-pay if you wanted. I went back to my Andrew Lessman Vitamins, but had the spray transferred to Express Scripts. Whether it's real or in my head, at the moment I think I feel better with the spray than the dissolving B12 I have.
  11. I was always on the heavier side growing up, but I was quite active. Swim team, softball, basketball, horseback riding (which was my job as well). Thankfully, I'm tall & have always carried the weight quite well. The key part is I was active. I know when my kids were in HS, phys ed was now optional & some schools have done away with it completely. Even the young kids aren't allowed to "play" during recess, they may get hurt ....then some wonder why so many kids are hyperactive/getting in trouble - eventually they will find a way to burn off some of that energy.

224 this week. Thanks Susan & sorry I'm late!
  13. @@Elode LOL I forgot to mention that! It's a pretty good deal, just wasn't for me since I couldn't stomach the Vitamins - again, my sensitive tummy I'm sure. The co-pay for the B-12 spray (which is Rx) was the same through them or my pharmacy, so the Vitamins were basically a freebie. My doctor just swiched me to other vitamins & I can take pills now....I just couldn't see wasting them when someone else could use Enjoy!

225...I'm going to go with the weight I was before I got this stomach bug over the weekend. Scale says less now, but haven't been able to keep anything down Thanks Susan!
  15. I did this program right after surgery-my doctor's office handed out the flyers in the pre-surgery meeting. I didn't want to have to worry about not having what I needed right after surgery. The service was really great. However, the Vitamins were the only thing that made me sick while recovering --- definitely ME not the vitamins. I can't do the chewable ones. Too much like Sweet Tarts (which I never liked) I guess. Eventually I cancelled the service & switched the spray to the pharmacy. I would definitely recommend though. I was slow to cancel so I know I have unopened bottles that I'll have to offer up here when I get a chance.

    sleeve to gallstones

Good Luck! You'll do great. I was expecting the same muscles to hurt all over again (I was so close after the VSG surgery), but besides being a little stiff right under my ribcage, it didn't bother me at all.

    sleeve to gallstones

@Rocky1 No, I wasn't. I didn't have any history of gallbladder issues and neither did anyone in my family. I'm just glad I happened mentioned to the dr that I was feeling pressure on my right side and he checked it out. Three gallstones.

    sleeve to gallstones

Had to have my gallbladder out about 2 months after surgery. Never had issues prior to surgery. Thankfully, I only had some discomfort (not a full blown attack). Surgery was a piece of cake...all in all, easier than the sleeve surgery. Good Luck!

    Not so victorious NSV

    Sorry to hear...but....LOL!
  21. I'm 54, was 53 when I was sleeved last May. Would have liked to get it done 10+ years before, but knew I didn't want the band and really wasn't comfortable with the thought of the bypass. So, by waited was able to choose the sleeve - and am sooooo happy I did!

    Gallstones

I had surgery in May. At the end of June I was having discomfort in the upper right quadrant. Ultrasound showed 3 gallstones. I had the surgery at the end of July (my choice for the delay because of work). Thankfully, I lucked out & didn't have an "attack" while waiting for the surgery. After the sleeve, I thought it was a piece of cake. Some tenderness, but nothing compared to the sleeve (which I didn't think was all that bad either, all things considered). It's a pretty common side effect of WLS & I'm a "slow" loser too . I never had a problem pre-surgery & no one in my family has ever had problems with their gallbladder.
  23. I agree with @Rogofulm . The first few weeks ice pops were definitely my friend! Gives you the liquids you need & also lets you feel like you're eating something. Thankfully I wasn't overly hungry the first few weeks. Good luck on your journey!
