  1. ecgreen and chitownbander I am not sure where your ports are located, but mine is in my chest...my surgeon told me that they are sown into place into the muscle (in the chest at least)...so mine was sore for my first two months...then whenever I lay on my left side it gets sore too. not sure if that is what is happening to you...but it could be a question you ask your doctors. I hope you both get to feeling better...and CONGRATS and WELCOME to BANDLAND!!!
  2. ecgreen my port was also quite sore for sometime after-but if you are concerned by all means contact the clinic!!! hope you to feel better soon.
  3. Be4Tim you are doing awesome!!! I know I tried this today at lunch it worked so well can't wait to use it all the time.
  4. thanks Chrissy10...I appreciate that so much!!!
  5. lecouch how are you doing...was thinking about you today!!!
  6. I was wondering if any of you lap-banders are vitamin B12 deficient? Apparently I am, so they are going to try me on a new nasal B12 inhaler called Nascobal...has anyone tried it? Thanks for any information you can offer!!!
  7. LOLRH LisaCaron!!! that is soooooooooooo true!!!
  8. I was burping all over the place right after surgery...and still do...this is a good thing...breaking up all that gas and added air when you swallow...keep it up Healthymama2!!!
  9. YEAH I DID SO GOOD WITH THAT APP AT LUNCH TODAY...SO NEEDED THAT FOR SURE!!!
  10. HealthyNewMe, LisaCaron and Gowalking...I am sooooooooooooooo jealous, although I am an upstater New Yorker...I would have loved to meet you all as well and roam the street in NYC. really good memories there when I was growing up. I'm hoping that if you all get to Georgia you all let me know I would love to meet and show you around here too. some of my family were from LA so been there done that in both locations...sounds like you all had a blast. So glad HealthyNewMe you did so great...all three of you ladies are very inspirational to me...I am a newbie and trying really hard...have slowed down but seem to be losing at least 1 lb a week lately again. So here's to all of us on our band journey!!! Y'all are the bestest!!!
  11. TMF I had both of my knees replaced at the same time...bummer...allowed myself to gain more weight that caused a lot more issues...so you are in a really better place to get your's done. I know even 38 lbs being off of them has helped tremendously. Will be thinking of you when you get yours done in the fall, please let us know that you are having surgery!!! Thanks for all of your advice on here too...it helps me so much!!!
  12. sansanx3 will be thinking about you today...Congrats...let us know if you need any help...take time to heal and welcome to your new portion of the journey!!!
  13. Indeed TMF!!! thanks loads!!!
  14. Hi there Linda Hayes...so it looks like you had your surgery last month sometime. you said you are having problems with the protein shakes, can you explain that better? are you eating any soft foods yet? I am not really sure about answers for someone with gastric sleeve surgery...but I think you all follow about the same as us banders. I know the shakes get really boring after awhile...I actually find adding frozen fruits and coffee to mine make them a bit better change. I did a google search and found a site that had ideas of what to put in them...they were actually beneficial to my tastebuds anyways. as for foods...I stayed with soft foods for weeks 3-6...fish baked, soft veggies, soups and stuff like that. when I went onto solids I tried everything I ate before, healthier versions though and took my time...I was having trouble slowing down, no matter what folks told me, so I am going to try this app today...wait 1 full minute in-between eat bit. If you need anything else please let me know, and Congrats on your new WL journey!!! take care!!!
  15. Success to me is getting to a decent weight (still haven't figured out what goal weight I want to have yet), but most of all my success would be weighing a lot less be able to get around so much better and actually not having to take so much medications and being happy what I look like in a mirror!!! I don't know if I will ever get there, but that is what I'm striving for as my success. Thanks gowalking you have been a big help to me over the months too...inspiration for sure!!!
  16. Glenys Jane congrats and I hope this next fill works for you too. I am also 3 mths post op and have lost 38 lbs...close to 17 kilos right? I only have 3 cc's in my band and feel no restriction at all. Hoping your next fill gets you to that Green Zone!!!
  17. I am glad I am on this road too with folks like you as well!!!
  18. SHANANIGNZ-so thankful you are getting with someone new...THIS DOESN'T SOUND GOOD!!! best wishes on your next WLS!!!
  19. Just uploaded an app on my phone to help me with eating slower, called Eat Slow!!! it is great!!! Thanks Gloria Nayely!!!
  20. uploading it right now...gloria nayely...thanks...hope I can figure it out...LOLRH
  21. MrsPj...our appetite does get stronger as we heal and since there is nothing in the band (most of the time) and the swelling goes down it makes it more bandster hellville. but just try to remember portions, eat slowly, chew, chew, chew and no drinking while you are eating...then you'll be fine. the first fill or the 2nd really hasn't done much for me, but have read on here it does for others...so I am wishful thinking that it helps you out. but don't beat yourself up...TMF often says those first few weeks are merely a diet with a band. I am three months out...and get my 3rd fill next week, hoping it works...so hang in there and remember we are here to help see you through on your new journey. however, remember most importantly that if you are having issues the first person you need to be talking to is your doctor or his office staff!!! best wishes and looking forward to hearing from you soon. have a great day!!!
  22. Sharpie...not a success? Huh? you are awesome...138 lbs according to your stats...YOU GO GIRL!!!
  23. personally no hayley_94...but have read about alot of folks with the band that have...they had to get some of their fill removed...I think you need to call your doctor first thing this morning...okay!!! feel better soon...sorry you don't feel well.
  24. personally I think I would wait and see how you feel today before you get your fill. it could be your tuna or it could be you are just tighter in the a.m. I know I am so I drink warm stuff in the mornings and wait a bit on food. I surely would tell him what occurred this morning though...be honest with him even though you are concerned with being stalled. I am at that point too and far behind you (not losing much right now)...although I have kept down my food this morning...I know I ate too early. but you know what is happening to you so it is truly your decision. I wish you well sweetie...hope it is merely a little bump. do you usually eat in the mornings? let me know how the meeting with your doctor went okay?
