I'm not sure I would like to lead... but maybe co-lead a support group.
I will be 1 year post op in August 2014 with a weight loss so far of 85lbs
I would consider myself very knowledgeable on the subject and would be happy to share my experience pre/post opt. with anyone interested
Also, I didn't have my surgery done the conventional way... I was a self pay and got the surgery in Mexico and I would love to answer any questions about that and talk about all the fears and prejudices people have about getting the surgery outside of the US.
And if people are looking for a post-op walking or workout partner, let me know... I would love to start a group !!! lets get those pounds off !!!

I found the more calories, Protein and Water I can get in the more weight I lose LOL.... your body goes into starvation made when you are working off more than you take in. So If you started working out or you are more active now you should try and get more in. Now that I work out more I am finding myself stalling because I can't get the extra calories in. But I really don't wanna be flabby...... I am so paranoid over flabby skin

I'm not a chef, but I have been hired many times to cook for people plus I do lots of once a month cooking and canning. I experiment in the kitchen all the time.
I saw a recipe today for lasagna cupcakes. You cook it in a muffin tin. Serving size already.

If you don't want to use the wonton sheets, may I suggest eggplant, spinach or nori. All would make a great replacement.
Here is a crock pot recipe, 6 skinless chicken breasts, 8 cloves of garlic, 1 can condensed orange juice. Throw it in the crockpot and leave it on low 6-8 hours. The garlic is optional. Makes it tasty and low sugar.
Then there is beef stew. You can put in the blender. Then the broth you can drink as part of your Water. ) I always keep meatballs in the freezer. easy to make with sauce or Swedish meatballs. They can be made without bread or starch.
Then there is the old stand by of shepard's pie. It's got meat, veggies, some potatoes (which you control) and you can add cheese on top. Just some different ideas for you.

Spray olive oil cooking spray in a ramekin or small baking dish. Mix 1/4 cup ricotta with heaping T of shredded cheese (I used Italian). Layer in bottom of dish. 1-2 T of Marinara (I used Newman Own). Sprinkle of Parm on top. Cook about 20 min on 350. Yum.
Tonight I tool 2oz canned chicken, added about a T or 2 of Water and purred in my Magic Bullet. Added a teaspoon of olive Oil mayo, little salt and pepper. 1/4 cup cheese on top. Cooked about 15 min on 350. About 205 calories 20g Protein. 3 carbs. Yum but I'm pretty full.
I am loving using my ramikiens. Perfect size. Now if I just santo still full in 2 hours so I could drink my Water, I'd be all set. Gonna try egg in morning I think.

Good afternoon everyone. My name is Jeremiah. Had the sleeve gastrectomy on the 12th. I started my weight loss at the end of November at 491 pounds. I lost 73 pounds prior to surgery and about 20 since. I have been struggling a little with the pureed portion, but still getting in all my Protein and liquids. I am 32, married, with two kids, and am looking forward to the rest of my life.

I have been trying to try more and more foods but I feel like most of them are getting stuck..... I feel like i have pain all the time because im always "seeing" if i can eat this or that. So far I tried to eat some tuna salad and it was good the first few bites and then it hurt. I think this whole relearning how to pace and eat is harder than it sounded. I need like a shock collar..... BIZZ your eating too fast.... BIZZ you didnt chew that well enough..... BIZZ too big of a gulp of drink.... LOL im sorry i just needed to vent.... old habits die hard....

    Hi everyone,
I had my surgery on Tuesday. I just started the full liquid diet today. I previously had a LapBand so I know what I'm in for! It sure does get boring. If anyone finds something good we can all have please please share!

    Hi,
My first 2 weeks were by far the most difficult. I had a drain which amplified my pain. I lived on percocet during that time. Couldn't stand Protein shakes and don't get me started on the smell of any broth (I still can't stand it). I lived off sugar free jell-o and smoothies. I could barely hold anything down. The trick is finding something that you CAN stand and it will help you through. The hard part is finding what that food/liquid is. It's hard the first couple of weeks to find your footing. I was very honest about my struggles, because I did not have a good first three weeks, and didn't want others who are going through the surgery to think it's a cake walk (although it definitely could be for some). The one sentence I got so tired of reading was "It will get better." I thought I was going rip my eyes out. I am almost two months and I do struggle a bit, but it's definitely getting better each day.
I hope that you feel better soon. You are not alone.

Hi everyone! I'm two weeks out, and start pureed foods today. I too got sick of broth, but found miso Soup to be my salvation (not eating the seaweed). And "Eat the Bear" brand Protein shakes are pretty tasty, if a little sweet. Isopure Protein Water packs the protein punch at 40grams per 20oz serving. And the flavors are palatable.
Regarding gas pains: I felt terrible for the first 3-4 days, and gas-x, prilosec did nothing. I had trouble taking deep breaths. Then it occured to me that my chest muscles were all stretched out from the surgery, and they were really sore. I started using heating pads and that helped a great deal.
Hang in there, it will get easier and you WILL feel better!
    My mantra: TRUST THE PROCESS!
