  1. I know what you mean! Whenever I feel the incision pain flare up or a “hard” swallow of water hurt...I think the same thing. This is what I asked for!
  2. Same here. Surgery on 3/13 and still happening Checking in to see how things are going. My situation subsided a day or two ago. Hoping you’re feeling better!
  3. I’ve also had the shakes sit in my stomach for a while and cause over- fullness. I tried a small sip of Water after an ounce of Protein to help it go down. Seemed to work. What are your targets for protein and water at this point? Woohoo we are 1 week into this!
  4. Sounds like we are all having similar issues. These first two weeks are the hardest as we try to get in our fluids and protein. My doc wasn’t kidding it IS a full time job. My program has 2 high protein shakes and 3, 2 ounce meals of full liquids/puréed food. Last night I took 1.5ounces of chicken a tbsp of low fat ricotta and a tbsp of tomato sauce and put it in the food processor with a dash of broth then heated it in the microwave. Tasted like heaven! ? Anyone else have any yummy ideas for 2 ounces of protein?
  5. How is everyone feeling? Tomorrow is 1 week since surgery and I still require pain meds for my largest incision. The muscle there is just on fire. No gas pains anymore. Eating what feels like a lot but right on plan. 75grams protein (full liquids/puréed) and 64-80 oz. water. Would love to hear from folks!
  6. I’m so sorry to hear this! I hope they get everything addressed properly at the ER. Thinking of you and will pray for complete quick healing! Please check back in when you can to let us know how you’re doing.
  7. Anyone else have (sorry for tmi) very loose stool almost like diarrhea? Surgery was Monday 3/11 and I’ve had it since yesterday. Will call Dr tomorrow. Also has anyone weighed themselves? I figured since I’ve had nothing but liquids and they’re going through me I’d have lost something. Well folks I am 6 pounds UP. I’m not discouraged yet as I am still swollen. But it was a bit of a kick in the shorts.

  9. Hi! Just got home today. Had lots of scar tissue from previous surgery so it took about 4 hours. I was really zonked out on anesthesia until last night. All went well and I’m just dealing with managing the pain. As long as I get ahead of it I’m ok! I have 6 small incisions. I know in a few days it will get better. On clears till Friday when I see the nutritionist to advance my diet to puréed.
  10. I am so sorry to hear you had to deal with these issues. You have been so positive and worked so hard...just please know you will get past this and be better than ever!!! Holding in prayer!
  11. To ALL THE MARCH 4th'ers! GOOD LUCK TODAY!!! We know you will do fabulous and look forward to hearing from you when you can check in!!!
  12. We're all thinking of you today!! Go get 'em! You got this! Please report in when you can!
  13. Wrapping up my first week of preop diet. I’ve had a few “moments” of wanting to gnaw on my arm but they’ve passed quickly. Down 8 pounds and feeling better! Less pressure in my lower back and my arthritic knees. March 11th cannot get here fast enough! Firmly planted on the losers bench!
  14. Recidivist, you ARE doing the right thing. Good health is invaluable. I'm 53 and struggling with issues that are compounded by all the extra weight I have. I have peace knowing that as I become lighter and healthier that my arthritic knees may not hurt as much and the pressure on my spine and the leg and foot pain I have will get better. I have my eye so dead set on the prize of feeling better in general that I can't let anxiety creep in. I wish you peace as you get closer to your special day. You are doing GREAT and will continue to. The surgery will be a blip on the radar and you will be into healthy mode and loving life, I just know it!
  15. It will but we got this! Day one and it got rough around dinner but we made it!!! I’m allowed a small bit of lean protein along with all the salad and vegetables so that helped a lot! On to day 2!
  16. That is amazing!!! 15 pounds BEFORE pre-op! You are rockin' it! Keep it going Please keep in touch!
  17. We have almost identical stats!! We definitely need to stick together on this journey! Are you on a 2 week pre-op diet as well?? I'm buying all my protein this week and making sure I purchase the correct vitamins. Getting SO excited!
  18. March 11th!!! Start preop diet this Monday 2/25. Nervous but can’t wait!!!
  19. I’m feeling the same way and doing it for the same reasons. But trying to stay positive and get as prepared as I can.
  20. Got my approval!!!! Game day is confirmed...3/11. Woohoo!!!!
  21. @Frustr8 , omg you have been through SO MUCH! I absolutely love your outlook and attitude. It is exactly what you need to get through this to better days. And it does sound like you are on your way. Progress is progress and you can't deny that! Thanks for your insight. I love hearing recommendations and feedback from folks as I am quite sure I haven't heard or seen it all even through I've been around the WLS block a few times. Take care and look forward to chatting with you more!
  22. I was originally sleeved in August of 2014 and will be having RNY on 3/11. (Pending insurance approval, of course) My surgeon assures me that with my reflux issues and sleeve dysfunction that I will get the approval that is why he gave me the date already. Best of luck to you and I'd love to keep checking in with each other as we go through the journey! Claricey
  23. Thank you @Frustr8 ! That is good to know! I'm beginning to finalize all of my shopping lists for vitamins and taste testing a bunch of different protein shakes and supplements. I'm hearing that sipping and drinking will likely be more difficult after GBP than it was with the sleeve therefore, I want to get as much protein bang for my buck. What are some of your favorites???
  24. I have Independence BCBS and hoping to hear by 10 more business days.
