cinthysline got a reaction from tndfamily in Follow A Sleever From Day 1 to 1 Year
I love your thread. My surgery was 03/05 and I weighed 224. As of this morning, I am 199. Woot Hoot! As you can see, I am a slow loser too. I know if I drank more Water and exercised, I might also see the scale move a little faster. I pray that I never see 200 pounds again. Hopefully, losing slow will help us keep the weight off. Your threads give me the incentive to keep going. Thank you so much for sharing your journey!

cinthysline got a reaction from hopeful2loose2014 in Thinking of Quitting- I'm overwhelmed
My doctor only required a two day liquid diet. The two weeks before were no carbs. I think you will be just fine as you are "cheating" healthy!

cinthysline reacted to 1Day1Life4Now in Pre-op diet ... How do I handle family eating
The pre-op diet is much more difficult than post-op because you're still able to eat and everything smells so darn good. Post op is a bit easier. My hubby was not thrilled about me having surgery but he said if that's what I wanted he would support me but not to expect him to change his "bad habits". I agreed so I had to put up with him eating things in front of me. I just kept telling myself... I don't want that...I want a better life and a better weight. Luckily, he ate pizza a lot and I'm not a fan so I wasn't too tempted. He came in one night with fried chicken and macaroni and cheese and though I wanted to kill him, I kept my mouth shut and drank my shake and ate some Jello. Its not easy but in the over all scheme of thing, 2 weeks is nothing and if we can't commit to that... the surgery might not be right for us, because afterall, the surgery is not a cure-all or a fix. We will be changing how and what we eat for the rest of our lives....or we will gain back the weight. We're the ones on a diet, not our families. We have to learn to deal with the food choices around us because they will ALWAYS BE THERE. The sooner we face that demon, the sooner we will learn to resist.

The doctor put me on soft foods last Wednesday. He said I could have any kind of cheese I wanted. I scraped the cheese off of a piece of pizza and ate a 1/4 cups worth. I felt like I was eating pizza with everyone else. It was so good, I did not miss the crust.

Good for you for picking it up. My husband does not want to eat in front of me sometimes (I am only 11 days out) and I remind him that this is now the real world for me and to go ahead and eat. The sooner I get used to what my family and friends eat, the better for me.

cinthysline got a reaction from LindafromFlorida in Very light headed- is this normal?
I am 6 days post op and I feel very light headed. This has been going on for a couple of days. I am on full liquids and getting in about 50 grams of Protein and 60 oz of liquid. Any thoughts on what is causing this?

I do not like the Protein Shakes either. Having said this, I find the Atkins to be better then most. I fill a glass with ice and pour the shake at room temperature over the ice and let it sit for about 15 minutes. This changes the consistency and makes it easier to drink. My surgery is Wednesday and I can't wait. God luck.

My husband and I were both sleeved. Life is great. We keep things very simple in our home, not much cooking. My husband was 320 lbs and is now at 265 lbs. We keep no bread in our house, no junk food. You can get tempted by things so it has been easier for us because we have no kids in the house. Best wishes for a healthy new life. Each day has been an adventure and we have had no problems with the sleeve.

    lupin1500,
Good luck with your surgery. I was a long time coming to the decision to do it. With my many joint problems, I reached a point where I just had to do it.
Your youth will be a big advantage. Your body should recover more quickly, especially without co-morbidities like diabeties or high blood pressure.
It sounds like you are doing everything you can to prepare yourself. I think you'll do very well.
The only advice I would give is to walk, walk, walk and walk some more after you have the surgery. I did and it seems to help disapate the gas PLUS it helps prevent blood clots.
I hope you have a routine surgery and easy, swift recovery.
    Blessings,
    Katheen
